This was my first time inside of a Culver. For some reason, I thought they only sold chicken and the only meat I eat is fish. I was totally blown away, from the moment we walked in, we were greeted by several employees. I immediately noticed how clean it was, well lit, and the menu was organized and easy to read. They had cod and walleye on the menu, I went with the cod sandwich with fries and a drink, it was $11 and some change. I received a cup for my drink and a number. Vanessa provided excellent service, she answered my questions, was pleasant, and shared a cool tip about consignment stores. My food was brought to the table and the server asked if I needed anything else. The booth was very comfortable and again, everything was very clean. I couldn't believe I was in a fast food establishment. My coworker said the service and food is consistent. My meal was 10/10. Cod was flaky and perfectly breaded with the perfect serving of tartar sauce. The crinkle fries were yummy! It was up there with fish houses, and very affordable. The service was extremely slow. Ordering took 10 minutes in the restaurant with only one cashier. Food took over 20 minutes to deliver once ordered. This is not fast food. Greasy cod dinner with very tiny cod portions compared to previous years. Slow service and unhappy workers. Kitchen staff did not fill order as requested. Mishandling of food from to go container into small french fry bag. Cold fries even after ordering them HOT. Dinner roll could be used as a hockey puck. just stopped by to get some french fries. When I ate the first couple french fries I could tell that they were tasting a little weird. I then realized that they tasted like shrimp, which I am allergic to. Luckily, I caught myself before eating anymore. Not sure if the cooks aren't changing their gloves frequently enough or what but you should get this fixed because it could've costed me a lot more and I bet other people have had similar encounters. If you work in food service, you should be regularly changing your gloves and washing your hands. If somebody can taste another food on their french fries that's disgusting. Do not eat at this Culver's. We waited 45 minutes last night for our food and when we finally got it, it was stone cold and inedible. When I asked to talk to a manager, a young man responded that he was the manager and would check it out. He promptly disappeared and was never seen again. Another young man, Dillon did take responsibility and found out cold food for us which we promptly returned. One hour of my life and $14 I will never get back. Other customers were voicing similar complaints, they are totally disorganized and inept at what they do. read more

In parts of the Midwest, a thicker version of ice cream is called frozen custard. I prefer the Milwaukee area local versions, that my Mother enjoyed growing up there. However, Culver's is a fine chain restaurant alternative, and a place (the one in Ames) where I still take my 94 year-old Dad. I rarely diverge from the frozen custard choices, so I'll leave other reviewers to discuss the butter burger and other food choices. I will say that with chain restaurants, I know what to expect, and at this Culver's that's what I received. I happened to be at this Culver's in Forest Lake (North of the Twin Cities) because this was a snack and comfort break stop as my high school friend Bob/Bird and I were driving from Duluth to MSP. The frozen custard hit the spot and was filling enough that I don't remember eating anything substantial until I was at my connecting airport at Salt Lake City. Good Times! read more

This burger was naked-no ketchup or mustard or pickle. As I pulled in the parking lot I felt like I was in the Rocky Mountains because of the construction. I walked in the door and walked to the counter to order. The girl serving me was whispering and was not a people person. I sat down waiting for my food and the table was covered in crumbs I felt like I was on the beach with the amount of little crumbs. This place is pretty hyped up in the Midwest. I was eager to try cheese curds for the first time and frozen custard for the first time. When we got our food I was let down. The frozen custard tasted like normal soft serve and really didn't seem that special. Of course it was tasty (since it's still ice cream duh) but I did't get the hype. Yes my friend's it's fast food, so why bother with a lengthy review? Well, these hard working employees need some recognition too! They may be your future chef of a bigger and better restaurant, or your waitress at a swanky, pricey establishment. That being said, being a fast food burger it was rather good. It was a little greasy, but that is good, right....the bun was pretty fresh and the burger was good. I like the option of what is placed on that meaty patty, but i was hoping for a thicker patty. Maybe a 1/4 inch thick, and that is generous. Tasty deep fried onion rings, at least they varied in size and I like that in an onion ring. Overall pretty decent employees, attentive and helpful. I love Culver's. This review is about the horrible service we just received. We came on Sunday September 17th, 2017. We placed our order at 6:12pm. We ordered two burgers and two fries. Super simple. Culver's always take a long time but we didn't get our food until 6:36. Almost 25 minutes spent waiting. We would've gotten our food faster at a restaurant. It wasn't slow but it definitely wasn't busy. A family was waiting next to me and I was eavesdropping. I heard them ask the register employee how much longer. Then we all heard the manager loudly tell an employee to bring their food out and apologize to them. The young male employee said but what if I'm not sorry. The woman manager said "I get it. I'm not sorry either. But we have to at least pretend." The family wasn't happy. The employee DIDN'T apologize. And it took them 30 minutes to get their order. When I finally got my order, I got no apologies either. Our fries were warm but our burgers were cool. Definitely not even freshly microwaved. That manager should be fired. So unprofessional. I went to this Culver's today and got a salad because I'm gluten-free and vegan now. I asked for no cheese and no chicken. After waiting 20 minutes, I got my meal with chicken on it, so I told them to remake it without the chicken and to add extra walnuts. It took them 2 minutes this time to make my meal. When I got that back it had cheese. My salad was close to $10 and my needs were not met. I had also given them the receipt, so they should have seen that I asked for no cheese as well. Usually I fucking love Culver's. I always get a chopped steak dinner, family fries and my own diet drink (I take about 3 - 4 different pops and mix half of it with water). But today I got high af and ordered the usual. Instead what I got was cow udders and cold fries and I heard some people in the back rubbed their genitals on it. I normally love my experiences at culvers. It was my first time to the one in forest lake. Went to the drive thru and asked for a tuna melt sandwich. The staff said they were out of tuna, so, I ordered a chicken sandwich. I drove up and waited 15 minutes for this sandwich! The reason it took so long was because the staff person packaged the person behind me's meal, too--so that she didn't have to make two trips. By that time, my food was cold and they failed to put any condiments on the sandwich. It looked like it was simply thrown together. Truly one of the worst experiences I have ever had while dining out. I will never again eat at any Culver's because of this. It was a very slow Sunday afternoon on January 3rd, 2016. It was obvious the staff did not want to be there as it was a very unwelcoming atmosphere. I heard one employee loudly complaining about how awful it was to work there. I ordered a Culver's deluxe burger and french fries. It did not take long to receive the food, however it was cold and incorrectly assembled. When I informed the manager of the poor quality she had no problem letting me know how much of an inconvenience it would be to fix it, but grudgingly did so anyway. This was very off-putting. When the new burger arrived, it too was cold, and the cheese unmelted on the patty. Again, I took issue with the poor quality and the manager tried to explain that if I waited, the cheese would melt over time. She treated me as if I was stupid and ungrateful for wanting a hot burger with melted cheese. There should never ever be a scenario in which a paying customer should have to wait for cheese to melt in front of them on a burger. I regret not taking the unfriendly manager's name as she is not fit to run a restaurant. read more
