In greater Los Angeles area where I live, we don't have Culver's. So when visiting Chicagoland, it's always a treat to go to Culver's . My nephews drove the hubby and I to this Plainfield location on a late weeknight evening in late November. I've been to another Culver's and remembered that I like the ButterBurgers. It's a fresh, grilled burger served up on a lightly buttered, toasted bun. We had just flown in from SoCal with just snacks on our flight so I was feeling a double ButterBurger and the hubby got a pot roast sandwich. I tasted his and it was delicious. The double ButterBurger was double good! Another side we don't seem to have (or I have not found something comparable yet in SoCal) are Wisconsin Cheese Curds. Culver's says they use fresh, unaged yellow and white Wisconsin cheddar cheese. They deep fry them and the bites are a warm, buttery crunch. On the receipt, there was a coupon for frozen custard which I passed on as I was adapting to the local weather. Service was good by the young lady at the counter. The Christmas decor also looked nice in the lobby/dining area. Looking forward to returning to Culver's whenever we visit the Chicago suburbs again! Terrible customer service. Complete incompetence. The last 3 drive-thru visits they forgot my order. I had to wait 20+ minutes and then go inside to inquire. This time, I required a refund and instead of the refund they initially offered me a free fry...a free bleapin' fry for 20 minutes wasted. I said "no way" and they responded with a free custard instead. No thank you, I took the refund since I cannot support bad service and accepting anything but a refund is supporting a bad business. Best part is that they have "kindness toward staff" signs posted everywhere - that clearly goes without saying but what those signs cannot be is an excuse for incompetence. Great value! Fresh! Excellent Customer Service! I rarely eat fast food ... maybe twice a month if that. And I believe this is the first time I have ever reviewed a fast food chain. In general, I have never been disappointed at a Culver's, and this particular store is one of the best. Over the past ten years I have probably eaten there over thirty times, and EVERY single time I have been there: they got my order exactly correct, the place was extremely clean and the servers (inside or outside) were very friendly and polite. I try to be fair, and to be honest this culvers location is very consistent. They have screwed up my order the last four times I've visited this restaurant to pick up food for my kids. Today was a very simple order that I went over with the drive-through person three times. I wanted my order to be correct. Today the lady repeated the order clearly and I thought we were OK. When I got home, half of my food is missing. On a positive note, they didn't charge me for all my food. I ordered. When I called the manager to complain, he didn't say anything on the phone. Not an apology not exclamation not an offer to refund me my money. Which of been simple to do because I put it on a credit card and they could've just credited my account. I went to the culvers in Plainfield, IN (it was during the corona virus thing where you could only go through the drive through) Buddy of mine was telling me how good the walleye was, he had just got some the day before. So I get the 3 piece walleye dinner (had onion rings and slaw for sides), the Slaw and onion where excellent. The fish looked good but the bottom of the fillets where real greasy, so bad it gave me an upset stomach, it was so bad that the napkins I used was soaked in grease. I cant handle a lot of grease, it gives me an upset stomach. I called the culvers in Plainfield and I talked to a young man, he was the one that cooked it, and he even apologized to me and said with this corona virus thing and being we only got the drive through working, it has been very hectic. He said next time I go there make sure I tell them what happened and they will make sure that it is don e right. I said can I get a coupon for a free meal or at least some off on the next one? He said no they cant do that sorry. I am sorry but after spending $16.01 for the meal that is not right, most places would make it up to you but Not Culvers in Plainfield ,IN. Look at all the grease on the napkins. The frozen custard had a grainy, crystallized texture suggesting it was not made or stored properly. Manager tried to explain it away saying how tricky it is to make. Whatever the reason, it was not fit to sell, in my opinion. Creamy frozen custard has always been my reason to eat at Culver's. I recommend you try a sample spoonful before buying. I usually come to Culver's for a casual lunch with some of my mates. The prices tend to be pretty darn expensive so I order the kids meal. The meal takes some time to come out which can can be a bummer.. the staff is very friendly but the drive thru just doesn't make sense. Too crowded . I would recommend going in and enjoying the atmosphere. Another thing is they are very cheap with their custard it's either not enough or just too liquidy . I've always had good drive-thru service here. It's a little slow, as they cook your food as you order, but it's worth the wait even if those cheese curds burn a little skin off the roof of my mouth. And the concrete mixers are to die for. The Mint Oreo puts the Shamrock Shake to shame! read more

I never been through the drive thru at Culvers before. We paid and they told us to pull forward. There was 5-6 cars parked in front of me already and I was like no way do we have to wait in the line for our food. They gave me a number and I didn't know what to do with it. I've been to other Culver's & this place does not compare. I usually order the concrete & their ice cream is actually watery when it should be thick. It just isn't good & I've given them a few chances, thinking they were just having a bad run. Also, they completely ran out of vanilla ice cream on my last trip there so I had to have chocolate, which tasted terrible. Really impressed by this Culver's. They were super busy on Saturday night for the dinner rush. The whole staff seemed to be high school students, but they were super efficient and friendly. We received really good service from Don. To eat, I had the crispy chicken value basket and the Reese's Peanut Butter cup concrete mixer. Everything was very good. This is the worst Culver's ever!!! EVERYTIME we go there our order is messed up. We call and manager says he is going to have a meeting regarding the employee mess ups, and guess what? I had the worst experience at Culver's tonight and I wasn't the only one. It was so bad that they basically told customers that their better off leaving. I've frequent this place for years but tonight was the worst aligned staff and service I've ever seen. To start the cashier didn't k ow about the 10 scoopie free kids scoopie meal and even argued with me about how I was mistaken. I had to read to her the coupon. I later 10 min over hear people griping about how long their order is taking. Then another piped in yeah and ur food comes out cold. A guy that ordered after me gets his order late but yet before mine. I waited 20 min for my order. Food was cold. Cheese not even melted on a grilled cheese. Reubon was awful. I realize that this is a fast-food chain, but for the price I would think you would receive higher quality ice cream than McDonalds. The "concretes" are basically a miniature scoop of ice cream with some tiny portion of mix-ins. I ordered a small concrete with Reece's pb cup. There was barely any pb cup. My husband and I ordered the fish sandwich today. We ordered it to go. It was absolutely awful. I had a stomach ache immediately after eating it. It looked nothing even close to the picture on the menu. It was a huge bun with a tiny piece of fish, if that's what you even want to call it. We ordered it with onion rings. I can't believe I am reviewing a Culver's of all places, but I've been to several Culver's locations, and I feel like this location isn't as good as most of the other ones. One time I went on a weekday evening, and I was there for almost ten minutes in the drive thru line for cheese curds and a burger. The burger was ok, but some of the cheese curds were slightly cold. I understand that they can't help that they are busy, but if I am going to wait that long in the drive thru for food, it seems like the food should be cooked all the way through. Earlier this month I decided to give this location another chance on a late Sunday afternoon. The place wasn't that busy this time. I got a shake and a sourdough melt. I've had many sourdough melts from other Culver's before, and this one was barely toasted, and cheese was only slightly melted. I put Culvers in a different category than other fast food joints. While I may prefer some burgers and fries more appealing at other places, Culvers always has the customer service to make it stand apart from others. I also love how they will walk around asking if you want to add a dessert or even, if they're feeling extra nice, they will give you a couple for a free custard.
