    Fish Dinner
    Paul P.

Culver's isn't something I grew up with as there wasn't one in my part of town, but it was pretty okay. I'd say you really do need to stick with the butterburgers, custards or shakes, and the sides. The chili isn't half bad either. I tried the fish dinner here and while they're pretty big (big price, but big portion), it was a bit dry and flavorless. The sauces helped, but they really need to fill the sauce cup all the way if they're charging for it, as I didn't even get half. The cheese curds are okay, but the breading itself is way too salty, and pretty sure the cheese would've been on the saltier end on its own. The roll was fine with butter, which seems to be a recurring theme here. I remember the onion rings being good, but their crinkle fries need some work. I'd say Culver's need to play to its strength. And fill up the effing sauce cup, because the fries or fish is going to be terrible without it!

I used napkins to pull some of the oil from the batter.

The frozen custard here is spectacular. As I was having my chocolate decadence two scoops today, the thought went through my head "You know, I think that I prefer the density and texture of this to Italian gelato." Both work from a custard base, eggs, when done right. A few months back I had seen a YouTube video of a Brit who was taste testing fish and chips around the US. He tried the one at an East coast Culver's franchise and gave it a thumbs up. So, a few months back, I visited the Fulshear location and tried it. Their batter sucked up a lot of oil and the oil temp was off so it was really greasy. They kindly made a fresh batch for me and treated me to a butter pecan frozen custard for my patience. It was just okay. The owner of this franchise reached out to me and advised that they work really hard to have quality fish. For me the issue was not the fish, which is really good, but their particular batter that absorbs so much oil. Note: having lived in the UK, I've had a lot of fish and chips there. So a trip today to Katy to pick up some things at Nellis put me near to their Katy location. And I saw that they are featuring walleye currently. I ordered the 3 piece fish with two sides of cole slaw as I think their fries are forgettable. About $21. The fish was really good, but again, the batter recipe they've come up was not one that I was thrilled by. Great crunch but I needed to grab napkins and remove as much grease as possible in order to enjoy the meal. I finished off with that afore mentioned chocolate decadence and enjoyed it so much I ordered a two scoop vanilla with marshmallow cream after. The photo shows the stylized photo and the actual order. The second photo shows the oil I removed from the batter. Service...first rate. They've trained their staff well. Such nice people, going the "extra mile:. My compliments. Ambiance. Clean, fun environment. I am already dreaming about coming back for the frozen custard. Not the fish, but the custard for sure.

Service was good and the inside was clean The food on the other hand is subpar. The burger is actually a smash burger and it was very greasy French fries... nothing special about them Fish sandwich. No flavor and the choice of bread is to dense and not good.

+The cod fingers were fire. +Customer service was okay. +Loyalty rewards program for the whole family. +Kids get free ice cream with their meals. -The onion rings were stuck together and deep brown, oily. -The cole slaw could use some work. -The restaurant space was a bit untidy.

    Patty melt, mushroom/Swiss and FFs

Wife and I were in the area and it was lunchtime. Saw Culver's and both commented we'd never ate a Culver's. So in we go. Guy behind the counter was super friendly in explaining how to order and what are some of their more popular choices. The wife went with the Swiss/mushroom burger and I went with the patty melt - both single patty. And made it a combo with FFs and drink. We were not disappointed my patty melt was spot on and she loved the one she got. FFs were hot and crispy. Pricing - great - under $20 and no tip line. Most times we split a meal and it's at least $20. Not here. And they brought it to the table. Definitely will be in our rotation.

tThe food I was served wasn't what was advertised on the menu. I didn't notice the appearance of my sandwich until I arrived home. I immediately went back and encountered the absolute rudest, snarky, and unprofessional manager I've ever had an exchange with. NICOLE HAS NO BUSINESS BEING A MANAGER !! She had a very nasty attitude from the beginning & everything she replied to me was snarky and rude. She repeated argued with me about MY DISSATISFACTION WITH THE FOOD I PAID FOR. She did this in front of other patrons and employees. Is this the standard? Is this the kind of behavior your employees are allowed to exhibit, especially MANAGEMENT?? To add insult to injury she didn't even fully refund me. I need a follow up from upper management immediately.

I have not had Culvers since I was a kid. Brought back many memories with my mom and family. Ordered a mushroom Swiss Burger with a combo. Tried their in-house root beer. Meal looked small, yet was filling. Good burger, really good bun. I haven't had crinkle cut in a long time, yum. Good service and manager stopped by to ask how food and service was. Glad I came out here to try it.

Tried Culver's the other day, their double bacon cheeseburger was really good. Bun was soft, burger was thick! The crinkle fries hit the spot, and the cheese curds were solid too. The location is terrible, so much congestion in that area, said 4 miles on maps, took 19 minutes to get there....may not go back Just to add to this, the food was great...first time trying 8/10

Culver's Sauce was horrible. Fries were mid and tenders were decent. I've heard good things about this place but first meal was mid.

Food is good but they need to speed up on getting your food to you. One time, I waited 20 min. Since they lost my number! Geez

I know the name is Old School Burger but the owners are from Venezuela and they have some back home…read morerecipes. One of them is the papusaa. I ordered the Loco, off the menu, but from a trusted source. And a bottle of Modelo Negra to set the mood. The plate came out and the papusa was huge. Big as the plate. With a side of slaw and tomato dipping sauce. I was set. I'm not a slaw fan so sent that back but got to the main event quickly. The Loco Papusa had pork meat, beans, spinach and chz. It was amazing. Ive had Papusas from Central America and thaw are the two deal. I've had their burgers and the Papusas ame both are great can't go wronh.

Offers beer, wine, and happy hour The old school Burgers I'm used to: Toast their buns and I love a toasted bun. They also offer Turkey burgers. I've tried the turkey burger once and the meat patty reminded me of a smash burger style patty, so next time, I think I'll get two. I also customized the burger with bacon, blue cheese, pickles, and a hard fried egg which made for a nice addition of flavors. Queso tasted home made. Cleaned the bowl! Sweet potato fries, let's say they've managed to achieve a nicely cut proportionate fry with the authentic sweet potato flavor and texture that's not soggy.
