What can I say? Butter burgers get me every time. Growing up in the midwest, Culver's has been a phenomenon since my late teens, early twenties? There was definitely one in my hometown of Decatur, IL by the year 2000, around the same time they built an Olive Garden. Once you've had a crispy burger and a soft, buttery bun, you kinda don't want any other substitutes. The only problem is that there's not a Culver's on every corner like a Walgreens or McDonald's. You have to head far out into the 'burbs, usually near a Wal Mart, to get this greasy goodness. I'm kind of glad about this because if there was a Culver's closer to my house, I'd probably weigh about 50 lbs more. Beyond the burger, I do love Culver's soft serve custard. Very midwest. I've been seeing adds for this place so today at lunch I took my co-worker Kevin, and we went to have lunch. Many choices on menu, I chose the Cod fish sandwich basket, subbing Wisconsin cheese curds ( nothing more than bite size fried cheese sticks which were over salted in my opinion, WAY over-salted. Sandwich was bland, the grated cheese was not on the meat, so it didn't melt. The tarter sauce was hard to find, so overall, it was not that great either. I asked for a Milk Shake with some extra milk to make it a little easier to get through the straw, Manager was helpful, but the guy making shake must not have gotten the message. I'm picky, but I like my milk shakes drinkable, NOT spoonable. If I wanted a Frosty I would have gone to Wendy's. 2 of us, over 25.00$ This will be my first and last time to visit. It was overpriced, and food was mediocre at best. Sorry, but I do not give this place a good rating. Much better hamburger and malt places. read more

I really wish the patties were thicker because the double patty is really like a single and for the price, I can go to Wendy's and get a double. Came to this place twice yesterday and I never really eat fast food, maybe just twice a year... At any rate, got a burger and was pleased it looked as good as the photo. Bun was toasted, not soggy. Meat tasted fresh. Very rare in a "fast food" place. Went back later with my son to try some custards. AMAZING. They have a special one ever day but even though it wasn't the day for banana creme pie, the man behind the counter was super helpful and decided to tell us about the "mixers" and they're so good. I wish we could give half stars because the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I try to reserve that honor for places that completely blow my mind and are an absolute must return. That being said I think culvers is a fantastic "fast food" venue. This place is always packed, though I'm not sure if it is because it is relatively new and there was so much hype surrounding it. One of the kids in my neighborhood whose family is from the Midwest recommended we try out culvers because it is one of her favorite places to eat when they go visit family. The burgers are really good, buttery, juicy and topped well. The cheese curd replacement for fries is something I've never had before. It is really unique, and worth coming to culvers for that alone. That being said you better not miss out on dessert. They have a concrete mixer of the day every day. They do their ice cream/ custard dessert similar to some of the smaller sandwich shops I've been to in Boston. You can choose a vanilla/chocolate flavor base and then add mix-ins Obviously they win my heart having peanut butter as a mix-in. Normally I'm never a fast food gal, but Culvers is worth the visit! 7/24/16 They are having new crew/new location issues. Lil bit of confusion from time to time behind counter, a few register issues, customers not knowing how food items are served. FYI, condiments are added by hand, by you. Ask for what you want & they will get it to you. They are a bit slow but not surprising during busy times and newly opened location. They are nice & give friendly service with a smile. The burger was good & the custard was awesome. We will be back! 7/28 Going thru drive thru this time. OMG! What a damn mess!!! There are 5 of us who have paid but sit waiting for our food and the person bringing food out is certainly in no hurry. Got my drink & concrete mixer. Mixer cup is in no way full. Not happy at all. My wife and I in the past just loved Culver's and how the service and food was top notch. After yesterday's disappointment we decided not to return. I decided to order the Butter Burger which in the past it was always one of the best burgers one could buy at a fast-food chain. When I open the wrapping, it looked like a burger from Freddies. It was wafer thin and burnt and they even got the order wrong because I told them I wanted mustard and no ketchup, and they had ketchup and no mustard. When I went to take the burger back there was only 1 person at the register and a huge line. They also forgot my wife's fries. Tried to give this Culvers another (5th) chance but the food has unbelievably gotten worse. Our to go order was wrong again. Food in the bag didn't match the receipt. So they took our order correctly but couldn't fill our order correctly. The patties on our burgers were smashed incredibly thin and burned beyond recognition. It was so bad my wife asked me if it really was hamburger. I am saddened by the downturn in quality and service It was great when it first opened, I hoped it would improve, but I give up. Had a small burger at Culver's today. It had the life cooked out of it. Shoe leather! The bun was unappetizing. Due to the dryness, I added ketchup, and then it was more ketchup than I like, and it cooled the burger. I left half behind. I also had cheese curds. Not very good. I am done with Culver's. Weve eat here about 12 times since they opened ( it's only 8 blocks from us ) Service is always friendly, menu is very diverse from Fish and Chips to Pot Roast dinners. Very VERY clean establishment. First and last time customer at this place. Food was not that good anyway. Ordered online for local pickup on the way out of town. Was a large order, so we did not think we would have to check the food in 4 large bags against what we ordered. Big mistake - they shorted us 3 fries on fish and chip meals. It is part of the meal - how hard is that to get right. We did not realize we where shorted until 25 miles away. I love love LOVE Culver's but this was my first visit to this location. I also dragged my boyfriend here for the first time, and I must say I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!! I ate my custard while I waited for my burger and fries, and it was the tiniest serving ever. I also asked for cookie dough and cherries and only got cookie dough and 1 cherry. Then I got my burger and it was over cooked and dry. My fries were fine, but it's hard to mess those up. I will definitely drive the extra 15 minutes next time to the other location. read more

So my boyfriend was picking up Culver's on the way home from work this evening for dinner. He ordered fish and chips and he picked me up a crispy chicken sandwich with onion rings on the side. He gets home and we are about to dig in when we noticed that there weren't any onion rings, we checked he receipt, and sure enough, we were charged for onion rings. So he gets on the phone to see about a refund and I open my container to eat my sandwich...and there isn't a top bun. The girl (yes, girl, she sounded like she was 15 and she is the manager) said that it's pretty common to not get a bun on your sandwiches. Excuse me? Isn't making a sandwich pretty basic. You have your bottom bun, sauce, veggies, meat and YOUR TOP BUN. So apparently the best they can offer is to send us coupons in the mail, my boyfriend double checked and asking if it was for a free meal, and she said "they will decide on what the coupon is depending on the situation", seriously? You couldn't just refund the sandwich and onion rings? His experience when he picked up the food was awful too. The women who took his order was snotty, and he had to wait a while for his food. They walked out with our order, walked back inside for 5 minutes, then brought it out to him finally. We definitely won't be coming back any time soon. read more

I heard rants&raves about Culver's before they put a location here, but now that I've tried it I'm really asking..."Why?!" I gave it 2 stars because they did make it (instead of pulling it from under a warmer) and the service was very helpful/friendly. However, NO WAY was the quality of food better than say...Smashburger, Larkburger, or even Good Times. It was literally typical pre-frozen bland tasting fast food. Being from Wisconsin, and for the most part always ordering the same thing, I was super disappointed. I ordered a double sourdough melt and it looked like a single. When I asked about it they had the cook come out to assure me it was a double when it clearly was not. Regardless, food was not great and they insisted on being right vs making it right. My husband finally convinced me to give this place another try for custard. IT WAS JUST AS BAD. I ordered a chocolate shake with salted caramel and cookie dough. I checked my order on my receipt and had them read it back, everything was correct. They hand me shake #1: it's a VANILLA shake with hot caramel and cookie dough. Not at all what I asked for. So I say 'I asked for this as a chocolate shake' and they look all confused and take it back. They hand me shake #2: it's JUST A CUP FILLED WITH CUSTARD, oddly enough that's not a shake or WHAT I ORDERED. There's no caramel or cookie dough. I had to eat it with a spoon. I was excited about another Culvers location and one close to my work. I was highly disappointed with this location. We waited for over 20 minutes in the drive thru for our order. There were 8 other cars behind me waiting as well. My drink had very little ice in on a almost 100 degree day, nothing like drink warm sweet tea. By the time we got our food it was completely cold as if it had been sitting there for a while. The lettuce and tomato looked wilted and brown and tasted rusty. This was my first time eating at a Culver's. It was delicious!! We walked in and could smell that brand new paint smell, but it was a good, clean smell. There were about 15 employees behind the counter, all smiling and looking like they were truly happy to be there. Loved the dining area, very unique. The service was top notch with clean cut, genuinely NICE employees. Food was really good, so much flavor in those burgers!!! We had the Custard flavor of the day, which was chocolate covered strawberry. Amazing! I truly think Mikey D's across the street should be shaking in their boots. I stumbled upon a Culver's years ago on a roadtrip from Arvada to Michigan. It was late at night and I cannot even remember where exactly it was. But I remembered everything else about it since. Those cheese curds, that frozen custard, their own special root beer! When the one in Thornton opened, we frequented it as much as possible though it's a bit far away. But there just isn't anything else around quite like it. My kids loved it, so we made the drive periodically. When I heard this one in Arvada was opening I was giddy. Well, also a bit scared at how close it was and how easy it was going to be to go there now. Because, well, I'm a bit of an addict. In fact, I'm starting to think they recognize my face and talk about me in the back now. :-) What I like about it is that it is one step above the other fast food places. You order your food but they bring it to you at your table. The decor is better than the average fast food place, the choice of entrees is better, and the people are friendlier. It must be all that free frozen custard they get! The burgers are good, but they also have a really good reuben, patty melt, and believe it or not, a fried shrimp dinner that's pretty darned good if you're in the mood for that. They even have salads and soups. Like the others said, you must try the cheese curds. The frozen custard is the best. They have a myriad of ways to enjoy, from the concrete mixers (think Blizzard), to milkshakes, to sundaes. Their chocolate base is so chocolatey! It's delicious all on its own. I was craving a bacon cheeseburger so I stopped at the new Culver's by my house. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger meal with a mango smoothie. When I get to the window the lady hands me a mango shake and tries to tell me that they make their smoothies with custard. It was absolutely disgusting and I gave it back to the lady. She never gave me my change. And then gave me a number to pull forward and wait for my food. It took 10 minutes to get a bacon cheeseburger and fries. And to top it off when I got home my fries were half-frozen and the Buns on my hamburger were mush. I waited all summer for them to open and just to be completely disappointed.
