We only had 30 days to plan our local move, and for two of those weeks we were out of town. Thankfully, I discovered UniMovers in the middle of it all. Flat rate, just the labor, no hidden costs. After a short discussion with Matthew via text, we got our appointment all set up. I picked up the U Haul Wednesday evening so we could load some smaller stuff in ourselves that night, and then right at 1pm we got the call that they were downstairs at the truck. Tyler and Matt were SO incredibly calm-natured, listened well, and made sure to pick up on and facilitate our concern about making sure our king mattress wasn't dragged on the floors. They got our whole two-story condo loaded into the truck in about 75 minutes, made the 10 minute drive to our new place, and then got it all unloaded and put into place in record time, just under the 2-hour mark. Incredible! It gave me time to ask where they are going to college, what their majors are, and to encourage them a bit before they headed off. I called to genuinely inquire about their moving services since I am moving into a new home very soon. However, I am obviously looking for the best rate in different businesses since I do care about my time and money. Therefore, as soon as I call and let the representative know what I am inquiring about, I go straight to the point and ask if they charge hourly. To which the male representative responds yes. I then ask how much is the hourly rate. The male representative declines to answer and asks first about the details of my moving (location, number of people needed to move, etc.). Since I did not want to go into the details before knowing the hourly price so I don't waste anyone's time, I asked again what the hourly rate is. The Asian male representative immediately got defensive and said that I am just another competitor asking about pricing and that I can get it in the website. I then got upset because I was being disrespected for absolutely no reason. Even if I was a competitor, that is not how you treat people when you are confident about your services and business. I then asked for a manager a then got hung up on. I called again, asked for a manager, and got hung up on again. BEWARE of this business at ALL COSTS. It seems like they customize their pricing depending on how they feel about you since they are not transparent about it straight up. All the other business that I have called straight up tell me that they charge by hour or distance, are straight up about their pricing and are also CLEAR of the different things that can change pricing. Such as distance, location and amount of of workers needed for the move. As a person who has worked for a long time in customer service, when a customer also requests a manager, you immediately get the manager. All of the addresses are also a scam.

I was quoted about two hours for two men to move my fully packed and ready to go one-bedroom apartment just one building over. Instead of using the truck, the movers walked everything over one item at a time, making the move take far longer than it should have. They actually sent three movers, but I only consistently saw two working. The pricing is nowhere near as transparent as the quote makes it seem. I was NEVER clearly told that the 15% fuel surcharge applies to both labor and travel time, even when the truck isn't being used. Chris, their customer service rep defended the "expert" process, offered a $100 credit, and called it a day. A move I expected to cost around $500-$600 ended up costing $910. TERRIBLE customer service, and I won't be using them again.
