Whole fish with yuca
Brianna M.

My boyfriend and I stopped here on a recommendation of a friend of ours and to be quite honest, the food was subpar. The Yuca wasn't as soft as it should've been and a bit dry. The chorizo that came with it was so coated in oil that it felt I was just eating oil so I only had one piece of it. I ordered the whole fish, it was ok. It wasn't seasoned at all and the rice was over cooked. My bf got the swordfish and he said it was ok, pretty underwhelming. Their drinks were ok, I got a few mojitos that tasted more like juice than anything, and my bf got beers. The service was good, they checked on us often, but the food was just very underwhelming. Wouldn't return IMO.

This place is right downstairs from my hotel so I decided to try it out. My partner in crime aka my travel buddy is in bed sick today so I'm dining by my lonesome self. FYI I know zero French fml but the menu is in Spanish so that I understand thankfully! It's a cute little restaurant that looks more like a pub. It has Cuban paintings on the wall, Spanish music playing, dim lighting, dark coloured decor, full bar with lots of bottles displayed, and the menu is in both Spanish and French. I got the shrimp which came with rice, plantain, and salad. The rice was too little of a portion compared to the portion of the stewed shrimp. As for taste, it was okay-- definitely not authentically Cuban tasting but it wasn't bad, plantain was fried to perfection, rice and salad were good, and the side of bread was also good (which I used to eat with the leftover stew once the rice was done). Service was also good. My waitress could tell I didn't speak French so she made her best effort to speak English and/or Spanish LOL. My food arrived probably around 15 minutes after ordering and it came piping hot which I always appreciate as you can generally tell it's freshly cooked that way. I actually really liked the atmosphere here--very relaxing, comfortable chairs, not loud, and good music--so instead of going back up to my hotel room (as I can't travel alone because I'll probably get lost not speaking French), I decided to stick around and drink a Cubana Chantilly My niece aka partner in crime aka travel buddy came two hours later (yes, I've been here a while), got the pollo asado which she said was really good. She didn't think her food tasted authentically Cuban but nonetheless was tasty. I would actually give this place a 3.5 but since that's not an option on Yelp (pls address this!), I decided to go with three stars. This definitely wasn't four star food but I liked my waitress, and like I said, the atmosphere was great. How'd it taste? Actually really good! The problem? It was all whipped cream and almost no cafe. If I'm paying €4,50 for a cafe I'd like there to be some cafe in there, just sayin'.... I also got some mojitos which didn't taste like mojitos--I noticed in Europe, my experiences at least, they don't use any sugar water or any sweeter in their mojitos--but I like whatever it was as an alcoholic drink nonetheless. Would I come here again? Probably. But more for the drinks more than the food.

No Yelp sticker!

3.5 stars They are trying, but don't totally hit the mark. The menu and drink list have some traditional Cuban specialties like black beans and plantains. But, like most "ethnic" restaurants in France, everything gets frenchified. At many other places, it's clear that they actually have no idea what real food from the respective culture is like, so you somewhat expect the food to be bad. But here it's particularly disappointing because they clearly know what Cuban food/drink should be like and have opted for the path of least resistance. That said, the food and drink we got was more than passable. The vibe is relaxed, though I imagine that it could get crowded with university students on the weekends. I'd go back if I were in the neighborhood and was looking for a decent cocktail. But, given the neighborhood, I'd probably look for a nice wine bar instead.

Excellent place for drinks, friendly people and a half decent humidor. The Mojito and Cuban Rum were excellent!

Location is good. Food was ok. Service is the worse, no one care to ask if we needed anything. They just serve your food and keep moving.

Pollo Asada, Sol Cerveza and, of course in Paris no meal would be complete without a baguette!

A Lovely Late Lunch in Paris! Came here for the first time…read morewith friends for a late lunch after exploring the town in search of the famous "I LOVE YOU" wall. We didn't have reservations, but the restaurant was able to accommodate our party of five with only a short wait. What a pleasant surprise! Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and helpful. She also took the time to guide me toward gluten-free options, which I really appreciated! We started with the escargot appetizer, and wow--it was packed with flavor and surprisingly delicious! Of course, there was a little learning curve figuring out how to get the snails out of their shells, but that just made the experience even more fun! Two of us ordered the fish special, which came with soft, creamy mashed potatoes seasoned with olive oil and herbs. Both the fish and potatoes were delicious, and the fish was cooked to perfection! One friend ordered the avocado toast with salmon and said she enjoyed it. The other dishes at our table were the Croque Madame and the coquillettes with white ham, Parmesan cream, and truffle flavor. Overall, we had a lovely lunch with friendly service, delicious food, and a relaxed atmosphere. It was a great spot to recharge after exploring Paris with friends. Definitely worth considering if you're in the area!

Like Yelpers before me have noted, this is a traditional Irish pub with lots of Anglo-speakers for…read morethose who feel more comfortable conversing in this language. The space is quite tight but it makes for a fun time with all the people merrily eating, drinking, laughing, talking (or even arguing about controversial topics), and watching sports matches (during my time here, our group watched with some interest a rugby game). I didn't eat anything here nor did I drink anything other than water but I was in the company of others who drank beer and whiskey. While I don't know much about these, the people with me have extensive experience in drinking their preferred poisons and everyone was extremely pleased with the selection and prices. As some of you know, AT is an avid whiskey/whisky enjoyer and he found the choices to be fairly impressive--enough so to try two different types. Regarding food, it seems that things may have changed because I found the food menu to be quite large, including bar/pub usual suspects (burgers, steak and fries, brownies, etc.). Many groups were there eating full meals, so don't worry about not being able to get stuff to soak up some of that alcohol that you'll be throwing back. I was tempted because I saw the names scrawled on a blackboard as I walked from the front door to the back area, but I didn't end up ordering coffee drinks. This could be an option for those who don't share in the love of booze but want to still come hang out. Friendly service by the two people serving our party, one guy running like mad between all the tables in the back section and a female bartender. Fast delivery of whatever you order, which is nice. Compared to some other pubs that I have tried, this place may not quite compare but I give it an additional star for being entirely smoke-free! Yes, this was an amazing discovery for me, because it seems that while Parisian restaurants do not permit smoking indoors, they usually have a patio area where people are puffing 2 packs per minute. On top of that, the front doors are usually left open, to allow the free movement of servers running back and forth from the kitchen and the outside. This means that you may as well sit with the smokers, because all of the smoke and smell waft inside. With my asthma, this made for some slightly unpleasant dining experiences. Rest assured that you will not encounter any cigarette smell or effect from frequenting O'Brien's, which makes it awesome in my book.
