This little spot is super great. I haven't had one bad item from them. They are located on the first floor of the Fairwinds building in Downtown Orlando. They are a little "hidden" gem - if you will. Since it is in a building with numerous other businesses, it does get a decent amount of foot traffic from those that work in the building as well as others. So, lunch rush hours can get a bit busy. However, they are still pretty quick with fulfilling orders. The overall cafe isn't anything super cute as far as decor goes. However, they have a small seating nook in the back as well as ample seating just outside of the cafe if you'd like a bit more space dine-in as well as work (if you so choose). Outside of the food, where they also reign supreme is their service. As mentioned earlier, they are QUICK and their quickness doesn't affect the quality of the food in any way. The food is STILL amazing but you get it in lightening speed. I'll order from them for breakfast or lunch and my wait is usually no more than 10 minutes at MAX. However, my order is usually ready even prior to that at times pending what I've ordered. The staff are amazing and very, very kind. They are also very accommodating of any of your dietary needs. They offer other little light bites and pricing points are really good. Again, the food is GOOD. I don't know how else to put it. I haven't had anything I didn't like here. So, give them a visit. We're visiting from out of state and this is our first time in Florida. We decided it was a good idea to try Cuban food while in the area. I have a dairy allergy and the staff was so accommodating! She reassured me that they would clean the sandwich press which I appreciated. We got the regular Cuban sandwich and I got a cup of black bean soup and both were so good! Delicious food! Very reasonably priced! I ordered through grub hub and it was ready quickly! I got frejoles necrosis and ultimate Cuban sandwich for around $20! The reason for a reduction of a star is that I ordered a large frijoles negros (black bean soup) that was supposed to come with white rice and there was no white rice in my order. The salad was pitifully small. Had to add salt to beans and chicken and I HARDLY EVER add salt to food. The only thing that tasted like it "should" were the plantains. I won't be back. Hidden Gem! If you are not a local, this place can be hard to find. It's in the Fairwinds Credit Union building and there are no signs on the street. Small, quaint Pro-Cuban place with tables for eating in (or you can take away). I had the roasted pork with black beans, rice and plantains. The pork was ohhh so juicy and the plantains were delicious! Eclectic little spot right off Ponce De Leon Blvd, so little we almost missed it. After finding some parking we walked up to what looked like an old bookshop to me. The smell inside was nothing short of amazing!! I got the Game 7 and it was to die for! It has chicken, some onions, Prosciutto, cheese, and the most yummy sauce! I even got some extra sauce on the side to dip my plantain chips in. They also do specialty coffees, espressos, etc. I sat outside which had a beach feel to it, paradise. Check this place out! I absolutely love this restaurant. Not only is the food consistently awesome the staff treats me as if I'm family and that is always a welcoming feeling when you visit them. The pork will melt in your mouth and even though they hate to, they cook my plaintains to death. (Just the way I like them) I do wish they would bring back the red beans on Thursdays but hey! a girl can't have everything. :-) Make sure you make it in to enjoy these folks great food. I love the food here. The Cuban sandwiches and the Pico de Gallo are great. And they offer food not easily found downtown. My problem with them, and the only reason they don't get 5 stars, is that I can't get waited on! Several weeks ago I went in, only one person ahead of me. But she was a very pretty young lady and the gentleman working the orders and cash register spent over 10 minutes talking to her. I finally left. Today I went in and there was no one waiting at the counter; just one person eating at a table. I waited 5 minutes. One of the cooks waved to me twice. The same gentleman was at the end of the counter reading something. I coughed twice. So I left again. I am sad to say I will not be back. The food is so very good. If they could get a little service to go with the food, they would have something special. I'm not saying don't eat here. Just saying don't be surprised if you don't get waited on. The most disappointing chicken empanada I've ever had. At first glance, I was really excited because it was quite big and appeared to be stuffed full. When I bit into it, it was almost hollow.... The nicest and most efficient quick lunch and delicious Cuban food. The owner is always present and assists with the food prep. She is super duper. Best time is to avoid the crowds and lines...off hours...usually 30min before or after the lunch crowd. I overly enjoy finding new restaurants, especially when they exceed my expectations! I was told by a friend of mine that I had to check out the hidden Cuban cafe in the Fairwinds building downtown. He said go in, all the way down the hall, make a right, then a left past the mailboxes... Well obviously you can see why I was interested. It was like a map to buried treasure and that is just what I found. This cafe is legit. Cuban food, extremely friendly staff and served quick! I went with coworkers on our treasure hunt. Easy to find, you just had to follow your nose as soon as you entered the building. My nose did not disappoint. This is a small little cafe with a lot of energy. The woman up front (I'm fairly certain she was the owner) was beyond sweet and took the time to give us her list of specials and elaborate on the various sandwich options on the menu board. I had one of the specials, bistec palomillo (flank steak and cooked onions), it came with a side of rice, beans and sweet plantains. One coworker had the same and the other tried the other special, ropa vieja (beef, potatoes, peppers, etc). All three of us could not be more delighted to have found a new favorite lunch spot.
