Usually the service here is fine, but tonight was horrible. we waited 15 minutes for 3 cups of custard and a malt, watched them remake a cup of custard with 2 toppings multiple times because they kept "accidentally messing it up", then once we finally got our order, one of the cups missed a topping, and the malt was watery. Culver's malts are ALWAYS super thick. There was one other couple in the store who got food AND custard and recieved their order before us, there were at least 5 workers sitting around in the back not productive, being very loud, and using derogatory language. I've eaten here before and it's usually very good. Today my order was sub par at best. Ordered a butter burger with no lettuce, what did it come with ... tons of lettuce. Also ordered a Ruben. It was horrible. It didn't even feel right in the wrapper. Extremely slimy and greasy. totally unappetizing. Who ever they have cooking needs to find a new line of work. I drove out from Mazo this evening to get a burger, but opted to go with the cod sandwich instead. Adding the basket items is usually a no go. But wanting a Dr Pepper changed my routine. At the window I noticed the roadside sign advertising the flavor du jour, a creamy lemon crumble. Asking the kid what it was, upon his description I was sold. "Add the sundae too please", handing him the plastic. "No problem, it's my favorite, #66, hang you number from window and move forward to next in line" he replies. 5 minutes later the runner hands me a hot bag. No creamy lemon sundae! He bolted. So I drive towards the door, and retrieve my sundae. NP. Drive back to Mazo to enjoy. NO KETCHUP!?! Unsalted fries? This blows. Seeing shredded cheese on a Fried Cod sandwich isn't something that registers. This location is 2for2 Last time I drive there they completely gave me the wrong ice cream dish as well. That time I had to drive all the way back, so even though I received the corrected Turtle Sundae, it was nearly completely liquid. This time the fries were hot at least but inedible without salt OR ketchup. My last stop at this particular location. read more

This place is literally the best! Me and my siblings get food there quite often, and it's always a delight. Service is pretty fast if it isn't a Friday or Sunday, that's their busiest time of the week. Conversations are really easy with the cashiers, they are really nice! read more

This Culver's is a frequent family visit being close to our home. Cross Plains doesn't have too much to offer, but having a Culver's is a nice, reliable option when you don't feel like putting effort into dinner for the family. I usually complain that burgers are inconsistent at Culver's. One time they'll be juicy and tasty, other times they'll be dry and overcooked. But this location does a good job and putting out consistent product. Our orders are always complex. Substitute this for that, hold this, add a coupon and a loyalty card... I *always* go in to order just so it's easier to sort my stuff out (plus I can sip on my soda while I wait). With our complex orders, there is ample opportunity to gaffe something, but as of late, they've been doing a great job of nailing the order. I commend them for that! I appreciate Culver's hiring high school students. They have a good mix of "kids" and adults on staff. I get good customer service no matter who is helping me, so they are training staff well there. Tasty. Reliable. Friendly. I'm happy to have a Culver's in town to serve our needs. read more

I went through the drive-thru on my way back to my hotel in Verona and it was a pleasant experience. I pulled up and was greeted with a happy voice. I ordered a chocolate malt and a crispy chicken sandwich. Both were awesome. The malt was top notch and the chicken sandwich tasted really fresh. They didn't have my order ready when I got to the window, which was fine, and they had me pull to forward and park. This is good but the people behind me had a hard time getting by me because the space to move forward and where I parked were so small. It was just more weird than anything. No water in the Men's room lavoratory. Soaped up my hands, no way to wash it off. Imagine the employee taking a dump and unable to wash his hands before going back to work. Customers not wearing masks and nobody social distancing. Felt very insecure. Young staff were friendly, food no different or more imaginative than all other Culvers. WIFI broken, like most Culvers. Same overpriced dismal experience that we've come to expect, although still better than most fast food places, albeit at twice the cost. read more

Service is A+ From when we order our food till when we leave, you can tell that service and smile has been instilled from the beginning. As little children will do, mine spilled her lemonade all over the table. The Culver's staff was right there wiping everything up without an attitude or eye roll. I love Culvers but this one needs......" 2 of 5 stars You would think this is a very new Culvers. The issue I have is like always if you are in the customer service industry you need to make sure you behave that way. I was addressed with "What can we make fresh for you today?". If you ask then I will share with you what I want. I asked for a burger no onion, with a side of mayo. What I got was a burger with onion and no side of mayo and they forgot one of our fries. Not a huge deal and we got over it but should be more accurate in my opinion. read more

After a bad frozen custard experience last July, my partner and I stopped at the drive thru at 8:30 last night (7/21) after American Players Theater for double scoops in waffle cones. We thought we would give them another chance. I had vanilla, she had chocolate. As we drove off I again noticed early melting, normally OK. But when I took my first bites/licks I noticed the custard was "small lumpy" (again) and lacking in any creamy, rich, smooth feel. It was too late to turn back, so we drove on to Madison and I ate/licked on. What was disconcerting were tiny fatty lumps in the custard that ended up caking on the roof of my mouth like a layer of grease. Far from any quality I expected. In defense, my partner's chocolate custard was fine and the staff was friendly, although the make-shift speaker system needs improvement. Now I have had two strikes at this Culver's. I do not plan on returning. Quality control is still lacking. Low custard standards continue. read more

If this wasn't the only fast food place in CP, I wouldn't go here. They get our order wrong at least 50% of the time. It's too much of a hassle to go back into the restaurant and ask them to remake it. A cheddar burger more often than not has American cheese. Six months later and I'm knocking off a star. The accuracy of this location run at probably less than 20℅. I'm also not understanding why gluten free buns remain packaged and the burger deconstructed. This isn't a Culvers thing because Sauk, Baraboo, Madison and every other location serves the burger correctly. Drive thru is useless. You can plan on your order being something different than what was ordered. Go in the store and check it before leaving. Even frozen custard orders are often incorrect. I am amazed at the lack of quality control behind the counter. The staff is very friendly, the kids serving are nice and polite. They just need training. If it weren't for the fact Cross Plains is somewhat remote with very limited options, I would stop coming here altogether. As I said I my previous review, I love Culvers... We visited the Culver's in Cross Plains this evening, we decided to carry out because the drive through had long lines. We should have waited in the drive through as they are the clear priority. After about 20 minutes waiting inside for a Wisconsin melt, chicken tenders and 2 fries, we finally got our food but this was after 4 other people who came AFTER us got their food. There seemed to be a ton of people working but production was slow, and it was not overly busy. If this was the first instance of bad service at this Culver's I'd let it go, however they are consistently terrible. Last week we simply got custard, a single dish of the flavor and a pint. The pint was fine, however I barely got a half scoop of custard as the single dish. As this is one of the very few restaurants in Cross Plains, we try to give them a fair chance. However I would gladly travel to Madison or Waunakee to get Culver's from now on. One positive note: the shift leader this evening was killing it! You could tell she was busting her butt to make sure everyone was helped in a timely manner. Bouncing around from the back, cooking food to helping customers. The Culver's chain as a whole is a great fast food company. However this particular franchise is sub-par compared to other locations. Unfortunately this one is closest to my house, so if I have an occasional hankering for frozen custard this is the most convenient. It is nice to have a not-so-great Culver's close by though since it keeps me from going there too often. What's wrong with this place? Mostly the service...the incompetent service. Every time I go there they mess up my order. Let's see, there's the time I waited 15 minutes for a cup of coffee in the drive through, there's the time I ordered a chicken sandwich at the drive through and brought home a bacon cheese burger, there's the time I ordered a cookie dough caramel concrete mixer and I had to tell them how to make it, there's the time I ordered a small lemon ice and they over charged me and it took 3 people to figure out what the correct price was, there's the time I had a coupon and they didn't know how to apply the discount. With all orders there are always a long wait, even if I am the only person in line and it's for a simple quick order. When it comes to making corrections the people working there are not friendly. Cross Plains is "famous for friendliness," but you'd never know it eating there. If you find yourself on highway 14 and need to get "Culverized," I suggest waiting till you get to Middleton or Spring Green and go to one of those Culver's. read more

I love Culver's. For some reason I never recognized Culver's and always skipped it for somewhere else. That was a big mistake. I started going there more often and started getting the butterburgers. I love them so much. This location is like many of all the other Wisconsin Culver's locations. The manager was very rude and yelling at people and customers as of what I saw, that attitude needs to stay at home and yelling is not how people learn. Culver's butter burgers are the only fast food burgers I'll ever eat, they are sit down restaurant quality if not better. I also really enjoy their breaded chicken really nice pieces of all white meat tenders. And the cross plains mount horeb and dodgeville locations have a rewards program which I've been using for a while now, I haven't earned a reward yet so I'm not sure what they are, but I'm close! There are also days where they offer really good deals on specific items (like hot fudge sundaes on national hot fudge sundae day, or dollar burger day) those are some of my favorite times to visit. Dodgeville store is lacking on food quality or availability repeatedly. Service is fine but every time we visit there always seems to be a disappointing issue with a menu item on our order. One time they were out of banana's so unable to make a sundae. Out of vanilla custard the next time so I was unable to order a malt. This last time I received a Wisconsin melt loaded with burned, very bitter onions that I couldn't finish. I keep trying the place hoping for improvement, for the prices charged I would expect better consistancy and quality. read more
