We were cooking with beer but they didn't show case or mention the beer, seemed like the teacher was learning the recipe herself ... The staff was nice and attentive, but the reason for my one star review is due to their lack of care for health and safety standards. They don't tell everyone to wash their hands (nor did I see them wash their hands when handling food)...they say they pre-rinsed the fruits and veggies but the stickers were still on it...and the biggest issue and reason for my one star review was that the chef dropped one of the steaks on the floor, wiped if off with a towel and put it back on the grill and served it!!!

Cheri and her very friendly and helpful staff assisted each cooking station as needed, and kept each team moving at a nice pace. They welcomed our added decor, games, etc. I purchased alcohol through the Hood Kitchen. The add on chocolate tasting was a fun way to cap the event. Post event recipes sent digitally. All the guests were engaged throughout the event. I highly recommend!

Even after the 1st day my meals at home were suddenly consistent and significantly better. 12 weeks later and I am confidently relaxed in my kitchen. I enjoy the ease that I feel now; from preparing dinner, menu planning, temp control, and little tips you just can't learn on google. Learning in person from Chef Jason and Chef Ben with a group of funny, eager, and caring adults has really shaped how I can give back to my family. This was the common denominator for all the students in our course. We wanted to learn a new skill to share with the ones we care about most, our families. "I haven't made a sh**** meal since day one of this course" - quote from my fiancé Take the leap and invest in yourself and your family plus laughing about it along the way is always a plus.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The class covered all the bases of what you could learn in a beginners cooking class. From potion, to fish, to veggies, to knifes skills it is a good balance. The pace was not too fast but not too slow. We would learn about a subject, watch the chef cook it and then do it ourselves. I really liked my chef instructor explained things thoroughly but not overly controlling. One of the best parts is you got to take your a recipe sheet home with everything you learned that day and the food that you made, my husband and my kids always loved that. Over all it was a great experience and I will be back for more classes!

I had joined her awhile back and despite having difficulties of my own, I had fun and the cookies are delicious. After the first experience I have returned on numerous other occasions and do feel I have progressed a bit with my decorating skills but all in all its about the fun. The cookies are always well themed and we enjoy eating these for several days afterward. It really doesn't matter what the end product looks like as long as you have fun creating your masterpiece. As Frank on Everybody Loves Raymond would say, the stomach knows not ugly and these are delicious no matter the result. I will definitely return again soon for more of these classes and highly recommend checking them out for something different, fun and challenging

My partner and I took this cooking class as a date experience. While our chef was truly wonderful,…read morekind, welcoming, and very professional, the overall class didn't meet our expectations for the price. The class structure made it hard to learn honestly. instead of cooking step by step together, all instructions were given at once and we were left to cook independently, which was overwhelming and difficult to remember details like which ingredients to add/when, how long to cook things for and proper technique, especially for beginners. A power outage that required sharing burners added to the disorganization. We were also surprised to be required to share ingredients (including raw meat) with someone we didn't know across from us, which felt awkward for an expensive date experience. There was no clear wrap up at the end, and people began eating and leaving without much direction. Again our chef was great, and we enjoyed the stories and history behind the dishes, but overall the cooking lesson experience didn't match the cost or the hands on learning we were expecting.

Did you know macarons are gluten-free?…read more I took a macaron making class at The Gourmandise School, and it was quite fun & informative. Seeing the process on how those delectable treats are made, gave a greater appreciation each time I wolf one down. Clemence was a great instructor, patient with newbies, explaining things simply & gracefully. I thought creating the unique fillings would be the most daunting task, but they came out great. Located on the 3rd floor of Santa Monica Place, the classes at The Gourmandise School are the perfect opportunity for those intimidated by pastry-making & cooking. I had an absolute blast, and recommend everyone scheduling a future class at The Gourmandise School.

Brown rice was cooked beforehand and other ingredients were later added to give it flavor. We then placed the rice onto seaweed nori sheets, added vegetable ingredients of our choice and rolled it with a rolling mat. Was eaten with miso soup. Great group and definitely a worthwhile hands on experience. The class consisted of 5 students. There were supposed to be 6 but we had one no show. Cost for the class is $54 and they're held in various locations around Orange County. Would have been nice if white rice was also provided which I do prefer to brown rice. After the class ended, we were provided with recipes for the food we tried which added a nice touch.

My boyfriend, who is also vegan, came with me and we ended up getting an accidental private class because of some cancellations. While it probably would've been just as good with other people attending, it was really nice to meet Kelli and have her give us some more personalized tips and answer our questions. She's super easy to talk to and very friendly! We attended the Whole Foods/Plant Based class and made four recipes in about an hour and a half and then sat down to eat. The recipes were an African peanut stew, lentil Bolognese, a kale salad, and a berry crumble for dessert. Kelli explained that she uses these recipes in her other classes sometimes but, as it was the Whole Foods class, we'd be making them without oil or refined sugars. I love to eat healthy but I'm also a huge fan of some classic vegan comfort food so I gained a lot of great tips that I didn't know before! Overall I felt like this class really demonstrated to me that I don't always need to rely on a cook book or recipe. Plus, I diversified my cooking repertoire with some whole foods tips! Kelli made the recipes feel really flavorful but simple and they all consisted of affordable and easy ingredients that I'd probably already have lying around. (One tip for classes of a smaller size: we had lots of leftovers so make sure you bring some containers to take things home! We brought two but that wasn't quite enough)
