Just want you to see who these ppl are - they don't even lay a pay day happen before they charge a late fee and you can see from previous post they will add a lien fee if $110 ASAP TOO. This is Christmas week. - who works this week is beyond me. I don't get paid til Monday but you can bet your bottom dollar they make sure to charge the late fee the day before i get paid - mind you they aren't even in the office today. In March my storage unit went up by 20%. This was to be my 3rd move at this Cube Smart in order to get a reduction of monthly costs. As I get older it is harder for me to move my stuff. I live in NYC and must rent a car, and pay for gas and tolls to get to this facility. It started about 8+ years ago. A friend kept his stuff here and said it was more affordable than NYC locations. Yet again, management has given me the option of moving my stuff to another unit for an almost $100 reduction per month, which is less than I paid before the March increase. 1 or 2 year contracts are not available so the rent can go up every 6-12 months. No awards are given to long time renters but when renting a new unit there are specials. read more

The new General Manager is pleasant and professional. It was a needed change. Good service and a clean facility. However, beware of the price they charge. It's constantly changing. The online rate is different from the walk in rate and once you sign the month to month lease the price stays. The online rate was 50% off but since I rented as a walk in they did not inform me a lower rate was available. After 2 months the rate on my unit dropped about $90 but I stuck at the higher rate. Admittedly spending money monthly on a storage unit was not on my list of things I wanted to do, but it became a bit of a necessity with a kid coming back from college with a boyfriend combined with an home addition. I researched storage facilities and decided on this CubeSmart. It was a very good choice! Ray Baum was very helpful especially when we realized after moving 95% of our items that a 5 x 15 was just too small and that we needed to upgrade to a 10 x 10. Very helpful office and nice people (Ashley was also really helpful but has since relocated to a different office), which is always a plus! read more

Stay away from this location and possibly from the whole company. They are nice, when it's time to take your money and sign you on. But after that, they give you all the execuses and attitude to not satisfy your needs. It is one of the worst customer service out there. Plus, they don't even clean the area and don't offer trash dump. I could've given them no star, but that was not an option! Avoid at all costs!! Bait and Switch Operation!! Just like Ella D. experienced as her review points out, after signing up for a fee of 230 a month we received notice without explanation that our monthly fee was being increased to 261 after only 2 or 3 months on site. We felt cheated. The site provides NO collateral services associated with a storage facility such as garbage dumpsters and recycling bins on site. There are no recycling centers available off site to non NJ residents. Municipality Recycling centers are for NJ residents only who must provide ID in order to enter. So, if you are an out of state resident storing property here, there is no recycling bin on site to place your used, broken down boxes or throw out your garbage upon entering or vacating. We have stored property in Seattle, San Diego and Detroit and EVERYONE of the facilities we used provided recycling bins and garbage dumpsters at cheaper prices. For the price charged such services should be standard. There is no bathroom access while the office is closed. So, if you are using the storage locker before the office opens or after it closes there is NO Bathroom access. Management provides no key to the customer for their convenience upon signing up. The bathroom itself was not clean, in fact, we would say it was "disgusting" and ill-maintained. Also, without permission or adequate notice, management switched out the locks on our storage locker. So, the next time we went to it, after the switch, we were shocked to find a different lock on the unit door which required a different key than the one we had. Of course, the new key could only be obtained from management during office hours. We got to our unit in the early morning, hours before the office was to open, so our plans for the day were ruined. Being from out of state, this caused an enormous inconvenience. Our storage door stuck and was difficult to open, requiring you to step down hard on the handle before finding the sweet spot for the slide. In addition, despite sending them e-mail notice to vacate before the next months bill came due and despite receiving an acknowledgement of receipt of said notice by e-mail response from management, they sent us an e-mail after we vacated stating our bill was past due and informing us our locker was "unsecured". Do not use this company, there are plenty of other options with quality service and customer care. read more

The gentlemen in the front office made my experience quick, pleasant, and overall enjoyable and even provided me with some laughs. DO NOT GO HERE! This is a review of the EAST HANOVER, NJ facility. Terrible experience. First, they did the "bait and switch" on the price. They advertise one price, but then the price goes up A LOT as soon as you have your stuff in there. Second, the place always smells moldy, so there is definitely a water problem. Third, the people in the office GO OUT OF THEIR WAY to NOT help you. They charge you if you want to make a payment by credit card over the phone; and then they charge you if your payment arrives late. No consideration whatsoever. When they raised my rate, I sent in payment at the old rate, and they threatened to charge me late fees because the payment was short; never mind that the rate had just gone up and they had received my payment on time. That was what caused me to look for a new place. I was in a unit at CubeSmart for over a year ($320 per month, over $3,600 all in), and then I found a place for $120 a month for the same size. When I moved out, I had a small box full of garbage (broken boxes, stuff I swept up, nothing major). My truck was full and I couldn't fit this one last box . . . and the manager there REFUSED to let me throw it in his trash. HE WAS INCREDIBLY RUDE AND UNHELPFUL. I explained that I didn't have the room. He told me to drive the truck to the new storage unit, unload it, and then come back for this small box of garbage. He wanted me to drive 30 miles each way to throw out a box of garbage? Ridiculous, crappy, awful customer service. After I had been a good paying customer for over a year! When i expressed my displeasure, he started saying, "Have a Blessed Day." He said it over and over again. SO CREEPY AND FAKE. I HATE THIS PLACE. DO NOT EVER GO HERE. read more

I booked a locker CubeSmart specifically told me over the phone was available. Days later they call me back and say: Whoops! It isn't. They'd already given me a move-in date. So, keep in mind that when you book a storage unit here, it may or may not actually exist. You won't know which until later. read more
