The good: We had oil heating that went bad and they were able to put in a heat pump and rip out the existing furnace, hook up the new unit to the central ducting and run lines outside to the unit. We haven't had an issue with the unit since install 1.5 years ago. The bad: The workers put their food on our clothes that were on top of the dryer, staining a pair of jeans with grease. They stained the carpet with the old furnace removal, however paid to have the carpets cleaned and the stains came out - it was inconvenient and another day spent waiting on someone to fix their goof. I had to convince the workers to put the outdoor fan unit on the far side of the house vs where they wanted to put it which was on the other side of our deck's privacy wall. Thank goodness I was adamant here because it would have been SO noisy when it kicks on and we are relaxing on the deck during the summer months. The lines they ran along our house are insulated, but the insulation failed shortly after being installed so now there's tear spots in the black line insulation and looks bad. The lines were also ran poorly. Instead of running them lower along the foundation, they came up around the back door and curved the line to run higher. It's an eye sore plain and simple. We had the install during November so we spent no time outside. Later that spring we noticed how crappy it looked when we were outside more and asked if they could re-run the lines, figuring it would take hardly anything since everything was already in place. I inquired 3+ times about this, even emailing pictures but I was ghosted with no response. You'd think paying $13,500 for a new unit you would get better customer service.... Lastly, they called for a yearly inspection and asked if I'd like to schedule one. I agreed! At the end when I made sure it didn't cost anything, that's when they informed me it would be $200-300 (I can't recall the exact price). I would've been hosed had I not asked. I was shocked at least a few weren't included in this huge purchase. If I could go back I would choose a different company, but that's why hindsight is 20/20. You live and you learn. read more

The first appointment was for an estimate scheduling was wrong he came a day early which was fine. electricians were scheduled to be here between 9 and 10 the scheduling was wrong they got here at 2 pm. I mention to them multiple times about the 10% discount we were supposed to get and I went to pay the bill and it still wasn't added. So they said they would send me a check for $532 when I got home and figured it up myself, and they owe me $1109 iam done with these people the bill was$ 11,086.00 minus 10% is $9,977.40 so the difference is $1,109 the workmen did a good job cleaned up their mess I even made them cookies and chicken enchiladas for dinner. After seeing my review I got a phone call fairly quickly, from a young lady in the Cummings office. I was looking for a handful of estimates for some central air conditioning before the summer started in University Pl., Washington. Richard was able to come out and give me a real good estimate on the installation of an AC unit. After some discussion he offered to install a new furnace as well. The estimate that he gave me for both was lower than that of a single AC unit instillation from another company, they were able to get me in very quickly onto the schedule the HVAC technicians and electrician were fast and their work looked very clean. Thought it'd be too good to be true, but nope, outstanding experience all around. Three days after giving him and Cummings the go-ahead, I got a new system installed at the quoted price, and excellent work was done by a couple young technicians. A/C system was coming on but compressor was not starting. Called in the afternoon and Lance & Blade showed up 8:30AM next day. Problem was bad capacitor that they did not have. They added a "hard start kit" for $95.21 and offered to order the capacitor. I said I could handle that. They checkout the coolant and system function, tied down all the wiring and closed up the cabinet. All was done in less than 1 hour. Minimum charge was $175 for first hour. Both men were easy to talk to, personable and did not try to sell me anything I did not need. Very pleased. read more

Getting central air conditioning became a top priority. We got our first quote with Lance Cummings crew. Rich came to our house to do an inspection and provided us a quote later that same day. We also got a quote to additionally replace our outdated furnace. Everyone says to get another quote, so we did. We got a quote from Pacific Heat and Cooling. The price difference was jaw dropping. We're talking about THOUSANDS of dollars more through Pacific. My husband showed pacific our quote from Lance Cummings and they completely slandered the Cummings business. I was disgusted with how Pacific acted toward their competitors quote. It was clear Pacific could not beat their price. In hope to gain their clients, pacific choose to down talk Cummings business. Everything Pacific said poorly about Lance Cummings crew, revealed to be untrue. I'm glad I made the decision to go with Lance Cummings and I hope fellow competitors stop slandering their business. Worst ever. I will say whenever I call, whomever answers the phone is very polite and attentive. That's where any good things with this company end. We were doing a small remodel and needed a vent hood installed and a couple of heat registers moved. We called and within a couple days we had someone there to do a quote. The guy was an absolute jerk. He was spouting off how he wasn't even sure why he was there because they are a month out for work and then asked if I even wanted a quote. I told him yes, as everyone we had contacted thus far was a few weeks out. He spent maybe 4 minutes looking at stuff and then left. In the next 6 weeks I have called (been told multiple times I would have a quote by the end of the day) and I have emailed. Once I finally got a quote (after 6 weeks), it included a new vent hood -- which I explained to the guy that we already own, we just need it installed. That was 3 weeks ago and they still haven't got back to me. We went with Gig Harbor Heating and A/C. They came out and had a quote for us within two days and had the work done a week later. Avoid Cummings unless you like being jerked around -- 9 weeks wasted, very little attention and a rude employee. read more

If you value your time at all, don't call Cummings Heating and Air. I called yesterday to get a bid on installing a new A/C unit and furnace, and a guy who seemed really nice said he could make it out that day between noon and 2 for bid. I was excited they could come so quickly since I had heard good things about them and we really want to get a/c installed. I waited until after 2 and when the guy didn't show up, I called the company. When I called, someone answered and said he would get a hold of the guy who was supposed to show up and have him call me. The guy calls a few minutes later and apologizes and says he can come the next day between 9 and 10 AM. He didn't show up, and didn't even bother to call saying he couldn't make it. I am a pretty understanding person, and basic common courtesy goes a long away. It's a shame how many people seem to lack that. read more

Old furnace quit working, it's cold in December, I called Cummings Heating and Air to get a tech to my house for repair. Lance Cummings shows up and gets my furnace up and running in a few minutes. He checked a few electrical components and let's me know the furnace will run temporarily, but should be repaired or replaced. We go over costs and scenarios. Wife and I talk it over and decided to replace the furnace and ac unit. Lance discussed the square foot of our house and gave us choices for new units. We decide on choices and Lance gave us a time/date for work to be done. All went well, everything looks and works great. The installers were professionals, worked together well. Very polite and all but we purchased a new heater from them 3 or so years ago, it goes out every year and takes days to repair. It is normal to go without hot water for days during this time of year as they fumble for parts or struggle to diagnose the malfunction. O STARS.... I was hopeful that my experience with this company was going to go well. However, that was not the case. I was referred to Cummings through Home Advisor. I spoke with Ryan on 12/28/2020 and explained my situation with my Aquatherm heating unit. Ryan took down my information and informed me that I was on Rich's schedule for 12/29/2020 and should expect him between 8am - 10am. Ryan stated that Rich was his best guy and that they did service the Aquatherm heating system. I spoke with Rich on 12/28/2020 to confirm the appointment and the service I needed to be done. I called Cummings on 12/29/2020, as it was 10am and there was no Rich and no call that Rich was running late. Rich answers the phone!! I explain to Rich that I was calling about a service request and wanted to get an update. Rich then proceeds to start reading off a service request with my information mixed with someone else's address and name. He says Ryan mixed the information up... AND then says I'm glad I called you I was on my way to the wrong address - fool I called you! When I REASKED..do you really service my heating system - Rich says, well we aren't licensed too, but I can come out!! WTF?!?! You aren't licensed to service the Aquatherm system but you willing to drive miles to look at it?!?! That is not going to help me or you! Clearly, they lack competence on serval ends of the spectrum. Really, it is the poor customer service, along with the silliness and unprofessionalism that brought me here. I cannot comment on the quality of their work, we didn't get that far. However, how they handled me is a reflection of their work ethic and workmanship - only pick the easy lazy jobs! As well as, their willingness to work on a product they aren't licensed to services. I had used Cummings Heating & Cooling years prior so they were my first and only call. Lance was great about informing me of the many options and asked some great questions about my expectations for comfort and longevity, so I was very confident that the high-quality ductless heat exchanger he recommended was the ideal fit for my needs. Lance and Blade had it up and running in just over a day. The work was very neatly done and they left everything very clean. Best of all, my office space is very comfortable! Whether I need the space heated, cooled, or just need air circulating, my ductless heat pump will do it. Shortly after that install I mentioned I needed a new water heater. I'm just going to give the bullet points on my terrible experience with this crap company. First off Blade came over and made a great first impression that's how I was suckered into choosing this company (also they're local which I prefer.)then I met Lance, he was over to check out our electrical box as well as see where we wanted to put the heat pump pad etc. after looking things over he looked at me and said " do you want me to go over things with you? Or just your talk to your husband?" I was taken back by this as I am the homeowner literally standing next to him. After that we (unfortunately) still decided to purchase a new furnace, air filter and heat pump through them. Blade installed the furnace no problem. What followed was WEEKS of NO CALL NO SHOWS. Weeks later the heat pump was finally installed,( the job was done very sloppy, borderline disrespectful of our home)not even 48hours later their office called demanding that I come in to pay the remaining 40percent, I asked for an invoice before we pay,she seemed baffled by this. She then very loudly told me she Was " going to send a guy out to unplug it." After that lance said he would " make it right" and then he NO CALLED No SHOWED. After all was said and done this was much more of a headache then it needed to be. It makes me feel sick that our hard earned money was spent on this terrible company. got 3 different quotes to install an A/C and put in a new furnace. one quote was over $12,000, the other was around $9,000 and Cummings heating and cooling came in at $5,000. they were able to install within a few days of receiving the quote. The installers showed up on time, and were professional and courteous. The furnace was more complicated than planned and it took them two full days to get everything done and they showed up the next day at no extra cost. everything was done neat and tidy and completely cleaned up after they were done. They even took their shoes off when walking on our carpet. i highly recommend them. read more
