That alone already set him apart. After speaking with me and learning that I'm selling my deceased Aunts house and simply looking for the most cost-effective option, Brett actually recommended that I purchase a motor myself and even sent me the Amazon link. He knew right away that he probably wouldn't be getting the job. I'm also quite a distance away, and if Brett had done the work, he would have installed a higher-quality motor and done it the right way. But this review isn't about getting the job--it's about integrity and customer service. Brett took the time to help, educate, and point me in the right direction even though he knew there was no business in it for him. That kind of honesty and willingness to help is rare these days. I only wish Murdoch Pool Service was closer to me in Escondido because I would absolutely use them for my own pool service. Thank you, Brett, for taking the time to help and for showing what real customer service looks like!

Allen and his team put so much heart and dedication into making our dream pool. The original price quote to the finalization was very close matching, Allen is honest and trustworthy, without adding extra costs. The dig to the time it was finished went fast and shows how Allen and his team are hardworking. The 3D image that Allen originally showed us matched the pool we are looking at today. Today it is finally completed and it exceeds our expectations and dreams. Stacey was always helpful in guiding the process to start and get the permit completed. Allen and his other workers, specifically Ryan are honestly so kind and helpful. They went out of their way to do things they didn't even have to do. This company not only does exceptional work, but are caring people. The pictures do not even show the true beauty. I will recommend Taylor-Made Pools to anyone looking. First, Allen Taylor is a real pool expert and a genuinely nice, honest person. He is exactly the kind of man I love doing business with. When my pool tiles starting dropping off the wall and into the pool Allen came out quickly, assessed the problem and gave me a very reasonable price and timeline for the repair. His crew is the most hardworking team of nice, clean, punctual professionals I have seen. They are real perfectionists. They had the work done in two days and everything looked beautiful! We recently hired La Costa Custom Pools for a major pool remodel, and the entire experience…read moreexceeded our expectations. We researched a bunch of different pool companies and asked for quotes and we went with La Costa Custom Pools. The scope of work included remodeling our waterfall feature, installing a new water slide, upgrading the pool control box, adding a salt cell system, replacing all pool lights, repairing cracks and chipped concrete, and repainting the trim around both the pool and spa. From start to finish, the craftsmanship and attention to detail were outstanding. Communication throughout the project was exceptional. We were consistently kept informed about timelines, next steps, and any adjustments. On the rare occasions when work had to pause due to rain, we received clear notice in advance. We never had to guess what was happening or when crews would arrive. Cory managed the project closely and made sure everything stayed on track. He brought in Bob, a master pool structure builder from Great X-Scapes, and along with Peri, they built an incredible waterfall and water slide that not only look amazing but are clearly built to last for years. As with any remodel, a few minor issues surfaced after completion. The trim paint began to chip due to a product issue, and there was a significant leak from an old pipe nipple in the existing pool setup. In both cases, Cory and Bill responded immediately. The entire trim was redone without hesitation, and the leak was repaired quickly and properly. That level of accountability and follow through speaks volumes. The project was originally quoted at around two months, and they completed it in just over one month without sacrificing quality. We couldn't be happier with the final result and would confidently recommend La Costa Custom Pools to anyone looking for professional, high quality pool work!

Fernando Molina with Molina Pools IJF is an unlicensed contractor who did fraudulent work at my…read moreproperty of a pool refinish, tile, coping and deck remodel with a lack of professionalism that was absolutely shocking. He took on a scope of work way outside his capabilities and presented past jobs as a reference as though they were his work when they were not. He installed a very bad pebbletech product likely from Mexico and presented this as though it was the agreed upon Stonescapes product we had met to select at NPT tile and which had been installed at the job site he sent me to for reference, acting as though he had done this work and would install the same product for me. In hindsight it was never his actual work. He then did a bait and switch and installed a terrible product, which will not last and was very poorly done, turning out very dark teal rather than "sky blue" as we had discussed with his installer. He refused to put me in touch with his pebble installer both before the work so I could ask pertinent questions and after, even weeks after when he acknowledged not putting in the agreed upon product. He refused to produce an invoice at any point before or after the work was completed and never showed me the product he installed prior to or afterwards. He pressured me into bringing a cashier's check to pay for the work immediately after it was installed, before any acid wash and water was put in. I expressed I was not comfortable paying this in full and he insisted it had to be done to stick with the timeline, and acted as though he was paying for the acid wash which is a lie, this is just part of pebbletech installations. He constantly acted as though he was doing "free work" yet would pressure me for payment constantly. When the work turned out dark teal, dark like the black pebble and midnight colors, not at all light like Stonescapes French Grey which it was supposed to be, he offered to fix it at cost to me, only for materials. He then had me empty the pool and his guys showed up to redo the pebble in the right product and then left because he was unreachable by phone. He changed his phone number and was only reachable through WhatsApp. The work was never done and I had to incur the cost of completely filling the pool again and start up chemical costs all over again, which costs about $1250. He then said they would only redo the pebble at full expense to me, another 10K. Fernando lacks all transparency on when work will be done, lies about the scope of work he will do, takes no accountability, insists on taking full payment for work - both labor and materials - before doing it, constantly pressures you to pay him. I had to go to the bank in the middle of work repeatedly, or show up to various supply stores such as NPT, landscaping stores like site one and purchase materials early mornings interrupting my work day. It is very unprofessional the way he has you running about town to purchase his supplies which always require payments in person. I also had to research my own drains and said he would install what I preferred, yet purchased some garbage plastic channel drains and threw them in the middle of the patio and now you can't even place any furniture in or around the deck. He took full payment for work not done as he presented it. He never hooked up my auto fill, cleaned up after himself, or completed numerous other parts of the deck. He did not bother to account for cost of materials selected in advance of the bid and contract and acted like he was doing free work yet overcharged me at every turn. He charged me in full for a spa light installation which was supposed to be full size and matching the color of the pool light I also paid him to install, yet it is only a tiny bench light and a completely different color and he would not fix this. The unprofessionalism ranges from taking my deposit and calling weeks later, which is months before the work would begin, to ask for more money toward the deposit to "fix his truck" when "stuck in mexico" which I had to refuse twice. He asked repeatedly to stay at the property which was a short term rental, before the job started, AND during the work - to have the workers stay there! When I declined this ridiculous and intrusive request, he then stayed at the property one night, trespassing. He had accessed the garage only once for 5 minutes to plug in an extension cord and no other access permitted, yet had the screen door and garage door unlocked and stayed inside the home overnight. He left my backyard a complete hazard zone with garbage and equipment everywhere for 3 weeks after it was supposedly completed and never returned. My side yard with new fake turf was a dumping zone, destroying it. His work cost me 58K, destroyed my backyard, doing fraudulent work and making a dozen costly mistakes, not fixing any of it. He should be sued and also prosecuted for the illegal behavior. It will now cost me another 60K+ to get it all redone right.

The prices were pretty…read morecomparable for what we were after (a relatively standard pool with a hot tub - nothing massively fancy), and Dream Pools was a hair more expensive - maybe $1,000 or so. However, the other company's main pitch was "we're the biggest pool company in town so that's why you should choose us - how do you know if the other guys will still be in business in 10 years?" First, Walmart is the biggest retailer, but that doesn't mean that it's the best. Second, Toys R Us could have said the same thing 10 years ago, and look where they are now. Third, I don't recall that the other guys offered a 10 year warranty anyway, so what does it matter. Dream Pools, on the other hand gave me a feeling that they'd offer a more personal service, which when you are spending a lot of money on a major project offers quite a bit of peace of mind. In addition, they committed to it being finished in six weeks, which when you have three kids on summer vacation and you don't start until early June, is a big benefit. Throughout the process, Carlos and Sylvia (the company owners) came out 2-3 times each week to check in on things. He offered helpful suggestions, and also worked with us on things that we wanted. His crew was polite, efficient and tidy. Because we wanted to do a few other things as well (new fence, paving around the pool, new sod), I simply went through Carlos to get these done. Any savings that I could have made by finding my own contractors (and these guys were still surprisingly affordable) was offset by not having to deal with them individually to schedule things - Carlos did all that for us. The work was of the highest craftsmanship and quality. The team broke ground on June 7 and I was in the pool on July 17. The pool and the entire garden looks beyond what I could have hoped for. I can't recommend Dream Pools highly enough.

We gravitated towards Carlos and Sylvia, most in part due to their warm and kind demeanor. Immediately, I was quick to notice their eagerness to listen; to our ideas, concerns, hesitancies, and in turn were clear and concise in answering everything with confidence and honesty. From our first meeting, we knew we could trust that we were in good and experienced hands. Dreams Pools and Landscapes were cooperative and transparent throughout our pool building process. They were able to take our ideas and present a number of potential models which hovered around our budget. They were so proactive in making sure the project was on schedule and on budget, making regular visits and being extremely accessible if we had any questions or concerns. They were easy to work with, from making sure our pool gained HOA approval, to presenting different add-ons, to working with our landscaper to make sure our backyard projects were symbiotic to one another, it was an immense pleasure which I wish upon any potential pool buyer. They worked hard making sure we didn't have any burdens along the way. Carlos and Sylvia's team were amazing and though the process has since reached completion, we still have a line of communication with should we have any questions. The process, start to finish, couldn't have been any more easier. I would rehire them in a heartbeat. Do yourself a favor and contact them when planning your future dream pool.
