Oh, there were several reasons we were raving about our experience at this cozy Greenwood bar. A…read morefew of them being... 1.) the atmosphere. This bar screams "crawl inside me, throw off your coat and stay awhile". The low lighting, exposed brick, local clientele and fun menu top it all off. 2.) For my fellow smokey cocktail drinkers: I recommend the Mexican Sunrise with grapefruit juice, Mezcal and a kick off spice. Note: they also have a decent selection of bourbons and local beer on tap and by the can. 3.) I can't stop thinking about the homemade ricotta bacon jam with sliced baguette. All thoughts of eating healthy were swept aside when this dish rolled out. "Healthy who?" 4.) I'm always advocating that beets could use more representation on menus (besides in salads...). If you're a fellow beet advocate, I'd give the pickled beets with whipped goat cheese and sliced almonds a try. 5.) Order the root veggies with browned butter and chimichurri - you can thank me later. 6.) The fact that Bar Rev is tucked in the back of Revery gives it this mysterious, secret club kind of vibe. Good news is, they allow newbies from Indy access ;) 7.) As for the classic question of parking. Easy peasy. You can find it in their private lot behind the bar or across the street in the bank lot during off hours.

When we sat down the gentlemen next to us was cashing out and said " That's why I'm not ordering a second one" and pointed to the tv. We asked for the Cubs game to be played, common for us when we visit with the "W" flying in the window but apparently tonight they don't carry it. That happens. It's hard to have every package to play every game. We could not listen to the screeching of the drama on the tv. I have never watched a game there and listened to it, there has always been background music playing. The atmosphere was a turn off for dinner. We cancelled our order. We will call before we come back.

I remembered taking a large group of colleagues visiting from India last June and having a really nice dinner and the menu had a variety of offerings to satisfy their dietary preferences. There is a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant although we were able to find street parallel parking nearby and my mother and I enjoyed the walk on a beautiful summer evening. We were greeted by a kind and friendly hostess who was able to fit us in as this was an impromptu dinner for two without a reservation. Our server, Sabra M, was friendly, upbeat and very professional, and patient. We ordered a half portion of the Noble Chop salad at the recommendation of our server. It included bacon, egg, white cheddar, heirloom tomatoes with a buttermilk dressing. The salad was very enjoyable. On this Friday evening, we were treated to a wonderful bonus of live music that was set up in the bar section, but we had a nice vantage point from our table which was a comfortable c-shaped booth. As I recognized multiple songs the artist was playing on his guitar and singing songs I remembered from my youth ( (Ie., Alison by Elvis Costello, 99 Red Balloons-Neva, Everybody Wants to Rule the World- Tears for Fears). My mom ordered the Filet Sliders for her entree which were seared tenderloin with horseradish and arugula (she passed on the red pickled onion) . She's very tiny, so the portion size was fine. I ordered the scallops which came with angel hair pasta and Chef selected seasonal vegetables and sauce that was delicious. For dessert, we chose to share the seasonal Peanut Butter Pie that was very tasty, rich in flavor, served with some caramel and chopped nuts to complement this treat. Not a crumb remained. If you're looking for a nice atmosphere, good food, and kind service, please consider visiting. There's some neat history as this is located in the former American National Bank building and the restrooms are in the former vault. Enjoy Noblesville, IN! ...Go Millers!

We started with oysters on the half shell. Shared the Caesar salad. Take a look at our dinner. So good. The view out front is a little (a lot) different for now... Fair warning, the street out front is torn up, but there is plenty of parking around back. I continue to love this place, and so does my husband.

We had a spectacular dinner at the hands of the new chef, Nicholas Murray. His concept is that starters and salads are meant to be shared. With the proteins, maybe not, although each was ample and could have been shared. We started with the Ahi Tuna Toast, Ahi Tuna on toast with heirloom tomatoes and fennel on a piece of sourdough toast. That was an excellent start to our dinner. Our other starter was a Stracciatella, orange supreme, candied pistachios, basil and olive oil panino. This, we thought, was an outstanding dish. Neither filled us so that we could not go on. We then moved to a caprese salad - unlike any caprese we had ever had. Again, heirloom tomatoes, pieces of mozzarella, pangrattato (a traditional Italian condiment made from breadcrumbs toasted in olive oil with garlic and herbs) basil and mixture of balsamic and soy. So delicious. From here, my spouse and I diverged. She ordered the half chicken. Chef Thomas Keller (famous for The French Laundry) believes that a properly roasted bird is a definitive benchmark for professional capability. The reason is because there is no place to hide. Achieving crispy golden skin with completely succulent, non-dry meat requires precise control over heat and timing. Chicken easily dries out and turns bland. My spouse's chicken WAS PERFECT! The skin was crispy but the meat was succulent, even the breast! Clearly, Chef Nick has mastered this deceptively simple dish. It was likely the best chicken we have had in a restaurant (or home). I ordered the trout (a butterflied rainbow trout) served over a white bean puree, butter beans and with an optional salsa verde. I opted against the salsa verde because the trout did not need it. Finally, a word about the desserts. I ordered something called "Liquid Nutella" served with a hazelnut crisp and an in-house vanilla gelato. Oh my. This dish was decadent and resembled most a molten lava chocolate cake. I am not ashamed to say that except for tastes I graciously gave my spouse, I at the whole thing! Chef Nick also urged that we try his key lime pie. We did, but given my predilection to hazelnuts and chocolate, the Liquid Nutella was my winner. Chef Nick has spent the last 20 or so years away from Indianapolis and its environs honing his skills at Beaker & Gray in Miami and Eleven Madison Park in NYC among other places. We are glad he has decided to come back home.
