ZERO STARS - Culligan Windsor CT is the Worst Company I've Ever Dealt With If I could give negative stars, I would. Culligan's Windsor, CT office is an absolute disgrace to customer service. My wife and I were both told--on two separate occasions--by the same unbelievably rude front desk woman that if we didn't like the fact our water wouldn't be delivered (which we pay for), we could just "come pick it up ourselves." Excuse me? We're paying you for delivery--not for sass and disrespect. Even worse, I canceled the service months ago and requested that they pick up their water cooler. They never showed. Never followed up. Then, out of the blue, they call to confirm a delivery I never asked for. It's like they're running this place with blindfolds and earmuffs. Now they're trying to tell me I owe $399? For what--ghost deliveries and ignored service calls? I even contacted corporate and was told it would be handled. Spoiler alert: it wasn't. The same nonsense continues. No one knows what they're doing, and no one seems to care. This isn't just bad service. It's disgusting. I've never been treated so poorly by a company in my life. At this point, I'm considering getting the media involved just to shed light on the circus act they're running over there. Avoid this company like a glass of dirty water. Water is orange and unusable, service from Culligan is almost non existent if needed quickly. They expect you to wait for weeks without potable water. Definitely do not recommend. Find a local dealer, and save yourself the aggravation and stress. read more

1 Star is to many - Be very careful, the sales rep promised so many things and didn't deliver. We selected Culligan to Put in a water filter and water softener system because of the reviews. It was not a good experience at all. - The sales rep promised many things such as a flawless set up, and we would be very happy with the system and service. 1. The first tech sent out to install the system ran piping across the basement, which led to the water pressure being very slow in the house. 2. He also ran the backwash pipe under our laundry shoot making it unusable. 3. He drilled holes that were not necessary in the wall and floor joists. I told the installation tech that the set up was unacceptable. After many phone calls to Culligan Maintenance department Manager, they finally sent out another tech to look at the damage. At our request, He walked through what he would do to correct the issues. He also agreed to fix holes that were made unnecessarily. Mind you we started the process in April and this took until September to fix. The 2nd tech came out several times because the system kept back washing for hours. He did find the issue in September and fixed it. We were also told by the Manager of the maintenance area that we would receive 1 year of free maintenance only to find out that no one every documented it so now they are expecting us to pay for it. - The sales rep had us fill out an application for financing which he never put through. 1. The Sales rep promised we would get copper piping as we already had. This did not happen. 2. We were promised a flawless installation. As you see above that did not happen. 3. The sales rep said he would be here the day of the installation to ensure all went well. He was not here and when we came across problems I sent him a text message, but he was not helpful at all. 4. We filled out an application for financing, were approved. Never received a bill and 2 weeks ago I received a bill from a collection agency. I contacted the agency which referred me back to Culligan. They told me that the financing was never put through from the sales rep. I told them I feel like this is retaliation. The Lady I talked to at Culligan promised I would hear back from Her and it's been 2 weeks and I have not heard back. read more

We have been a customer for over 20 years. Had the original system installed in 2003. We are in Connecticut. We have not had any issues with service, maybe one no show over those 20 years. We do rent the equipment from them which may make a difference. Lately though and this is where the 2 stars come from the billing system has got terrible. No monthly charges for 3 months, then a giant bill. The last time the bill came in at $750 a manual payment went through, then an automatic payment happened. So I have now had a credit with them for almost 2 months of $750. The kicker is a new bill came in on time, and instead of pulling from the credit, it charged me the full amount. Its been very difficult to get them to credit the money back to me. Called today, and the customer support person reacted as if I had not talked to anyone previously about getting my credit back. read more

I'm SO disgusted by the lack of follow up and customer service with this company. I had Ken install a water softener and purification system almost one year ago, which is now backing up with a disgusting brown sludge and threatening to spill over. I've left multiple emails and phone messages, was shouted at and "talked over" by one of their female office staff attempting to shut me down because she just didn't want to hear it, and then promised to call me back and that never happened. After reading all of the other horrible reviews, it's no wonder this is a company to avoid like the plague. Its been a couple of weeks now. So if I don't hear from them by Monday to arrange for a certified technician to come out and fix my awful tank, I'm running straight to the BBB to file a formal complaint. 12/5/2023 Update: Here we go again. The delivery scheduled for 12/4 was missed. When we called late in the day to ask about the scheduled delivery, we were told the same old tired lie; that being the driver was on his way. Of course, as has happened in the past many times, NO DELIVERY. This is a pattern. When they will miss a delivery, the corporate line is they are on their way. Again, obviously, a lie. Fast forward to this morning. Called again and yet again the same old behavior was followed. That being we were told the delivery would hopefully be today, and Janet hung up on us when asked if she knew approximately what time. History suggests when she hangs up on a customer it means she doesn't want to deal with it and most likely there will be no delivery. Chaos and rude behavior at its worst. Sorry, not sorry to say Culligan. Your patterns of behavior are painfully obvious when deliveries go wrong. Somehow you think you are fooling your customers, but you are not. Not smart behavior. Perhaps a little honesty when things go wrong would be the better approach. We certainly understand stuff happens but lying about it never helps. Do not use Culligan. We inherited this system when we bought the house and it's been nothing but issues. Brine tank has overflowed TWICE and after a service call, the tech forgets to regenerate and we have salty water in our plumbing. Because we didn't realize it until hours later, we have SALT on some of our water using appliances. Is culligan going to pay me back if any of these appliances break as a result? I'm not going to hold my breath. To top things off, all appointments are almost a month out because their tech only services an area like once a month so good luck getting servicing. I was a loyal customer of Culligan for 34 years. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY ! Currently the company appears to be completely mismanaged, missing deliveries, delivering tanks that had not been flushed properly or at all, and management that disregards customer service. The only thing consistent with this company in the last few years was their billing! I paid my monthly exchange tank bill only to realize that the tank delivered was more often than not a previously used tank ! My water was being "filtered" through someone else's iron build up and I can only imagine what else! It got to the point that the water from an outside tap that didn't go through the tank was clear and water being filtered through the Culligan tank was brown ! I ruined sets of sheets and towels with staining from their tanks , not my water! It got to a point that I was unable to do laundry in my home ! Not once during all this frustration was I contacted by management! I never asked for special service, I simply expected a clean tank in exchange for the monthly bill. I have stopped using Culligan and am extremely pleased with my current independent contractor. My water has never been cleaner and softer! Their techs do a good install, but their office so screwed up it's not funny. we had a new softener system installed at the end of June and financed it through Aqua Finance. They haven't had an office manager since at least early June and apparently until push comes to shove no one is capable of putting the finance paperwork through until one is billed for the entire amount by them and suddenly you get notified your credit has been checked. you are told to ignore any further bills from them, only to be billed gain a month later AFTER Aqua Finance has taken a direct payment from your bank! You call and leave a message for a call back that is ignored, so you call and leave another message that finally gets a call back, to be told, oh, they still don't have an office manager and their computer system hasn't yet caught up to the payment until, surprise! that moment. you are told that now they can see this you shouldn't be billed again. So, what comes in the mail today? a demand notice from their main office. At this point I will call Illinois where this bill came from and tell them to either straighten this out or come and get the system out of here NOW. I inherited a Culligan water softener and R.O. system when I purchased my home in 2017. I had minimal issues with their service or salt delivery until 2022. However, in the last year I have experienced significant issues with this branch. It began with salt/filter deliveries being dumped in front of my garage when the delivery people used to bring the salt into my house, fill the tank, and change the filter. More recently, Culligan has begun skipping deliveries altogether without notice, while still charging me a monthly fee for the service. Finally, I have been trying to schedule the yearly service of my system since the fall. On two occasions now I have called and confirmed an appointment for a specific day, taken time off of work to be here for the service person to come, and then on the day of the appointment I've called to confirm what time someone is coming only to be told that they do not have the service appointment on the calendar. I am baffled how this is possible unless someone is simply deleting service and delivery appointments off the calendar. read more

However, in the last maintenance, they claim they came for the annual service, tested the water, and diagnosed that the water pressure was good, at least that what customer service said when I was charged $165. There is not evidence they came and in fact I had another appointment to clean up the water softener tank. this company has gone downhill over the time and in fact, they have become the worst company I ever dealt with in Connecticut. Run from this company!!! I'm so Disappointed in the customer service with the Culligan Water company employees! The delivery driver came out and said the system isn't working properly. My wife and I have left numerous messages and phone calls to have are water softener system serviced. We had their professional water tester come out to the house and test our water prior to the purchase and stated that a water softener system would solve our issues with the colors On the surfaces. Now we still have the colors in the bath tube and sinks. We finally got through to a person over the phone. Lori is the person I spoke to about making to appointment to be serviced, I explained the situation and it is emergent that we have to fix immediately. Instead of accommodating an already cancelled appointment that no one bothered to call us to reschedule, and giving us priority, they pushed us off. So, I had a pulse feeder replaced by Culligan. The technician replaced it and we paid the bill, in full, at the time of the installation. Payment included the new feeder and the service fee of $175. In total, it was close to $675 in total. Our check was cashed. Within a month I began to receive a bill claiming we owed an additional $82 because they had mistakenly under-charged us for the cost of the pulse feeder. They attached a late fee, as well after the second month I didn't pay the extortion attempt. After that, I called and spoke, politely, but definitively to a billing representative from the Windsor office to tell her exactly what took place and that I had no intention to be scammed into paying any more than what was paid in full, per the invoice, at the time of installation. While polite, the billing rep, claimed that her GM Jim, and other managers had met and determined that the original invoice price of the pulse feeder was significantly under-priced by THEM, and that I was actually paying far less than it cost them for the equipment. So they decided I should just pay $82 more. Their supposed mistake is my problem? I think not. Insulting and completely unprofessional and i suggested they call me if they want to continue to discuss this, but that I had no intention of paying anything more than what was paid. 3 weeks later, no call, just another bill with more late fees. BBB, State Attorney General's office, and small claims perhaps. 0 star rating. This place has no business being in business. If Corporate Culligan has a say, they'll be hearing from me, as well. read more

Probably the most unprofessional organization I've ever had the displeasure of working with. Culligan of South Windsor CT...headed by an empty suit by the name of Jim O'Hara. Had a Culligan water softener replaced Fall 2018. Installer error caused a flood in my finished lower level within 24 hours of the installation...completely destroying a fully renovated in-law apartment. On the day of the event Mr. O'Hara called me and assured me Culligan would stand by their mistake and take care of us...further expressing his intention to be there for me and my family as we worked through the claim. Well...that was the one and only time I heard from this so-called "General Manager." Subsequent to the install...Culligan advised they would do a follow-up visit with 2 weeks to check the system for proper functioning....well that follow-up visit never occurred. Then there's the automatic salt delivery that I signed up for.....yeah...they failed to deliver on that as well. I was forced to go out and purchase salt on my own..not a big deal, but why should I have to when I signed up for auto delivery? So...I settle my claim with their insurance company...actually helped their insurance carrier mitigate the loss in several ways, because I'm in the insurance business and am an honest/professional person. Now comes the kicker......the system begins to malfunction within 4 months of installation. System not regenerating and I'm forced to manually regenerate/flush the system; so I call them to express my concerns/frustration. I was told by the Service Manager....(I'll withhold his name, because he seems like a nice enough guy)...that "the salt was not delivered, because the employee that was doing the deliveries was falsifying delivery paperwork and wasn't actually delivering the salt and had to be fired. (paraphrase)" Then when I asked why no follow-up check on the system I was told that was another staffing issue. You would think in a case such as mine the "General Manager" would be involved and doing everything they could to assist the customer and act in good faith...well that would be wishful thinking, because my phone calls don't get returned..they act like somehow I'm causing them a problem, when in fact all I did was pay their company to install a water softener and it was my life..my house that was turned upside down. I will say the salesman (Jim Pickles) was excellent...showed compassion and concern for our situation....unlike Empty Suit O'Hara, who hides from customers who are experiencing problems with Culligan products/services. So...fair warning to those who are contemplating doing business with Culligan of South Windsor, CT....they're shady...dishonest...unprofessional and incompetent...seriously...I'm embarrassed for these people....simply wow!! Pack it up Mr. O'Hara...you have no business being in this business... PS...we'll be finding a new water softener/company, because you don't deserve our business.. My father in law has a system where there is a sediment filter and a swappable tank, the tank gets replaced every month. It was originally put in this was because the original well for the house was so shallow they couldn't do a permanent system that you just add salt to and it flushes every day. Culligan is the only company we are aware of that offers this type of service. I wish I could give them less than 1 star. Literally screwed over a senior! I was told that there was new management last year, they started billing in advance so my father in law got behind in his bill in October because he is on a fixed income and couldn't afford a double bill. In November we managed to get it caught up so you would think Culligan would deliver a tank in December, right? No. But they sure as hell billed him. They finally delivered a tank in January, the tank was bad so they had to come out and deliver another. They sent an older gentleman to swap the tanks and he couldn't lift the used one out of the basement so we were charged for both tanks because he couldn't remove it. Again in February they brought us a bad tank and had to come back and swap it out. They kept charging him for all of this even though it was on them, they charged him for December even though he received no service because there was a tank (but the tank was not being used because it was no longer good) in the house. So whether or not they actually do their job and provide service they expect payment. They now have his bill up well over $300 and he can't afford to pay it so he has had to cancel the service. They had him over a barrel, he cannot afford to put in a permanent system on his income and a filter is required because the mineral composition makes the water so hard it destroys appliances. Up until this new management we have never had an issue with this company but they have gone to hell and are completely unethical. read more

After purchasing our home, we wanted tor replace prior leased WS system from Culligan. The leased system relies on offsite backwashing of the softening system. The salesman made a great financial pitch for a purchased, not leased system, so we purchased. The system backwashes into our sceptic tank. However, we later found out that the purchased system is prohibited by state statues for sale in CT. We went back to the company to replace with a leased/offsite system. The company gave us runaround, passing us between various departments and even denying the legal prohibition. We had to prove to them that the prohibition was in fact in place for many years prior. How could they operate a CT-licensed company and CT-based system without knowledge of applicable laws in the state? The matter is unaddressed and unresolved by the company as of now. read more

Called for service for complete system failure (softener, iron and manganese filters). Have to wait for week and a half to two weeks for service tech to come to house. Had culligan for 35 years and service wait time progressively got worse over the years. Their business model is broken especially when it comes to customer service. It finally came to a head and I had their system completely removed and replaced with a competitors. I would never recommend Culligan again. Turned to my husband, rudely asked for his check and said they'd some out with a quote. Zero Stars. Avoid this company like the plague. We've had them for a few years, and there is always something they screw up or forget to do. The system itself works great, the technicians that service it never seem to have a clue. Over the past few months our water had terrible pressure, like there was a severe issue with the well or pressure tank. I was ready to make an expensive service call to a plumber as my shower had turned into a literal trickle of water. Turns out the technician had installed the filters in reverse order, so the first filter (a finer filtering material) was clogged up. The guy actually came to the house twice in one week, and when reminding him he was just here, he seemed to have no clue about that. Also, if you call their customer service, they are useless and incompetent. Every answer is basically "we are sorry, but there is nothing we can do". How about giving your staff adequate training? That would be a start as well as not charging them for services that are not performed. It's sad that as a customer who has touched the filter system a total of 1 other time, immediately I knew the filters were installed backwards just from looking at them. Pathetic. I have to say that I am about to give up on this company. When I was looking for quotes for a water filtration system, they come to test your water whenever it was convenient to me. But when you need actual service, they are only available from 8am to 3pm. Monday through Friday. I work 7am to 4:30. Saturday is a rarity for them. I don't trust to leave keys to for a stranger to enter my house no matter how much they claim it is safe. I just don't understand how any service company would not have at least early evening hours a day or two during the week. Very frustrating. read more
