I used to eat at Rumbi in the Denver Tech Center (Colorado) about every other week. It was one of my lunch staples about a block ish from my office. I think the only bad thing I ever had there was the tortilla soup. It was always too salty. But the bowls, the burgers, everything else was always fresh and delicious. They sadly closed all Colorado locations and I thought I would never get to enjoy Rumbi again. That was until, my husband and a few of our friends decided to do a day trip out to Salt Lake City and I saw that there are Rumbi locations all over! We stopped in the the Bountiful location and I ordered my usual. The Hawaiian style chicken and a side of Rumbi fries. My husband decided to try something new and got the noodles instead of the Rumbi rice. Our meals arrived and his had veggies on it instead of the mac salad. He mentioned it to the lady at the counter and instead of just changing the veggies to to the mac salad they made a whole new dish, which took a while. He sat there waiting while the rest of us ate. He finally got his meal and the noodles were weird. They were overcooked and mushy and soaking in sauce. He was sad which his choice but understands he picked it. That was the only issue we had. Otherwise, mine tasted just like a remember it. I miss the Rumbi sauce with the fries and the yummy tangy teriyaki sauce on the tender slices of chicken. White yummy I purposely got extra for leftovers. They informed us when ordering they were going to close and asked if it was ok that they give takeout. I was unable to create an account with the app kept not recognizing my address. I tried various addresses but why does it need that anyway? If there are points to be had I hope I get them. I had gotten a stomachache for multiple days from Mo Betta near Ogden so this is one of my favorite Hawaiian palaces in Utah based on this experience They were very nice. I was wary of coming here because of the reviews, but we had a BOGO coupon so I decided to try. I would definitely recommend coming here if you have a coupon. Both of our meals were yummy. My salad had plenty of toppings and dressing, and the chicken on my salad was good, neither dry nor flavorless like other reviews have experienced. The tacos were good as well. read more

Surprisingly Great/Fresh Food! We had the blackened salmon entree that came with their house Rumbi salad! We also had the Rumbi BBQ salad with grilled salmon and a side order of tempura shrimp. We'll come back again when we're in the area. It's not a fancy place - you order at the counter and they deliver the food to your table. But it's very clean. Great service too. Do not recommend this location. At most restaurants if you make it into the restaurant before they close, they will take your order and let you eat your meal while they are cleaning up and finish with their closing activities. The employees here start cleaning and getting ready to close before the restaurant's stated closing time so they kick you out right at closing time, rather than let you finish eating while they complete their closing work. I'll take my dollars to better restaurants that appreciate my business in the future. read more

This location is terrific! I prefer it over the Layton location. The service is all around more friendly, and you even get more for your dollar! Let me explain. Layton will give me half a cup of sauce which is NEVER enough, so I usually end up needing to order 1 or 2 extra JUST so I can have enough for my chicken. I came here to meet a friend for dinner, and I ordered an extra sauce. I received THREE cups of sauce, filled to the rim on each! I was shocked! My friend who didn't order any extra got 2. Already I was impressed! I also took note to each employee wearing their masks correctly, and each time they took payment, handed me a lid for our leftovers, or a cup for our water, they changed their gloves and made sure they had them on before giving anything to us! I wasn't too worried about if they had gloves on while handing us a cup or lid, but I was certainly impressed upon seeing that. It really gives those worried peace of mind! The employees were very friendly and courteous. They made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself was very clean. We decided to eat inside, and tables were spaced so no one sat directly next to anyone else, and place cards were put on tables to avoid anyone getting too close. I didn't use the restroom so I can't speak for that, but I'm very impressed with our overall experience. Food was great temp wise, and tasted even better. No complaints here! read more

It's been quite some time since we came to Rumbi and for some reason it sounded good. We ordered a fish taco, coconut shrimp taco, and a brown rice mango chicken bowl. Now we aren't picky with our food and genuinely like most things we eat....but we were highly disappointed in our meals. The fish and shrimp came out stone cold and extremely soggy. Like, so soggy that you couldn't even pick up the taco shell. So weird and nasty. The mango chicken on the other hand was bone dry and lacking in any flavor whatsoever. Neither of us finished our meal and ended up throwing it all away. I do have to say the gentleman taking our order was so nice and kind, and the food came out relatively quickly. I suppose Covid-19 has ruined nearly all duo but when you dine in there used to be a nice plate or bowl for your entree and it was served with an appetizing presentation. Salmon is great and if I arrive before 730 they have great CS but the door says they are open until 830 but apparently they stop helping customers before then and expect you to be out by 830. If open until 830 kitchen should be open & cooking until 830 and allow you to eat before locking the doors. Anything different should be posted that way. read more

I was not impressed with the guy that was making my food.. His hair was not pulled back and I found hair in my food. I did not want to eat it after I saw that. Also if you work with food you should be pulling your hair back don't wear it down. Think about the customer first who is eating your food and if you want my service again. read more

The people here are extremely nice, helpful, relaxed, and friendly. THIS is how you do customer service - with a smile, not rushed, like I'm the only important person at the moment! The food is always delicious, and as I'm trying to learn to eat vegan with my son, their vegan rice bowl has become my favorite! They even took their time explaining the different sauces and even let me try each. And if we needed extra sauce, there was no charge. (Don't expect that anywhere else!) I'm really disappointed in our most recent visit to Rumbi. We ordered two voodoo salads and chicken dippers for our son. After 15 minutes the salads were delivered. 5 minutes later I watched our son's chicken dippers get delivered to the wrong customers. My wife had to approach the counter and ask about the dippers. They said they would be out shortly. 15 minutes passed and still no chicken dippers. We approached the counter again. This time they admitted a mistake was made. 3 minutes later my screaming son finally had his food. You would think all this commotion and two parents attempting to calm a child would draw more attention to the employees. But, our concerns would pushed aside and 12 other parties were served before any attention was given back to us. We enjoy the food at Rumbi. We love the tang of the voodoo salad. I'm in town because family, it was my first time trying the Chicken teriyaki bowl, they asked if i would live vegetables so i got that as well, i'd say the only thing good in that bowl was just the Rice, Chicken by it self was dry and flavorless, the vegetables were bland and steamed, The only flavor there was, was the sauce it self, the sauce was horrible though, it didn't taste like teriyaki sauce that i'm used to eating.. Omg when the food got here, I was so excited to eat Hawaiian food. Opened the box and there was hardly any meat at all!! Seriously, it was about 2 forks full of meat or even 1 large fork food. That and rice.... it wasn't even tasty. Still really hungry after eating my rice with a hint of meat ((I'm a 110 lb girl so doesn't take much to fill me up)) and regretted spending my money on this. Soooo sad!!! Very disappointing. Will never go here again. I'll just go to Mo Bettas and for the same price of $12 you get 3 huge pieces of chicken and super delicious! This is yet another location for the growing Rumbi Island Grill chain. They offer rice bowls, salads, and chicken, shrimp, and pork platters. Ordering is the fast casual style. Some of the locations seem a bit low-brow and the menus are not presented in a very eye-catching way. The food is generally pretty good although if you want to tweak it a little they often have a hard time getting that right. Service is just okay. I get salads to go from here frequently. I don't like dining there because it seems loud and too close for comfort in the restaurant. The service is always okay. I've seen employees in back eating food (yes, a food code violation), talking on cell phones, and overall not caring. However, they do get the food to you in a reasonable amount of time and I've never gotten sick from it. The salads are always good. Chicken tastes juicy and the veggies are fresh. Think of this place as a Noodles & Co meets the Bahama Breeze menu, and sets it in a shopping center. It serves creative "tropical" items in a manner that the "Fast Casual" competitors all emulate. We had the Fish Tacos, which were really good, if a bit pricey at $9 for two lightly filled (with fish) tacos with some rice. The Luau Pork Plate was better, it comes over rice of your choice and cole slaw and a macaroni salad, with a delicious sauce. Also $9. Very popular for a weekday night. read more

If you order take out, and decide to get the stale tortilla chips, you better at least ask for extra salsa. The pathetic little container of salsa they give you to go with all your stale chips is only enough for about 6 chips. Literally. Terrible service terrible food. Ordered off uber eats showed up late and cold with no utensils and in a tin foil container. Only way I can heat up food is in a microwave. Tin foil and microwaves don't mix. Manager could careless didn't offer a refund offered a meal. But like you all know you tell them you want a meal they spit in it or the potential is there for them to spit in your food. The chicken was stale bland and boring no veggies rice was boring and macaroni was stale and dry and gross with no flavor. Stumbled on this little jewel late one night while traveling and was more than pleasantly surprised!!!! Walked in just before closing and they were in the wind down mode but they welcomed us warmly and got the cold grills going again. Started off with the chips and fruit salsa which was a HUGE hit with all of us. Salsa was fruity but not spicy and chips were warm and yummy! Rumbi fries -- regular potato and sweet potato -- were a hit as well. The fries came with a fry sauce with just a slight kick that my hubby, who HATES fry sauce, even ate and commented about how good it was. All three of us were raving about our choices of a main course, even the ultra picker-don't let my food touch 10 year old daughter. She asked for the aioli and salsa on the side of her Caribbean Chicken and Shrimp, which they more than willingly did and then she ended up eating them anyway. Hubby had a Luau pork bowl with bali sauce that had him eating the vegetables, something he normally doesn't like to do. My Cabo Fish tacos were delicious with just the right amount of kick that perfectly complimented the Rumbi rice. I especially liked that the fish wasn't batter and deep fried like you find in so many restaurants. We all said that if they had a place near us we'd be there at least once a week until we had tried everything on the menu! Definitely worth a try if you even slightly like island food as a wide variety of islands are represented. read more

Such a shame. You'd think a place with signature chicken dishes would cook chicken correctly. Not this bountiful location. Girlfriend took me for a $24 lunch (!?!) of a rice bowl and a chicken san with two waters. Then I gave up trying to gnaw through two tough as leather chicken breasts. When ordering I saw maybe 40 breasts pre-cooked on the grill. Appears they pre-cook for speed then re-heat to achieve that leather-tough delightful experience. And salt is off the scale. It was terrible. Bun was wet on bottom and wonder bread. They really need to eat their own food, cook fresh to order. And drop the salt by 90%. read more
