Our builder, The Gardner Company used Wisconsin Granite for all of the granite in our kitchen,…read morebathrooms and laundry room. We love the look, the high quality and the installation throughout our new home. We are very pleased with the polished look and the excellent value the granite has added our home. I haven't had granite before and so I called and was given a friendly, well explained crash course on how to care for granite by their sales rep, I believe her name was Brittany. She was wonderful.

I appreciated that they were part of NARI and MABA associations so knew I would receive the highest quality craftsmanship. Only to find out they are not members of either! Left NARI membership in 2017 & only members of MABA for 1 year in 2015. Clearly to use logo and claim falsely. Initially I had a hard time getting a hold of them for details & pricing but with my persistence I was able to get some measurements & granite installation dates scheduled. All the details and documents to be signed were with poor communication and me being the follow up person. I'm not sure if this is standard or they truly don't need my business. With no prior discussions nor really much communication I revive a call the morning of - guys are heading out soon, any questions? Guys come, I was told they would arrive @ 9 am, I had a 9:20 appointment they arrived at 9:20. I was asked if I wanted a dishwasher air gap? I was told only Madison requires it. I don't love the look of it so was leaning towards no but said I would like to discuss it with my husband and get back to him. Glad I did, ITS CODE! Yes indeed I want a dishwasher air vent. Last thing I want is to sell our home and than have to put one in... I return from my appointment to see a slit in the sink area. So I questioned the cut in that spot. I was told it was standard and every household gets it, very common. I probably wouldn't have noticed it but the cut was jagged, like the blade was dull and nicked the stone. The lines don't connect and the filler is extremely obvious.( thick) I was pointed out that I had no choice. I again said I wish this was discussed. Where the faucet goes it would be mostly covered. The window above this area shines over it. IF this was discussed prior that a cut would be made in that spot I would have chosen a farm house sink so you couldn't see it. Again, poor communication. The guys decide to call the manager. He comes in and also confirms this is common but also tells me he told me. Let me reassure you, he did not. I would full note and remember this. My husband I sat outside 99% of his measuring time. The solution was to let the guys smooth the area and see if they can do it better. After almost an hour on this one spot, no. Not to mention a few pieces had to be recut along with the entire 4" backing... job is not even complete yet. The owners come out to our home. They welcomed themselves in with no introduction but immediately waking around complimenting the men's work. Scratching his finger nails into every cut. Words of the owners mouth were this is acceptable. We followed standards and code, "It is what it is" we shared our displeasure over the job and he said we would go to court if we didn't pay. We were going no where. This was rude and completely unprofessional behavior. I'm not sure what we would of ended up with because I had pointed out that the sink that we gave them brand new in the box at some point had glue drips in it ( men accidentally dropped while working) now they were gone but scratches in the Stainless were present. I want to be the one to scratch my sink, not workers when we haven't even used it yet. No one felt they did it but thankfully I had a photo so they agreed to fix it. We were told we would get a call later that day( Friday) Friday is here and gone as is Saturday. Saturday afternoon we get an email stating the sink can't be repaired so a new one was ordered and they will be in touch with the arrival date. Irritating but they did at least replace it. More appropriate if they called with a conversation maybe even an apology. We are without plumbing . Monday now 4 days later I get a call to find out where we purchased the sink. What? I thought they ordered one per the email Saturday? I send them the link, no call or email so I follow up Tuesday to be told that they ordered it and it arrives Saturday. We can come monday. Again, no apologies not even a thank you for the link or patience in this disaster. Saturday? 8 days later than the project started.. It could arrive anytime which ultimately means Monday and than plumbing on Tuesday. 12 days with no running water, that means no washing hands, rinsing anything, no dishwasher & all meals eaten out. Oh, and half a kitchen completed. We will see if this even happens in this time frame?! I also failed to mention the stone has nicks, notches , & glue spots threw out. ( owners said stone is not perfect) If you like the review and think this is the company for you. Please call Wisconsin Granite... be prepared to be amazed!

When the two painters came, they started putting the undercoat on. I called Michael right away and asked what they were doing because (as per contract) they were supposed to be sanding. He said, " it would be fine". As you can see from the pictures, it is not. It chipped immediately. When asked, Michael said I must be running carts into it. I have no idea what that means, and that my dogs must be scratching at them. I do not have dogs. Either way, the paint job that "will last a lifetime" (his words) lasted 2 days. There was wallpaper to be taken off. There are spots where that was left completely. when I mentioned it to Michael on his walk-through, he said, " I never would have noticed that." as if I should not have even bothered him with it. The painters didn't bring in drop cloths, one saying, " they're in the back of the truck. I don't want to dig them out." consequently he dripped paint on my tile, on my floors, on my carpet, on the woodwork. Michael's comments, " that happens." The wall in the kitchen didn't look great on the final walk-through. I asked Michael about it. He said it would look fine when it dried. It did not. when it started peeling I noticed it was only one coat of paint. Yes, Michael said that he would have his men come back, but why would I want them back in my home? They had already damaged my property. One was constantly trying to run game on me. the second pointed out things of mine that weren't up to his standard. The second day he walked in the front door without knocking or letting me know he was here. Started walking around my home. Both of them talked s when they thought I wasn't around. This company is garbage. From the work they do to the humans they are

Our experience started off well but quickly ran into trouble. The foundation was poured incorrectly, not to plan. We're first time home new home builders so we didn't notice the severe issue until it was too late. The walls were not poured to support the 10'+ height therefore our million dollar plus house has 8-9' walls with beams and duct work running throughout. There were other severe problems too - HVAC had to be put on the first floor instead of the utility room in the basement as planned, utilities coming from the road had to be routed through the house since the utility room was on the far side of house. We have several structural issues that he has not addressed, nor has he completed most of the punch list. He just went away - he was so over whelmed. There was no project plan for the build. I put up a communication board for the trades so we could try to keep things moving. The project went 6 months over. There were no, and I mean no changes to the plan unless we found out the plan didn't work. His wife who keeps the books said he should never have bid on the house, his health and memory have not been good since he had a major health issue a few years back. All I can say is that he's just incompetent. He rolls by the seat of his pants. He screams at his trades. Many have left him now that the market is better. They've told my this is typical Greg. It's been one of the worst, most stressful experience in our lives. We're organized, professional people. My dad build a few homes, I understand things happened but this was beyond frustrating. No real plan, poor to no communication resulting in a poor product.

He has a passion for what he does and a commitment to excellence. We had our fingers crossed that John's bid would come back within our budget. When the bids came back, John's was neither the highest nor the lowest. In fact, one well-respected local builder was about $200k higher than John, who was $20k over our budget and $10k more than the lowest bidder. Since we really wanted John, our architect set up a another meeting with John to go through the bid with a fine-tooth comb. John was very patient in working with us to figure out how to get the project within our budget. What a great decision it was for us to select John as our builder! First and foremost, our house was completed on time with no surprises. Throughout the process, John was at the homesite every day supervising the project. When you hire John's company to build your house, you get John supervising the project, not some employee. Here is something really important--some builders impose a charge every time you make a change to the plans. John doesn't charge anything for change orders (apart from the cost of materials and labor involved). We must have made 100 changes as our house was being built. For example, we made a multitude of changes to the design of the living room fireplace. John was incredibly patient with each change. He accepted our changes with enthusiasm, eager to provide what we wanted. Moreover, he always seemed motivated by maximizing our satisfaction rather than maximizing his profits. John also gave us lots of lead time and guidance as far as the various decisions that were on the horizon as the building process moved forward. By giving us a clear agenda well in advance of final decisions, we never felt rushed in making decisions. Moreover, John helped us make informed decisions, rather than pressuring us into quick decisions. We had thousands of questions about design options, building materials, and the construction process. John eagerly responded with clear and thorough answers, sometimes in-person, sometimes by email or texts. As a result, we learned so much about the building process. John made us feel like part of his team and his patience really paid off. As a result, we consistently made all the right decisions. All of John's subcontractors were excellent. Their work was always top-notch (markedly better than those who worked on my last house). They shared John's warm style and eagerness to answer questions. As we mentioned, our house was designed by an independent design firm. John worked with our designer seamlessly. Both John and our designer were very open to each other's perspectives as well as to our own design ideas. John also contributed his own design ideas (e.g., our fireplace and cabinetry design). Our kitchen was designed by a well-known local kitchen design firm, who also bid on our bathroom, living room and laundry cabinetry. John got us a competing bid from a local amish carpenter (but did so without any pressure on us). We stayed with the local kitchen designers for our kitchen cabinetry, but we went with John's amish carpenter for everything else. Not only did this result in a significant cost savings, but John's cabinet maker did truly excellent work. And with the savings we were able to make upgrades elsewhere in the house. John's flexibility really paid off and our house reflects a hybrid of design perspectives. It's been two years since we moved into our house. We just love it! We are so grateful to have worked with John. He has checked in several times to make sure that we are still happy customers. When you work with John, you always feel like you are his most important client. Given that this review is so glowingly positive, we feel somewhat at risk of losing credibility. So we tried to find something to be critical about with regard to building with John. But we honestly can't think of any negatives....Okay, maybe John should have advised us not to put in a KitchenAid refrigerator (but that's another story). But seriously, no negatives. In summary, John cares first and foremost about meeting his client's needs. Providing personalized and attentive customer service is much more important to him that building a big company or making a lot of money. He is very hands-on and dedicated to providing quality service. It became quite clear that John's definition of success is defined by the satisfaction of the homeowner.

It was really nice, not pushy and just answered questions and showed his flooring. He was very informative so we picked a floor that we liked and had a cork bottom to it. They came out and installed the floor, but unfortunately that floor started to curl up with the seams meet. They came out and inspected the floor and decided that it needed to be taken up and redone. Sally Redfern decided that the floor should be replaced, so they came out and brought samples. They weren't happy with the cork floor. So they showed me a different type of floor that they really stood behind and said nothing's gonna do anything to this floor and it was pretty nice looking so we went with it. Really happy we did. They did a great job did it really fast and the two guys that came out were like A+ installers. I felt really comfortable dealing with Crown Flooring. So that's all I have to say. Thanks.

We discussed and he told me I could expect to hear from him that day or the next. 3 weeks and 2 follow-up calls later and I've received nothing back. I don't appreciate having my time or energy wasted. I'll be looking to take my business elsewhere since it's seemingly not desired here.
