Driving back to Des Moines on Highway 35 after a Kansas City weekend, we were looking for a quality fast-food experience that would satisfy our hunger and we counted on Culver's consistency. We were so pleased with our decision, and so much of it was the quality of the customer service. We ordered with Kaylen, who was so kind and friendly, but she also had patience and knowledge. We met staff member Cheryl while she wandered the lobby, and she was a wonderful person who was full of niceness, a great representative of the company. After a whirlwind weekend agenda with a ride ahead of us, we truly appreciated their kind customer service. The store was clean, uncluttered, and welcoming. I liked my Grilled Chicken order, a healthy options after eating quite a bit all weekend. Fries are always good. Love their Coca-Cola beverage options. I did manage to catch my drink cup on the lip of the tray and tip everything over - the employees were right on it and we all had a good laugh about the spill. Usually, I don't usually review chain restaurants, but I'm a big fan of Culver's. I love their food and their customer service. If we want a good hamburger, we go to Culver's. They have great hamburgers and you can order whatever you want on them. They're made fresh. I love their crinkle french fries. We got a hamburger basket with fries and a chocolate shake for a reasonable price, around $24 for two (single and a double). They also have really good fried shrimp. I don't think I've had fried shrimp from anywhere else, that is any better. It's mostly younger people that work there. They are always courteous. This Culver's I less then ten minutes from my house but for some reason I don't realize it's there and don't go very often. My wife and I got back into town late after thanksgiving and wanted something to eat. We swung in Culver's to pick up something quick and easy. My girl friend recommended me this place for their bacon cheeseburgers and their cheese curds. We already knew what we wanted and we order our food. I know this was a chain restaurant, but I've never been to one before since I lived in California for the majority of my life. I think Culver's started in Wisconsin somewhere and it was only in the midwest that had Culver's. I came in around 12:30pm or so and it was pretty busy on a Saturday. I ordered a Double Mushroom and Swiss Burger and got fries and a medium drink for a total of $7.82. I picked up my table number to place on my table so they could bring out the food to the correct table. My food came and it looked good to me. The Double Mushroom and Swiss burger was pretty good and it was good that I got a double instead of a single because a single wouldn't have filled me up. A unique "fast food" experience. My chocolate shake was as close as I've ever come to a true ice cream shop quality and I can see why they call them butter burgers. Not the thickest patties, but nicely seared and full of flavor. No grey mush here! My first time here my burger was so good I loved it . Since then I have been to this location 4 more times and we have always got wonderful service each time and great food. I went through the drive thru here today for a lunch on the go. Service is EXCELLENT and so is their CUSTOMER SERVICE. The manager came out to speak to me directly and offer me a custard or shake because it was taking too long to cook the french fries. Not only did I get really hot and tasty fries, I got a yummy espresso milkshake to go with my chicken tenders. The chicken tenders were yummy and huge and the honey mustard dipping sauce was not too hot and just the right amount of sweet. I had not tried their chicken tenders before. Culver's is always one of my top picks for a quick meal on the go. Their fries are great and today was just a blessing! And this store, just like the Lee's Summit store has customer service that is artful. My experiences at these two stores has made me a loyal Culver's customer. Being primarily a vegetarian, there's not much I can usually eat, but I am a Wisconsin girl and I could not resist the siren call of cheese curds as I drove past this location. A girl needs her curds. At Culver's, the curds are adequate to dispel the craving. They are breaded, not battered, which is just wrong, but they are cheesy and melty. I also ordered their fish sandwich and was pleasantly surprised by it. The fish was an actual filet, real fish, not pressed fish-like food. And it WAS battered. A nice option if you eat fish. Lent stop number 2, tired of LJS on Fridays, so we heard Culver's had a fish sandwich, so tonight we made the run to see if their sandwich would create some march madness. They had two fish options, their standard fish sandwich, and a limited time walleye sandwich. Both are served on the fluffy grilled Culver's buns, dressed with lettuce, mayo, and shredded cheese, which we left off. Sitting down, looking at my meal, based on presentation it was in for a winner, but 3 bites in I was still looking for any flavor. The piece of fish is nice sized, not too much breading, but lacking any real flavor. White fish, inherently have a very mild flavor, so salt and pepper, or something is a must. A malt vinegar spread would do it wonders, or adding a touch of flavor to the breading. It's amazing that a national chain could create a $5, flavorless sandwich. Don't know how you feel, but when the sandwich is fishing for flavor, the fries lose their appeal. This fishing trip looks like a lot of teams in the NCAA tournament - 1 and done. read more

Visited Culvers again last night, and again was reminded that Culvers has the best "ice cream". To be fair, it's not ice cream...it's custard. Frankly, I don't give a hootnanny what you call it, you just better have it ready when I get there. They only have 2 flavors.....chocolate and vanilla, but have tons of mix-ins, can make shakes, sundaes and just about anything else you want. Just gimme the chocolate....plain. What makes it better than ice cream ? It's creamier, richer, thicker and just a touch sweeter. The food at Culvers is only OK for me. This has been several years ago and the reason I've not been back since. What I ordered was a plain double cheeseburger. I received a plain double cheeseburger, only I would rename it the mushburger. The Culvers in Liberty Commons: Food - Wow!!! We ordered the Cheddar Double Bacon Butter Burger and the Culvers Bacon Deluxe. Both were picture perfect. Gourmet appearing with a taste to match. This was our first time at Culvers and they did not disappoint in their burgers. Absolutely delicious! The meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. The ingredients looked and tasted fresh. Smush your bun to really get the buttery bun across every bite. So good. Presentation and taste beats Freddys and Steak N Shake. Presentation beats Chick Fil-A. Store- very clean, modern, layout is accommodating for a nice experience. The outside area nicely decorated with large pots of flowers. Tables clean and comfortable. Shaded tables a big plus. Clean outside as well. Personnel-Register person was helpful in providing a menu selection. Girl that brought the food out was not service friendly but also not service unfriendly; just bland. With our visit she projected a flat personality. This flatness was consistent when observed bringing food out to the cars. Very presentable young lady but maybe she is shy. Needs to work on smiling and greetings such as Hello, I have your food or Hi, here you go or just Hi. Needs to work on an exit greeting like Enjoy your meal or See you next time. Something easy and simple would be just fine...that can really go along way. Chick Fil-A has customer service on the VIP scale but Culvers food appears more gourmet with presentation and taste. So all Culvers needs to do is add a few of the recommendations and level up their customer service. The Manager came out to check up on us to make sure we were all set. He appropriatley addressed a very minor thing. He was pleasant but no smile. Only big recommendation would be to smile. No one smiling here today. Clearly hard working decent people...probably tired...it was a beautiful day so I am sure they all probably wanted to be out enjoying it. No bad apples here. Overall a big A+. I have done this two weeks in a row First Sunday: Ordered small mango smoothie, got it perfectly done First Monday: Ordered Medium Mango Smoothie, too sour and looked nothing like what I got on Sunday Second Sunday: Ordered small mango Smoothie, made just as the first Sunday Second Monday: Ordered Medium Mango Smoothie, too sour and looked nothing like what I got on Sunday So people differed on Sundays when I ordered my smoothie, but the guy on Mondays had been same... I am not asking Culvers to give me free drink, but when I pay for my smoothie I expect it to be same every single time... Consistency is one of the points in bringing back what customers... Stick with the Burger and Shakes- they are the best in town for sure. Stay away from the Fish. Their commercials make the fish look tasty with the light batter so you can taste the goodness of the Cod. All I tasted was a thick greasy batter. It was very disappointing.
