After only 5 months as a customer Pepper Street Self Storage raised my rent by over $100/month. I…read morethought it was a mistake. One employee told me they would "see what they can do" and then I received a call from someone else who told me this is due to "unprecedented demand". I moved to this unit because I have family nearby that has had a unit there for years and it's close to their home. Only my account received this increase but neither of us will remain as customers. Rate increases happen and are understandable, but one would hope within reason. Moving storage units is a lot of work, and a lot of time, so I want to share this experience with anyone evaluating this place or any other Prime Storage location. Consider an alternative if you don't like surprises. UPDATE - I posted the same review on Google and they responded to call them. Below is what happened next. Following the response to call back so they could "rectify the situation" I called and listened to hold music and got a call center employee who said someone from the facility would call back.  A person from the facility called back and had no idea what I was talking about and said someone "higher up" would call me back.   That "higher up" person called me back to say he spoke with his boss and they would reduce the increase by 50% (lucky me), still resulting in an approximately $50-55/month increase after 5 months. There was no way to do anything about a rate increase initially but miraculously an online review elicits the ability to do something, which is still an outrageous rate increase after only 5 months.  Sad that it should take informing other consumers online to get a company to even consider an action in the right direction. I will end my relationship with this company as soon as possible. 7 years at my previous storage facility and the entire time went without incident. I wish I had stayed there. If business practices like this from Prime Storage / Pepper Street Storage Self Storage are not what you're looking for, again, consider an alternative.

Call these guys. Seriously…read more I admit I was hesitant to use them because I hadn't heard of them, but I am sure glad I did use them. Moving is such a ridiculously stressful pain in the...ah...neck, but after my first phone call with Tom Gleason, I knew I chose the right company. I was all over the place with the dates I needed for drop off, for moving... but Tom worked with me and even threw in some humor that helped me maintain sanity throughout the process. He didn't run from my craziness, he accommodated my craziness. I'd like to think he may have actually even liked my craziness. Maybe that's too presumptuous of me. Anyway, we need more Toms around. The 20' unit we rented was perfect. The driveway drop off locations were perfect. I spoke with 2 of the drivers on the phone and met one for the final pickup just now (at 7:15am. Nice! When Tom says he'll have it picked up first thing ... he ain't kiddin!). Everyone I spoke with or met is super nice & friendly. Makes a difference when you're having to deal with all the stresses of moving. Oh. The pod itself! Probably shouldn't leave that out of the review. The pod was great too. Tons of rain (I'm talkin torrential downpours) while we had it and not a drop inside the thing. Use this company. Excellent customer service, great product & reasonable prices. A trifecta. Or a hat trick - if you're into hockey. ;)

Tom was amazing and had one delivered to me the same day being last minute decision. I really like the idea of having the storage bins on my yard.. prices are awesome. Customer service is great. They have 12, 16 & 20 ft storage units.. we really appreciated the last minute delivery. Thank you Tom.

After hiring a moving company a couple years before, I knew what I liked and did not like. I had…read morerequested a quote from Collegian when I last moved in 2016. However, I went with another company, that quoted me a flat hourly rate. I thought a 3-man move would be quick and efficient, at only $150/hour, guess-timating about $500. However, those movers were not, in fact, efficient (mainly due to back-office/poor dispatching issues, since it was the end of the day). With Collegian, I dialed the phone number and reached a person. I didn't get re-routed to a local office. I spoke with an actual, local employee. I told him about the size of the job and what items I needed to move. I requested an early move time, which they put in my request. I immediately received an email confirmation with a link to my account details on the website. A couple days before the move, they confirmed via email, acknowledging my morning move-in request would be granted. I was given an arrival window of 8-10:30 am. At 8:30 am, I received a call that the crew was on its way. They added another man (from a two to three-man crew), which increased the price an extra $25/hour. I figured that the move would have gotten completed faster. By 9:15, the crew arrived and got started. It wasn't a huge move, just furniture. It took an hour to get everything in the truck and wrapped up. Once they got to the new location, it only took an hour to unload the truck and move everything in. Nothing was damaged. The crew (led by Rick) was professional, respectful, and efficient with their time. By 11:45, we were completing the paperwork to close out the job. The only snag was the final tally of the job cost. I was quoted around $4-500, but was billed for $750. It seemed high, so I double checked it and called the office the following Monday. George acknowledged the error and agreed to get me in touch with the bookkeeper. Erin, the accountant, got back to me with an invoice stating the amount I overpaid and promised to send a check to reimburse me for the over payment. THIS is how you run a business and merit a 5-star review; meeting expectations and correcting discrepancies in a timely fashion. Thank you, Collegian. I will turn to you first the next time I have to move (hopefully not anytime soon). **I previously reviewed All My Sons for a 2016 move. Check that out for comparison.

This was and continues to an unhappy experience. The estimator was great, getting the dates set…read moreeasy, but when it can time to packing, loading and unloading, the whole process fell apart. They did not show up for the first day of packing, and we did not get the call that they weren't showing up until we call them about the no show. We were that a larger packing crew was coming the next day. That crew couldn't get through everything and were told that all we needed was another have day, then the load. But the spent the entire second day packing. If I went into any of the bedrooms, the same young woman would pop up in my face and ask what I needed; I finally reminded her it was still our house and if I needed her, I would find her. They packed boxes marked "owner will carry" and "do not pack". When the truck left, we thought we had put the worst behind us, but this was just the warm up. This driver did not call ahead for help from another United crew, the people who packed us loaded and unloaded the truck. While they managed to get the major pieces in the right rooms, over half the boxes ended in up 1) on the wrong floor in the wrong room, right floor wrong room, or in the basement. The boxes in the basement had especially heavy, and their descriptions pointed toward the walls, so two months in, we still can't find boxes that had important items in them. Important and valuable ephemera ended up, we think, in the basement. Boxes that were marked "books" contained anything but books. Beds were not set up as they should have been. As we unboxed we found things improperly packed. An antique hood for a 18th century tall clock was tossed in the van without being packed and boxed. They did manage to get a very large piece of furniture with sentimental value up to our third floor, but they did not reassemble the piece as they were supposed to. We have moved interstate before, so this wasn't our first time. United has relocated us before and it was a breeze. But they did not complete the job of unloading properly, they did not reassemble the furniture that they were supposed to, and they were unstaffed. And months after the move, we are still trying to untangle the mess they created. We are frustrated and frankly unhappy.
