I always give this place one more try and it always fails. They might honestly be the slowest place on earth to order food from. It never takes less than 25 minutes to get two simple subs, busy or not. They prioritize all delivery orders, which is part of the problem. Tonight they have 3 workers, but only one actually makes the subs. The other two lazy asses just sit around and talk to each other. It's actually ridiculous. I ordered a gallon of cherry limeade and she actually told me she couldn't sell it to me because she didn't know how to ring it up. I said, try and figure it out. She looked down at the register and said oh, there it is. Then, another kid came out of the bathroom and slowly shuffled behind the counter. By far the worst firehouse I've been to. All 4 people behind the counter walking around like they are lost. There's 0 coordination and organization here. After I paid for my $18 sandwich, and tipped 25% I waited for 25 minutes. Asked where my food was and they said I was next to be made. Told them 25 minutes is insane to not even START a sandwitch and to not worry about it and walked out. All 4 employees were silent. Not a sorry, not a refund offer, nothing. Just jaws on the floor. Took over thirty minutes to get one sub for my son. They do not know how to prioritize online vs in person orders. There were 11 people waiting on subs. The sub was great, but the cashier might have been new, or just needed more training. We came in with a coupon, and she had to ask someone if we were able to use it. Then she didn't know how to ring it up. At our usual location, we are always asked about toppings and bread choices. I usually opt for wheat, but totally forgot to ask since it wasn't mentioned. So we ended up both getting white bread, which wasn't bad, I just prefer the wheat. My hubby and I had a firehouse sub and another sandwich from a nearby local sandwich shop. We tried both sandwiches side by side. Firehouse sub was the sandwich we liked better. We tried the pork and slaw sandwich on a Hawaiian bun. His first comment was oh that is small because it was the round hamburger bun. But how could a Hawaiian roll not win. No way, it will for sure, our sandwich had smokey pork and the cole slaw on top was perfect. We chose provolone cheese instead of Wisconsin jack. So much flavor and it was a perfect size. It was his birthday. Make sure to sign up for your birthday sandwich that is free. They send u an email. On the email it shows, u don't have to print out the email. Just let them know either by showing on your phone, or possibly showing them that's it's your actual birthdate. Getting the opportunity to try the sandwich will definitely make me go back there. Finally, a firehouse in the area that is a real firehouse! After my dismal experience(s) with the firehouse by USF, firehouse has been off my radar for awhile. But, as I was in the immediate area for an interview, I decided that I can't hold a grudge against the entire franchise since I knew it was good. Just stop for a second and realize how awesome a hot, toasty sub is with melted cheese and all the fixins....mmmm. Now, imagine the normal amount of sliced meat and DOUBLE it. That's how much meat was n my Italian when I ordered it, even though they didn't charge me for so much. So delicious! Even though it was the lunch rush, the food came out fairly quickly and I was in and out in 20 minutes. Not too shabby at all. Pretending to care. So I have not been to Firehouse for a long time. I think since Covid. Food is still good, but their setup is a joke. 1st they have a mandatory mask rule. They're in Pasco County. There is no mask order. But if they're going to have a mask rule and limited seating, why did we have to wipe off our own table? Bring disinfectant. Bathroom same stupid setup. If mask order, why not a motion sensor light? Why not a door that pushes out instead of pulls in? Why a manual door lock that you have to touch? Food still good. The chili tastes sweet, the Italian Sub tastes sweet, the meatball sub tastes sweet, the Chef Salad came fresh, but with packaged Ken's dressing. Packaged dressing went out of style ten years ago, especially for the prices here. There was quite a few ppl in there today so I knew I would wait for my food which is fine but, I was not asked if I wanted my sub "fully involved" as they call it and was not offered a kind of bread either. My sub didn't come like I wanted it because I forgot it came with tomatoes which I usually so no to fully involved. Also when I got my sub the middle was cold which is pretty disappointing as it's supposed to be steamed. The cashier was also taking two orders on the phone which was causing a line at the cash register which wasted even more of my lunch break. I asked what the number one seller is, so I ordered the #10 Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar. I switched out the cheddar cheese for provolone. The sandwich looked nothing like the picture on the menu board. Pitiful is the only way I can describe it. I could have gotten past that if it had flavor. It was one of the blandest subs I've had in a long time. I'm honestly not sure how you can mess up a sub. This was a cheat meal that's leaving me wanting more. I will have to pick up some macaroons from the mall to make up for this disappointment. So, I am a big JJ fan and hubby & son #2 love this place. I was forced to go - full disclosure. We ordered our food and my bad, totally, I didn't realize there was cheese on the sub I ordered for two of the kids to split. One of which refuses to eat cheese (DNA test pending). Well, I sucked it up and paid for another sub. I asked for ONLY turkey and lettuce. It came out with turkey, lettuce and cheese. Argh! My little one was trying to scrape the cheese off of the lunch meat and was miserable. My sub was good. I had the turkey/mushroom. Hubby loved his Italian sub and they do have a fun drink machine there. One detail I noticed that was off-putting was the pickle. Totally gross, neon green cheapie pickle. Not what I would expect from a good sub shop. I mentioned it to hubby and he said he tells them to leave it off the tray. He agrees they are gross. Oh well, I've tried this place 3 times. I just had a horrible experiencing at this location. We entered prior to the store being closed: prior to 8:30. I should note the website states they close at 9. The person taking our order was cordial; however, upon ordering there was someone in the back who yelled at extremely loud saying they were closed while our order was being taken. If it was indicated to us prior to our order being taken that the location was closed we would've left. While we were waiting for our order the same individual kept yelling profanities and was yelling about the location closing at 8:30. I want to emphasize this was after our order was taken .There was two customers that came in to pick up their orders and the same individual was making comments like: "I hope you're not placing an order because we're f***ing closed". And would say "sad f***ing story if they were placing an order". They were overall very rude in demeanor and was cussing at the other employees in the store. If the store is closed indicate that prior to the order being taken instead of making your paying customers feel extremely uncomfortable. That is completely unacceptable.
