The classic Cuban sandwich was the best sandwich I have ever eaten. The leftovers of it were also amazing.

I went to Cuban Cafe excited to try their coffee and pastries. When we arrived it was closed even though Yelp hours said it would be open. They also had their hours posted in the front. This was very misleading and pushed the rest of our trip plans back unfortunately as we had to drive there. Just be aware when making plans. Perhaps call ahead and ask if they're open. read more

My first Cafe Cubano, presented very beautifully. The lady who helped me was very sweet and happy to show the process of whipping up the espresso with sugar. Unfortunately, it turns out there is nothing on the menu for vegetarians. I ordered a Spinach Empanada to go for $8 - the good news is that it was 2 very large Empanadas that looked pretty good, the bad news is that it was filled with meat. We went on a Sunday morning just to try the coffee & were pleasantly surprised. The cafe was clean and quiet with terrific and quick service. A couple of us tried the cafe Cubano, while one of our party tried a cappuccino & another had a mocha. Everyone was very happy with their coffee. We also tried their guava empanada & this would be worth going back just for that! We were enjoying ourselves so much, that I forgot to take any pictures (sorry). With the various choices for coffee in Salem as well as pastries, this wouldn't necessarily be our first choice, but it was definitely still worth trying! read more

Yummmmm!! I got the sandwich Cubano and it was absolutely delicious. I've driven past many times and always wanted to stop. The sidewalk is under construction right now, but they are still open (they have a back entrance). It was a beautiful restaurant and the service was very good. read more

The woman who served us was super nice. We ordered a hot chai (which is a dirty chai with espresso shots although the menu doesn't say that) and a hot nutella coffee and both were delicious. The nutella coffee has the perfect amount of strong espresso and nutella flavor. We also tried the guava empanada! The dough was perfect and sweet. The filling tastes exactly like guava so it may not be as sweet as some Americans are used to but I don't want that to deter you. Lovely little authentic place! read more

For the past several months the main entrance to this cute little café was blocked by construction I was determined to find my way in and there is of course the back entrance off the alley. Now the construction stuff is gone and you can go in the main entrance as well. I was glad I found my way in because it was really a pleasant surprise. Excellent Cuban sandwich and very good espresso. The lady who runs the place is very very kind and accommodating and the combination of good food and her obvious enthusiasm to have customers coming through the door of course make you want to return again and again. The worst service. The owner/lady was completely rude and disrespectful. I ordered a empanada and she might of set it on a printed paper but I noticed writing on the bottom of it while I was eating. I requested a new one and she said she didn't know how that got there either so she wouldn't bring one out. I was using the salsa on the table and she came by grabbed it as soon as I put it down. I was assuming she was going top it off maybe But instead, she put it in the fridge like I was using too much. She also grabbed my water mid eating and put it in the sink and started cleaning around me. I asked for my water back and she said she already put her finger inside. Had lunch with 2 friends. Cubano sandwich and empanada were delicious. Pineapple drink that was carbonated was good. The sandwich was so large we each took half home with use. The server was helpful and attentive. When told we were celebrating a birthday, she brought each of us a large piece of flan cake that was moist and tasty. Was excited to see the cafe had opened as I grew up in Miami and wanted some Cuban food. I walked in and immediately saw the large empanadas and had to have one. The menu for food was fairly small so hoping they add some more classics! I was also surprised at how far down they list Cuban coffee on the drink menu, but knew I had to get one. The barista/server was very sweet and thorough with our order. The chicken empanada has good flavor but the crust wasn't what I remembered. The Cuban coffee, or really a cafecita, was also really good. My friend ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was huge and delicious, and came with a side of dill potato chips. The cafe itself is small but is comfortable and clean. I'm hoping that Cuban Cafe will continue to grow and offer more traditional favorites in the future. read more

Took one look at the menu and this is not Cuban at all. My family is Cuban from Havana and my husband's family is from Cruces and we are upset that the only actual Cuban dish is the Ropa Vieja with white rice and black beans. To the review person who says they grew up in Miami is a lie as the menu itself and the empanada is an offense to the culture. If you are going to claim that this is Cuban than offer the dishes that we make. If you want a true Cuban experience, you are better off going to Hialeah, FL where you will get the best Cuban food and pastries and the batidos are to die for. Even Latin Cafe makes better meals and has more authenticity. read more
