Cup is a great place to get a quick meal or some really delicious drinks. The croque senor is fantastic, and well executed. Their deserts are real - they don't take them out of a cardboard box from Sysco. The drinks, oh the drinks. I haven't had many here, but the ghost orchid is gorgeous and delicious, the gin blossom is also great, but if you really want something different, get the speech therapist. It's a mix of Tanquray Rangpur, lime, velvet falernum, and pilsner urquell. I had one of these stone cold sober, and I definitely felt like I needed to see a speech therapist after! Best thing is that Cup is open when everything else is closed. Christmas, new years, thanksgiving, as they're in a hotel, they're open. read more

I don't like bloody marys, generally, but the Hotel Congress bloody mary bar is fantastic. You choose your liquor (or you can get it virgin) and choose from a list of delicious ingredients. They make them fresh and they taste it. The bloody mary bar, IMHO, gets 5++ stars. We also went to Cup Cafe for brunch. The food was delicious and plentiful. The server was very nice and brought things pretty soon after being asked. The problem with the service was that there were times when we didn't see our server for quite a while, and I did have to ask for several things that should have either just come with what I'd ordered or at least been offered. This is why this review is 4 stars. Overall, still a very good experience. read more

Cup is a Tucson staple. Potentially the best breakfast this side of the Mississippi (including my Grandma's homemade biscuits and gravy), Cup Cafe never disappoints. We didn't wait long for a table with a high chair, and the 1 year old loves the potatoes more than me (I know, because we have to order an extra side and she ends up eating almost all of them anyways). The patio is delightful on the weekend and they're super dog friendly. Normally I get the eggs in the cast iron skillet because they're just delicious and I am a creature of habit, so why mess with a good thing. Today however, I decided to channel my inner Ron Swanson and order some breakfast meats with eggs (ham steak). Grilled to perfection, the baby also approved. The ham steak is the size of a plate and reminds me of good ol' Midwestern food. Sundays are also perfect for the bloody mary bar. read more

Mmmmm....LOVE Cup Cafe. This is one place I really do miss. Everything about it is so unique and equally delicious. I only tried this place beginning of my senior year, which is unfortunate. Although probably better because I would have not eaten anything else if I knew about it when I first arrived! Its a hidden little feature in the Congress Hotel, bright and lit compared to the rest of the place. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner but I mostly went there for brunch. If I felt like breakfast I would go with the Huevos Rancheros but if I felt like lunch I would get the Maximillian (turkey, avo, cheese, chiles, lettuce, and tomato on a warm croissant). I even took my family there when they visited me for graduation. There were about 10 of us, and they served us promptly and graciously:) Not one person complained...a miracle in itself! The restaurant also has a fabulous bakery. read more

This was the place to stop and have a quick dinner before our friends returned to their Christmas concert. A bit pricy for being part of the Congress Hotel. I had the pulled pork sliders which were really tasty and enough for my hunger. My friend ordered the Real thing hamburger medium well...but this one came medium rare. My other friend had the tamales and she enjoyed it. The missing star is not because there is something terrible wrong on them...it is because I was not able to try the decadent cakes they have rotating and provoking you! NEXT TIME! read more

Bloody Mary Bar + Live Music= one great Sunday I love Sunday's at the Cup Cafe mostly because of the bloody mary bar. You can customize your own delicious concoction and sip it down while sitting out on the patio or in the lobby listening to a great local musician. This is a great place to take a visitor or meet up with a dear friend and kick off your Sunday in style! read more

I've had dinner here once and it was great, but I keep coming back for the desserts. Housed in a revolving display case, the desserts here are a serious temptation to anyone with a sweet tooth. On my latest visit I had a slice of the lemon meringue pie--OMG! Not only was it absolutely beautiful, it was probably the best lemon meringue pie I've ever had. read more

Great food! Four people in group and dishes ranged from trout to layered pork, tortillas with great sauce and eggs. Everyone enjoyed their food. The service was good but took a while to get water and ice tea. Will go back. read more

Please understand that I really, really wanted to like this restaurant, which I visited while vacationing in Tucson simply because it was highly recommended on Yelp. I arrived mid-day Sunday after the brunch rush, so there were some people outside, and only a handful of tables taken inside. Yet, the service was dismal. As a solo traveler, I notice that I often get ignored at restaurants in favor of larger parties, likely because my total tip (even though i'm a 20%+ tipper) won't be as large as a table of four. While that may make economic sense to a waiter during a crazy, demanding lunch rush, there's no excuse for it when business is slow and all they have to do is chit-chat at the bar while I'm waving my arms to get their attention. (There's really no excuse for it at all, but that's another story.) But the worst part about the restaurant is that the food made me ill. I ordered the Braveheart upon recommendation from the waiter (since it already sounded yummy to me on the menu), but an hour after I left, I started feeling nauseous. That evening, when I arrived back in L.A., I had the chills and was visibly shaking. I later discovered I had a 102 degree fever, which finally broke two days later. And of course, that came with the worst case of diarrhea you can imagine. At least their coffee was excellent. I'll give them a point for that. read more

I've gone for lunch, even gone for dinner but NOTHING beats Cup Cafe for Sunday brunch. Why Sunday? because it follows a night of Saturday night mayhem and drinking. Why brunch? because it follows a night of Saturday night mayhem and drinking... and I can't get up til brunch :) From the penny-pitched floors to the wine-bottle chandeliers, nothing says "home" to me quite like Cup Cafe. I order a gin/tonic/bitters combo (btw they have MULTIPLE choices for bitters, unlike most bars), but this past Sunday, I indulged in the Bloody Mary bar they offer in the lobby. $8 buys you 4 (?) add-ins like blue cheese, horseradish, roasted garlic, cucumber, etc. A bit steep, but if you like Bloody Marys you'll pay it. Beware, simple Mimosas are also $8. So maybe coffee will serve your hangover better. Those hipster glasses of yours can hide your bloodshot eyes while you peruse the menu :) I always always always order the cast iron baked eggs. It is a delicously gooey concoction of eggs baked in cream, gruyere cheese, leeks and ham. Talk about heaven. I sub a baguette for toast and voila! The prices are a bit steep, but you're paying for culture, history, style. Enjoy the patio on a cool fall morning, if you get the chance. There isn't a weekend that I'm visiting Tucson that you won't find me here around 11:00 on a Sunday morning. Grab your tonic and bitters, nurse your pretty little head and get there. This place is summer-sunrise, old Tucson magic. read more

This has been my wife and I go to place since we started dating. When we have a date night and can't decide where to go, the Cup cafe is always our spot! This is not the first time I've been here but the service is always great. I went on mothers day and the wait was long but that was expected. As you wait they have a bar that makes the best bloody Mary's they are delicious,. I had the bloody Cesar Mary with clamato juice and vodka. What I enjoyed the most you can chose 4 items to add to your Bloody Mary I added pickle feta cheese cucumber and avocado . They also have michelada so the wait went by fast. An hour later as we were sat I ordered a Cuban sandwich would I wouldn't order again because not a fan of the chipotle mayo but I would go back because the service is great and I would try something else. They also have a great select of desert read more

I rarely write reviews. We had been looking forward to eating here. First it took ten minutes to get seated. The hostess was taking a reservation for tomorrow nite. After being seated the wait staff ignored us. After 5 to 10 more. Now we've been there for almost 20 minutes with no acknowledgement we left. read more

Always have good experience here. When I feel like a heavy meal, I get a Sonoran Dog -- on of the best hot dogs I've had. My wife loves the nicose salad which I usually get a part of. Had other things there, don't remember to be honest what exactly, but remember it was good :) have inside and outside sitting. Outside is nice when it's not too hot. Hate how close the seating is to other tables on the inside. But the food made up for that. Large portions and love that most of the breakfast options come with fresh fruit. read more

The breakfast/brunch has always been great for me but the real reason I come is for the BLOODY MARY'S!!! They now do the bloody mary bar/build your own BM on Saturdays and Sundays and MY OH MY I COULD DIE! You are given a sheet of paper and you just check off ingredients you would like in your very own bloody mary. You can do a classic bloody mary, michelada, or several other options. There are a variety of garnishes to add ranging from roasted garlic to bleu cheese and shrimp. I look forward to weekends for this very reason :). read more

I really like Cup Cafe. The first time I went I had Gunpowder which was delicious, mildly spicy and very filling. The second time I had the baked eggs which were phenomenal. So good. Creamy, filling, flavorful...definitely not something you expect from breakfast. I would go back there for those eggs anytime. Go to Cup Cafe and eat those eggs. Thank me later. read more

Came here for breakfast, got the challah french toast for breakfast.. it was quite pricy in my opinion for what it was... even had to pay extra .75 cents to add blueberries.. but the thing was they only gave me 10 measly blueberries which was really really disappointing. There was a huge line, but luckily I found a seat at the bar...., personally not sure if this place would be worth waiting in line for. read more

The building is awesome, really great chandelier, photos, floors, everything! The food is great too, I had the nicoise salad, which was great. You would expect a city out in AZ to have less than impressive veggies, but it was all fresh and delicious. SO good! While on a visit from Chiago, a friend told me to come here. I had a brie sandwich and the duck confit tacos. The duck tacos were amazing!! Loved the decor, had great service. Went in search for a nice brunch place in Tucson and did not leave disappointed from Cup Cafe! It's located inside Hotel Congress so we walked right by it at first. I had the green chile chilaquiles and let me tell you they were amazing!! Filled with tender pulled pork and melted cheese it was definitely a great dish. This is coming from someone who doesn't usually like salsa verde or chilaquiles! They had some awesome looking desserts but didn't get to try those...maybe next time! read more

Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Tucson. Stumbled upon this Cup Cafe for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The decor in the restaurant was very kitschy and rustic which I loved, and I literally wanted every drink on their drink menu. - Bloody Mary: AMAZING, None of that V8 business. Decently spicy and had an amazing lemony twist to it. Will go back again just for this drink! - Chicken Caprese: Huge portions, chicken was perfectly moist and the pesto spread was divine. don't forget to order the fries with these! Probably the only minor annoyance about this place was the fact that we parked in the garage and had to pay hourly, the restaurant only validates for hotel patrons. Will be back again though! read more

Went here with friends. This place can do no wrong in my eyes! Whether it is breakfast lunch or dinner, they always deliver great food!! Had tacos this visit and they were good. This spot had been at the top of my bucket list for a while and it was a bit of a letdown. My omelette was decent but the potatoes were lukewarm. My buddy ordered the quiche (special of the day) and it was also so-so. Nothing negative to say I was just expecting more from this place read more

Had the Cast Iron baked eggs and it was amazing. Incredible ooey gooey melted gruyére cheese with ham. It was delicious. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned as well. I always have to spice up potatoes wherever I go but I didn't add one pinch of salt or pepper. I was very impressed! They also had the perfect amount of crunch and were not soaked in grease. Being a barista I had to try their iced coffee and k was pleasantly surprised. I'll definitely be back to try the Cubano and the pie! Our waitress was very helpful and was able to answer all of our questions, with a smile! Cup cafe will soon become one of my favorite spots in Tucson ! read more

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Starting with a terrific greeting from hostess and funky sounds (coconut song - our favorite) move to bar for a Bloody Mary that was spot on. Always lovely! Beautiful property and wonderful staff. 10/10 would recommend!

We had a quiet New Year's Day meal here and it was quite good. I started things off with a wedge salad. I love the old wedge salad, and this one didn't disappoint. Expect a giant, ridiculously large wedge of iceberg, topped with tasty blue cheese dressing and lovely bacon. Yes please. My "hotel steak" was cooked perfectly to medium and came with very addictive frittes and some tasty asparagus. My companion's potato wrapped salmon was the real winner though: the generous portion of fish was perfectly finished off within its crispy potato crust, and it sat upon a most tasty bed of wild mushroom risotto. The wine list was not overly long, and our first two selections were not available, forcing us to order "up" the list. I'd have liked to have seen some adjustment on the bill for that (particularly as a guest of the hotel), but it was not offered. Service was friendly and professional. I would eat here again and I recommend you do the same as well. read more

I wasn't impressed the first time I went to the Cup because the waitress insisted that the dish I was ordering wasn't spicy (I'm allergic) and it arrived with red pepper all over it. I've been back several times since and it has become one of my favorite places to visit for breakfast or happy hour. The Duck Tacos are sublime. I know, maybe most people haven't tasted duck before but trust me, you'll be quacking your way home with a smile after having them, and so cheap at only $4 for two (happy hour price). The brie plate, cocktail shrimp, salads and hamburger are all delicious. For breakfast I can highly recommend the baked eggs. They take these eggs and cook them sunny side up in a little mini cast-iron skillet, then they add all sorts of cheese and wonderful stuff to it. You can order them well done like I do, if you don't like your yolks runny. The Croque Senor, which you'll find on both the breakfast and the lunch/dinner menu, is phenomenal. So much hammy/cheesy/yummy goodness should be illegal! For drinks, I've had many of their signature cocktails and they were all delicious. Their Bloody Mary should get its own parking space, it's that good. Deserts are displayed in a case as you walk in the door. This is a great marketing tactic because even when I have stuffed myself beyond full, I feel mysteriously compelled to order desert. And it's always worth having to be hauled home in a wheelbarrow by my boyfriend. Finally, the atmosphere is fun... sort of an eclectic upscale diner, with chandeliers made of wine bottles, pennies in the floor tile, and pictures of old Tucson adorning the walls. Get there early for Breakfast because it gets super busy on weekends! read more

The cup is one of my favorite places to go for a casual date-night. I die a little each time I eat their potato salmon - so unexpectedly delicious. The only complaint I have is each time we go they try to squeeze us into an uncomfortable area, even when I request to sit at a more open table. I think it's so much more fun to sit outside during the warmer months but when it's cold, we have to sit inside in the squished dining room. I don't know, maybe some folks would think it's cozy. I have a larger-than-normal personal-bubble. But the food more than makes up for it. I would pay to eat this food even if I was naked on a glacier in a crowd of 2000 people. read more

Funny-adult story about the 1st time I ate here. Starts with my BFF recovering from a breakup, there's 2 French Policemen on holiday & ends with the heart breaker & chicken satay. I've tried other dishes but always go back to the heart breaker & chicken satay. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have them on the menu anymore because the funny story happened, well nevermind how long ago it was. It's still a funny story and the food at the cup is still GREAT!!! Subtracted a star because sometimes service is a little iffy. There's been some occasions when I feel like I've interrupted servers FUN TIME. But, most of the time service is good. read more

Five friends and I decided to make reservations for Easter brunch somewhere and all agreed Cup Cafe had the ambiance and menu that looked the best. We made the reservation on Friday for 10:30am on Sunday. When we arrived it took them about 10 minutes to even get the hostess to check us in, and there was no one waiting in front of us- she just kept running around. We were then seated not in the cafe or on the patio, but back in the Copper room...at a table set for 10. Super awkward with only 5 people! When we asked to move to the cafe or patio we were told simply no. When we told her we had made a reservation for the cafe she said well we have over 400 reservations for today. In summary- the room was freezing, the service was poor and they didn't let us build our own Bloody Mary's as they had advertised- they told us we should have done it at the bar before being seated. The only reason it gets two stars is because the food was decent but not as impressive as usual. read more
