It's just Cub. Specifically this Cub I've had some problems with people (other patrons) bothering me and trying to get my attention when I am trying to get in and out and not be chatty. Once a man approached me in the parking lot as I was loading my groceries into my car alone and ran away when I got in my car. That made me feel extremely unsafe and I ended up calling the location to report the incident. Ever since, I have been extremely intentional about not looking friendly (which is hard for me, have you met me) and minding my business just to be able to grocery shop and feel safe. The manager was actually really kind to me and I typically have no problems with the staff. It's the other patrons that I'm very aware of. That said, I have had a couple times where I expect a price to be lower on a product (according to the posted prices) and point it out to the employees, who then kind of give me an attitude about it. Generally the prices aren't something to write home about, but in 2023 almost all groceries are spendy AF. It's not a fancy grocery store but does have a hot food bar, food court to eat, bakery, floral, sushi, deli, and pharmacy. I come here if I need to find a specific ingredient that I don't think ALDI would have, or if I want donuts, or if I want to be in and out quickly. I am typically pretty wary of coming to this location if it's dark outside. read more

Second time here in 15 months: nicely decorated, larger than other Cubs. Well decorated, probably for pride month (see pictures). Large collection of food items. Clean. Busy place. Fresh bakery and ready to go food. Plenty of parking. Staff very sharp and ready to jump in to save you from self check machines. read more

After attempting to make a purchase at the West End Cub Foods, but the employee just walked away to go talk to his "bros" so I left to never return again. Well, today I went to the Knollwood Cub Foods and the customer service person (cindy) yelled at me. I guess the previous three customers were a bit challenging. (buying money orders to pay their rent ... it was the 3rd of the month ... I guess YOU were paying their rent) So, it was funny. I said you can yell at me all that you want. What a friendly staff and great location. This is a typical grocery store so there's not much of a review to leave. It has everything like all the others do. You do need to bag your own groceries when you check out but I'm not sure if that's something typical since I recently moved her from another state. This is our home Cub Foods as this is the closest to our place and we have been frequenting here for more than 4 years now. They have a great maintenance of the place and have never seen rotten or empty produce at any point of time. They have a friendly staff who aid you any time you are stuck somewhere. The store has a nice floor planning as one place leads to another sequentially. We get our supply of 5 gallon drinking water from this location week on week. The reverse osmosis setup is fantastic and we have never had complaints with the water. The checkout wait time is so high during peak hours during the weekends that you will feel like being at the checkout forever. Make sure you make great use of the Cub Rewards program that you can make use at the Holiday gas stations as well. This is truly a Minnesota born and raised! read more

It's a long story, but I have been on a donut kick lately. My favorites are white frosted cake (with sprinkles), fried cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting, and chocolate cake (glazed or chocolate frosted). Anyway, they were out of the white frosted, but so far, this cub has the best chocolate cake donut in town! It was tender, with only a slight outer crust, and had a beautifully generous smear of chocolate frosting. It was obviously fresh, and it was so moist that I didn't mind that I forgot to buy a drink to go with it. read more

This isn't the nicest Cub in town, but it's very reliable. The West End Cub has a more upscale feel, but the Knollwood area is much easier to navigate than the West End, so we usually wind up here when we need Cub. Pros: Lots of variety. It's hard not to find what you need here. The international foods section is impressive, especially the Mexican selection (as far as I can tell, since I'm not Mexican, but it certainly looks like there's a wide variety of products). They have a large "healthy foods" section and plenty of organic options, and while they don't have the variety of Whole Foods, they also don't have Whole Foods prices. Also, the Kosher/Jewish food selection is excellent. Customer service is good, and they do seem to move customers through checkout quickly when there's a crowd. Parking is usually not a problem. Cons: The produce, meats, and especially the fish aren't the best of quality. I mean, they're not terrible. But you get what you pay for, and you can get fresher, higher quality foods at more upscale grocery stores. There's no meat or fish counter at this Cub, which makes a big difference. And the bakery isn't very exciting. Bonus pro that you might not care about: They play a great 1980s mix! I have to constrain myself from walking down the aisles and singing, since I'm old AF. read more

This cub really does not stand out at all. The layout makes no sense at all. Their meat section is tucked away in a little corner and it isn't even a natural flow to go to. There is not butcher, so unless they have the amount of meat you want, you will have to buy more than you planned on...4 lbs, well they only have 3 lb packages...have fun with that. The store is pretty large and does have a good selection, but the speed of service is pretty slow. Oh you want something from the deli? Plan on waiting for a while. read more

But as we are sick of paying high Byerly's prices when we are purchasing the "preservative" type foods, we decided to check out this Cub. What a lovely surprise! I'd anticipated a packed, dingy overall icky spot and we had a lovely time. And, they are open 24 hours a day!!! I wonder if that includes Thanksgiving since I always seem to need something last minute Turkey Day. Conclusion? This isn't the Cub I grew up with. I'll definitely be back (and can't wait to score some great deals!). read more

We go here every Sunday for our weekly grocery run. I think Cub is like the Swiss army knife of grocery stores. You can get all the food items that you need in one visit. Even their ethnic section is large and always expanding. There is a liquor store attached to some locations too. The produce section, in terms of selection and quality, is better than Rainbow's. There is a decent size natural food section next to the produce department. The donuts here are delicious. During the summer, there is a hot dog/burger shack outside that sells food for various community organizations. This location is near a Super Target, DSW and Knollwood Mall. Great place to shop for basics. If you shop organic and need high quality produce, go to Byerly's or Whole Foods. read more

Between Trader Joes and Costco, my Cub shopping has dropped off a bit in the last few years. I still get in there on a regular basis though and my find today confirms why I still visit. Today I cruised through the meat section and came upon a twin pack of T-bone steaks priced at $4.99 per pound. The steaks looked good, no discoloration, decent sized tenderloin, some marbeling, though not prime, but good. Into the cart they went and we did too. Off to check on the other Cub items we buy, such as yukon fries and cat litter. Grilled the steaks up (yeah-grilling outside in February!!!!) and they were awesome to say the least. Just gave them some S&P a few hours before grill time and sure enough that was some good eating. Three of us ate some dang fine beef in the form of T-bone steaks for a little over $13 and had left over meat. When this Cub has meat bargains, I won't pass it by. read more

This Cub is real close to my work and I enjoy getting lunch from here, especially its salad and hot bar. They offer lots of choices and the overall cost is very reasonable, especially the salad bar. There is one item that they sell in the frozen /deli meat section that nobody seems to sell(including other Cub foods), they sell this big beef jerky packages which is roughly $8 for a 24 oz bag. The only weird thing about this beef jerky is you have to refrigerated it after opening it...What is the point of beef jerky then? read more

I switch off between 3 grocery stores in the area; Cub, Rainbow and SuperT. Each location has something that the others don't, so I have not committed to one store yet. My main complaint with this store is the lay-out. It annoys me that I need to weave through the produce section before I can get to the main area of the store. Most annoying of all is that their frozen foods and dairy is in the middle of the store. It's second nature to shop where you're guided, and I usually start turning down the cheese/dairy aisle after rounding the corner of the deli. I wish they'd install a big stop sign: "Proceed directly to rear wall of the store. Do not pass cheese, do not collect milk or frozen veggies." I hate shopping through their lay-out while the cold food gets warm. So now it's my own personal detour, but I wish I didn't feel like they were tricking me. Also: maybe I happen to go at strange times, but there is always some sort of drama or creepers in this store that I don't see at Knollwood SuperT or WestEnd Rainbow. read more

This is the best Cub in MN. Due to its location in St. Jew Park they got a pretty sizable kosher section. Furthermore, they also have a good organic section. And I do like their deli. Chicken wings are awesome!!! The lady who works at the meat counter is so genuinely happy and willing to help with your brisket and pastrami choices. It is also very clean and stocked well. Im a fan. I consider Cub a moderately priced place to go to get everything on my list. If I'm feeling broke I like to go to Aldi, if I'm needing nonfood items, I like to go to Target. But having not been to Cub for a while, I realize why I will probably still go to Target when I need items even though I will overspend: it is more exciting. Crummy location, bad customer service was on hold for 30 minutes just to let management know i found a better offer . Being a customer the cashiers are by far rude no eye contact , no friendly hello. Its like they are bored out of their minds working their and are too numb to give exceptional customer service . The management is a joke too . Filthy environment , and just over all a poor experience . I will continue to go out of my way to shop else where like uptown or the west end for my groceries because knollwood mall cub is that awful! I appreciate the natural food selection, particularly the aisle of store-brand organics, but the prices here for some items are a dollar or more higher than the SuperTarget a couple blocks away... why? I really only come here if I happen to need TCF bank as well, and even then, just if I need quarters for laundry - I just can't abide the higher grocery bill. I am surprised no one has yelped this store yet. This is by far the best Cub Foods in Minneapolis metro area. The selection is wonderful for a grocery chain. They have several aisles for organic foods. The bakery generates great variety of goods. The produce section is large. Of course, this is not Byerly's, just Cub Foods, so keep that in mind. The only bummer is that it is too packed here on most days and parking can be a bit of a pain. read more

This Cub is my primary grocery store, I visit at least once a week. For being a discount grocer, they have pretty decent selection of anything you could ask for. This store has MUCH better selection than the Rainbow up on 55. However, if you're preparing an exotic meal with hard-to-find ingredients, you might want to cross 169 over to Lund's. But for basic groceries at low prices, this Cub is a very nice place to shop. Lines get a bit long during peak hours, but this is the case at every grocery store in America. Parking isn't a problem, they have a huge lot. The moron factor is high as you get closer to the doors, people walk and drive like idiots at times. So just be careful. Staff is fine, they're friendly and move you through the check-out lane pretty quickly. read more

I popped by Cub to get a few items a couple of nights ago. Usually I just get prepared and packaged items, like canned good or kleenex. But I like to have a little fresh produce around the house, so I got a bunch of their spinach. Biggest mistake I've made in a long while. Now I've got fun fluids coming out of both ends of the intestinal tract and in a very explosive manner. Hopefully this episode won't last more than a day or two as I have a relatively strong constitution, but I can assure you I'll never make the mistake of buying their produce again. I should have known when I looked at the spinach and it didn't appear fresh. That means their supply system has multiple points of failure: 1. The spinach is left on the shelf too long. 2. The supplier isn't properly testing their product. 3. The processing procedure is weak or isn't been followed, leading to easy contamination of the product. And/or 4. The farmer doesn't have a good process and contaminates the product. From my perspective it looks like all of the above. read more

Floor layout is not customer friendly. Forget about an item, usually it's on the opposite side of the store. Narrow isles. Oh, need something's in Pharmacy? Good luck finding it! If you think it should be with the other items on the shelf and it's not there, it's usually in plain sight on the front, or back end of the isle! read more

i cant complain about the selection- seems big, obviously not if you want organic. what i can complain about is the layout- it just doesnt make sense- i hate it when a grocery store forces me to go a direction like im a little mouse in some experiment, in and out of areas i dont care about. why forceably send me first to the fish, meat and chicken, in the cooler section- where i will get stuff before you let me over to the other 90%of your store? my stuff just sits there getting ick. if youre going to maze me around at least put the cold stuff at the end. or dont make me pass it all to get the dry stuff to go back for the fridge stuff and then back to check out by the dry stuff. So I came into my local cub foods to find a side dish for my pork chops. I was searching in the deli area and opted for the classic potato salad thinking "how could someone mess up potato salad??" Well it was absolute garbage. It tastes like it was made last week and they were trying to sell the leftovers. The potato to sauce ratio is absurd and the overall aroma of the dish is stale. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy the potato side dish from their deli. I would venture on to say stay away from all of their side dishes because if it's anything like this potato salad, you'll be thoroughly disappointed. read more

This is the Cub I usually go to d/t the location. I do like this Cub which my friend refers to as Ghetto Cub. They have a pretty good selection of international fare which seems to be better here than other Cubs. Also, Cub has great sales & will take expired coupons up to 3 mos.after the expiration date. This definitely is not fancy by any means which is why it is probably the cheapest chain around. read more

I have had issues with the check out lines at night in the past but tonight took the cake. For no reason they decided to close all the self check out lines and only had 2 cashiers working. I had a massive total of 5 items and had to sit in line for 10-15 minutes behind people who had huge cart fulls. Get to the front of the line and the guy shuts his light off and am told by him and another lady to go to the other register, which had a line as well and was expected to go to the back of that line. Some sort of a joke? Nope - they were dead serious. I walked out the door and left my items where they were. Last time I visit this location, it is a shame too because it is conveniently located for me but no way i'll give a business my money who treats their customers like that. Stay away if at all possible. I have found that Target has better prices on almost everything anyways and luckily that is close by. read more

All of the issues below occurred during a single visit on 12/1/2017 at approximately 12:00pm. Four Issues: 1. There were no individuals servicing the deli counter who spoke enough English to understand what I was asking for. I asked for slices of the Havarti Dill. The first woman didn't understand that I was asking for cheese, so she asked a second woman. The second woman understood that I was asking for Havarti, but didn't know where to look for it. She asked a third woman who told her to "look over there." The second woman found a package of regular Havarti, even though I stated 4-5 times that I wanted the dill. When I said, "No, I don't want the regular, I want the dill," she told me that the store did not carry the dill. I pointed to the block of Havarti Dill visible in the deli case and said, "Um, yes you do carry it." She looked confused again and turned to ask the third woman for assistance. The third woman was in the back, talking with another employee and was not readily available to help. Ugh. I told woman number two that I didn't have any more time to wait and walked away. 2. I picked up 1lb of Honey Turkey Off the Bone. I buy it every week at my Plymouth, MN Cub. The batch I bought from this store was terrible. There's some weird, gelatin-like substance in the slices. 3. There were very long lines and very few cashiers available. In the time I was standing in line, someone paged "cashiers to their registers" several times before an additional lane opened up. 4. I tried to submit this info as a complaint on the Cub Foods website, but when I hit the Submit button, an error was generated and the site did not accept the entry. I LOVE the Cub Foods off of Hwy 55 in Plymouth. I go out of my way to go to that store. The staff are so helpful and I've never had to return a product. The Knollwood location could learn a lot from the Hwy 55 location. read more

One star is too many. Don't ever shop at the Texas Ave location in St. Louis Park. Worst ever. Prices are sky high, worst than Byerly's. They shut down registers at random times at night and don't alert customers at the door. When I suggested to the night manager it would be curious to notify customers of the times registers are down, he reacted as if it were a proposterous idea. These people are seriously missing major brain cells! They wax the floors during prime night shopping, so you can't even shop for the five things you can manage to afford. Go to a 24 hr Walmart. You'll actually have more succes there, shockingly enough. With such poor business practices I would be surprised if they're not bankrupt in 5 years. As one reviewer suspected, they really don't care about customer service. Cub's site doesn't even have a review option on their site. They don't care. They truly don't care, which is why I truly won't care to shop there ever again. read more
