This Culver's restaurant is very clean, modern, with a quiet comfortable dining area. All good we've had there has been fresh, tasty and brought to our table promptly. The restaurant uses sound-deadening materials so the atmosphere is not noisy or frantic. We eat there regularly and their butter burgers are really great. Different choices like Swiss and mushrooms etc. My hubby and I are especially fond of the grilled chicken sandwich!! The chicken breast is very tender and is a generous portion. Buns are fresh. Service is terrific; ordering at counter is easy and if you eat there, they bring to your table. PS: the frozen custard is excellent too. read more

Took a break from Thanksgiving shopping and ate with my Mom and Auntie. For a fast food spot it definitely had this homey charming restaurant vibe. The food was great from the patty melt to the butter burger. The customer service was fantastic, Dustin from behind the register took his time and patiently helped an elderly couple with their order before taking our order. He asked if I wanted the receipt and then after affirming I wanted my receipt my phone rang and I stepped outside and took the call. Dustin found me standing outside and delivered the receipt and then once seated he brought us our food and asked if they was anything else we needed for our lunch. Lately supply chain and personnel issues have been an issue at most restaurants where we have eaten. Dustin can't control the supply chain but his level of customer service was OUTSTANDING.. This establishment is absolutely disgusting and should be under review by the Florida Health Food Safety and Sanitation. I was consuming a deluxe burger when I suddenly felt a piece of hair in my mouth coming from the burger! It was long, dark, curly hair INSIDE the burger. That is the most disgusting experience at a fast food restaurant in my life. Whatever happened to hair nets? Whatever happened to CARING about your employers dress code for the sake of the customer's safety? Not only did they absolutely disgust me but they also got our order wrong when I CLEARLY stated that I would like a single deluxe burger but no they insisted on the double deluxe burger because of their desperation for extra 50 cents. I really wanted to like this Midwestern burger restaurant based upon all of their hype when they started opening locations in the Tampa Bay area, but after my visit I drove away thinking "mehhh". Culver's started as a fast-casual food chain in Wisconsin in the mid-80's, and has quickly spread to over 500 franchised restaurants nationwide. They advertise "Welcome to Delicious", and promote their Butterburgers and frozen custard, among other menu items. This particular location of Culver's can be found on Nebraska Avenue, just north of Bearss. I visited there on a weeknight, and stood in line with lots of families. The menu is quite large, and it takes a while to read through everything before finally making your selection. I ordered a Mushroom Swiss Butterburger with a side of onion rings, and took my numbered placard over to a vacant table while they prepared my meal. According to the information I read, Culver's uses a freshly-ground mix of three cuts of beef: sirloin, chuck and plate. The patties are mashed down on the flat-top in order to cook more quickly, but that also means there is a loss of some of the juices. The buns are lightly-buttered on the crowns, and toasted, and then the whole thing is assembled and placed into your basket along with your sides. (I don't get the concept of buttering the top of the bun, but I wasn't a fan.) What I ended up with was a bun that was greasy to the touch, and meat that was dry and lacking in flavor. Thankfully they had added the Swiss cheese and grilled mushrooms, but I had to get up and get some mustard and black pepper to put on the burger. Maybe I was supposed to ask them to add condiments and seasonings, but that certainly was not made clear during the ordering process. The onion rings were OK, but they'd sat in the fry oil a bit too long and were bordering on being burned. Again, back to the condiments bar for more ketchup and mustard as a dipping sauce. In the end I paid $10 for a meal which left me disappointed. I've certainly had much better burgers at other places, and so I'll have to plan a return trip to see if I just happened to catch them on a bad day. read more

It seriously pains me to give this anything less than 5 stars. My family is from the Midwest so Culvers is basically a staple in our diets. When we were visiting Tampa and found out there was a Culvers near our hotel we immediately left to go get some sweet treats. It was a beautiful location - seemed to be fairly new. But so did our order taker. And nothing against new workers - I know you have to start somewhere - but this guy was just struggling. We both just ordered custard, and it took a while to clarify exactly what we were ordering. We were given a pink '32' table tent and waited about 10 minutes (for ice cream) at our table. Evidently the people at the table next to us had the blue '32' table tent (pink for ice cream, blue for food.) ultimately they were served our ice cream because the guy who took our order delivered it to them (after all the did have the same number.) When the other people had to basically promise him it wasn't theirs he started walking back to the counter. I overheard the people next to us saying 'oh he should have left it - I touched it' A few seconds later he came to our table with sticky little cups of ice cream that our neighbors touched. They looked ok (like the actual ice cream didn't appear to be touched, but the cups were super sticky with ice cream dripping down. Will this stop me from going to Culvers? Absolutely not. I know this isn't their standard. Would I visit this Culvers again? Ehhh probably not. read more

Culver's was recommended to me by several friends and my boss, who loves bringing his son here. I am not a hamburger person, but I was in the neighborhood so I thought I would give it a try. The line actually moved quickly and I found the "pick up" area for the food was interesting. The staff member who brought my food out to me was very friendly. I ordered the the original butterburger, fries, and the Wisconsin Cheese Curds. Although the fries were a bit undercooked, everything was good. The food was so good, I forgot to take some pictures. If I am in the neighborhood, I would definitely return. I am happy that this location and the one on Hillsborough are not located too close to me. I needed to grab food on the way home from a play date. This was just up the street and on the corner. Having never been to a Culvers, I wasn't sure what to expect, however, After a quick read through of the menu, I settled for a combo of their Bacon cheese burger, fries and a dr. Pepper. When I pulled up to the window, I paid, was given my soda and a number, the kind of number that you'd put on your table to wait for someone to deliver it to me. I sat there. No one told me to pull forward. After a minute, the girl looked out the window and I asked. "So, did you WANT me to pull forward?" she nodded. I'm a huge fan of Culver's. I discovered them in Wisconsin and have loved them ever since. Their food and service is usually much better than most other fast food joints. I stopped at this one today while visiting Tampa and was sorely disappointed! I even wondered if I entered the right place or a knock off. The staff was ok but the food was terrible. Not at all what I'm used to with Culver's in other places I've been. It seriously looked and tasted like McDonalds. My burger was cold and the cheese wasn't even melted. My husband's melt wasn't melting at all. It was just some old crusty bread crumbling apart with every attempted bite, so dry. The employees we encountered were all friendly and helpful. The staff was also very allergy-friendly and made sure our concrete was made taking the appropriate precautions. Not a bad place to get a burger off I275. Just don't got there on a diet or in a hurry. We showed up at 8:10, and the place was full. There was a line to order and a matching line for the drive-thru. I got in line, and it took about 5 minutes to order. After ordering, I sat down, and it was another 15 minutes before the server brought our food. I guess they weren't lying when they said food was made to order. In a dinner rush, that means there's a long wait. The food was fine. The burger patties are of that thin variety that the edges are crispy. I tried the sourdough melt, and I did not detect any sourness in the bread. It mostly tasted of butter and beef. I'm not complaining much. I also had the fried cheese curds, which basically tasted like little fried mozzarella cheese sticks. And I tried the Culver brand root beer, which was very creamy but not especially distinctive in flavor. More than just another fast food place. Culvers serves a typical menu of burgers, chicken, fries, shakes, etc but manages to kick up the food quality a bit. I really really enjoy the cheese curds, which are very similar to bite size mozz sticks but so much better..... All in all the burgers are pretty good but also extra greasy. However the healthier menu items alone don't really justify a trip to Culvers in the first place so you really have to commit to being very bad before you walk through that door if you want to make the most of it. They do have very very good "cement mixers" which are similar to mc flurries but much much better. The chicken is ok... but if your in the mood for chicken there are much better choices out there. This is a burger, side, shake kind of place and they do them well. I would've rated Culvers higher but the prices are a bit high and food is terrible for you. I just couldn't justify eating a heavy burger, cheese curds, and a shake every day....However I do manage to get over there at least once every 6 months. read more

I stopped by Culver's around 6:30pm on a Monday night. They've been open for about a week, so I was surprised by the long line around the building but it made me hopeful that the food would be worth it! 40 minutes later, 10 of which were spent trying to communicate with the drive-thru employee via their speaker that was having issues, I drove away with two Butter Burgers, Wisconsin Cheese Curds, and two Concrete Mixers. Their ordering system is unique; you order through the speaker, pay at the window, then pull ahead and wait a few minutes for them to bring your food out. This is part of their "made to order" mantra - nothing is prepared in advance. First, the burgers. They aren't gourmet, but are definitely better than your average fast food burger. I would say closer to Five Guys, but not quite there. The Cheese Curds... I was extremely disappointed by. This is one of the restaurant's staples, but it just tasted like mozzarella sticks. Perhaps they would benefit from a flavorful sauce, but there was absolutely no flavor in the curds themselves. The Concrete Mixers had great flavor, very creamy, but were lacking the "concrete" component. They were basically cold soup when we received them, and even an hour in the freezer didn't really help. So... would we go back? We don't eat a lot of fast food, and this wasn't good enough to make more than one exception for. Perhaps we'll stop by for a Concrete Mixer in the future (if they can make it less soupy). read more

We stopped and by God if did not come down himself and cook me the most amazing double cheeseburger and fries my lips have touched. I could not stop making moaning noises this burger was so good. First time to this place and I can't figure out what all the hype is about. Ordered two butter burgers, large fry and a chocolate malt with no whipped cream and no cherry. People seemed nice and fast. I got three different prices when I pulled up to pay. I went back over my order since they didn't have it when I got up to pay. After receiving my order, whipped cream on the malt, no napkins or condiments, fries were not hot. Drove the 3 miles home and the fries were cold, burgers were dry with no taste whatsoever. I am a Frozen Custard fan born and raised in Waukesha, WI, so I tend to think I know a little bit about the deliciousness that is Frozen Custard. I was SO EXCITED when this Culver's opened up less than 5 min away from my house and I waited for an hour and 45 min the first week it opened just to get a taste of home. And it was worth it. I don't like to write negative reviews, but this was the 4th or 5th time I've gotten seriously SHAFTED on my $5 two scoop sundae from this particular Culver's and no one up there gives a flying crap or offers to fix it so I'm writing a review. My two scoop turtle sundae was all Custard, 8 pecans, no cherry, and u could see a very small amount of hot fudge and caramel on the side of the dish. It's just extremely disappointing when I hit the drive thru cuz we are craving something cold & sweet and I get home and my sundae is a pathetic, sad excuse for a turtle sundae. It irritates me greatly that I paid for this. I haven't been to Culver's in a while cuz I was on strike from this branch for pretty much the same thing happening to me months ago, but on THAT instance the Custard had the texture of refrozen Custard after it had melted in the cooler and was refrozen and served to consumers. Plus I had NO Cheesecake in my two scoop flavor of the day in a dish that I had bought that day (Strawberry Cheesecake is by far one of my favorites.) It's fast food. It's fairly good fast food. Oyyyyeee...I really want to complain about the long wait, both inside and at the drive through, pretty much always, but I have become a regular at this place so it must not be too much of a hassle, and something keeps me coming back. It is the darn crispy chicken sandwich. I love it. Lettuce, tomato, pickles, and a side of barbecue sauce. I also like the Atlantic cod filet, but I wish they'd swap that super dense bun out for something a little lighter/fluffier and put some relish in their tartar sauce. Your standard side options include fries, onion rings, and cheese curds (think, bite sized mozzarella sticks)... sometimes the onion rings are good, sometimes they taste battery and undercooked. My kid loves the cheese curds. I like the frozen custard, my kid doesn't. It does freak me out when I order three meals and my total is right at $30.00. But maybe I've become my mother, and that is just normal for fast food these days. read more
