Horrible. Went there Sunday and the girl at the front taking the orders IS RUDE and ignorant. My client was asking for chicken finger and she proceeded to say "We don't have chicken fingers!" This place is "da bomb diggity!" Everything I have ever tried is super delish (I highly recommend the mushroom swiss single. Doubles are way too filling!) The fries are crinkly little pieces of bliss, and if you're talking shakes and frozen treats, there is nowhere in Bradenton (well, maybe the Shake Pit) that is better. Freshly made frozen custard in a featured Flavor Of The Day is available in cups, cones, waffle cones, concrete mixers, sundaes and shakes. To say that one's culinary options in Bradenton are limited after 10pm is an understatement. Unless you're willing to subject yourself to WackArnold's or the Taco Hell drive through, options are rather limited. Thankfully, Culver's emerges like a beacon in the night to save you from your hungry doldrums! For the uninitiated: Culver's is a fast food joint with Midwestern roots (Wisconsin, to be exact) that prides itself on using fresh, quality ingredients, produced right here in the good ol' U-S-of-A. No processed fries that will live in your gut til next decade, no pink slime meat, or creepy soft serve that somehow became nuggets. All the burgers are grilled to order, and if you're dining in, they'll be delivered to your table just as soon as they're ready. Oh, and the menu is expansive. Not in a burger mood? How about a plate of pot roast, accompanied by green beans, mash n' gravy? They can do that. And the custard! Oh, the custard... but I'm getting ahead of myself. The Mister, his cousin (the local) and I got to Culver's right around 10pm after an evening at an event in Tampa. Truly, this place was our saving grace, as we had missed dinner and (as alluded to earlier) had no other quality options. We each ordered burgers (I did the Culver Deluxe) and sides - they went with the crinkle fries, and I with the cheese curds. We took our seats, and our meals were up in minutes, hot and fresh. While I am a fan of a thick, rare burger all day, Culver's builds a strong case for the opposite - their patties are thin, yet not at all dry, with crisp edges. They balance nicely with the soft, lightly buttered buns, REAL Wisconsin cheese, and fresh, crunchy veggies. The cheese curds were an interesting departure from the typical side - crunchy exterior, gooey, cheesy interior... And again, REAL cheese - not day-glo orange chemical crap. We all were full... but could not stand the temptation of their custard, which is made fresh daily, in small batches. While they did still have their " Flavor of the Day" (Orange Creamsicle), we kept it simple - chocolate shake, small vanilla concrete with Heath, and a one scoop caramel cashew sundae. I will let the fact that we all consumed every last bit do the talking for me. SO good. I'm capping this review at four stars, mostly so I have a reason to go back and try other stuff. Finally asked only to find out it was made but coded wrong and was sitting there unclaimed. Need a better system for take out orders. It's great that they employ a lot of teens, but it seems there is no one on site to oversee that things are done right. We ordered two Double Deluxe Burgers. Wait was slower than typical fast-food burger joints but it is because they are not cooked until you order. On the very short ride home, we noticed that we did not smell the burgers. Typically, the smell of the food you have ordered, will fill the car with good smells but these burgers could not be detected. That was odd. Once home, & the bag was opened, they did have a good smell. The size was good but is definitely overpriced, I would have been very pissed about that, except we did have a coupon, which brought it down to what price it should be.
