From the beginning he Knew it was Owner Builder. I was going to used him for the first two parts. Part #1 plans, permits, and Engineering and part #2 Custom excavation. I made the mistake and pay him $2400.00 for the first part. We wanted $6800.00 on the spot for the second part the first days of excavation. When I told him NO, he decided to terminated the first part and just gave me what he had. Which it was the Engineering and took $1600.00. He return only $800.00. I will be reporting him to the CA contractors Licensing Board. I was working with Paul which I believed his using Lost Dutchman Pools & Spas license. Be aware. I'm still investigating before I reported him with his insurance company Navigators Insurance Company. Don't use him and if you do make sure you only pay 10% to begin the work.

Our pool pump was fitted with a rebuilt motor shortly after purchase eleven years ago. In the last…read morefew months the motor began making more and more noise; it was clear that the motor would need replacement soon. Our electric bill was increasing each month as well. A search of the Internet made the case for a variable speed/variable flow pool pump, so we went to Yelp.com to find a highly recommended pool professional. After we got three proposals from high rated Yelp pool pros, I called one more - Freestyle Pools - and was introduced to Nick. Nick completely explained our options and provided us with a written proposal within minutes. We liked his prices and called him to see when he could install. He said he had the pump in stock and could install it that afternoon and haul away the old equipment. A lot of firms send a tech; I especially liked it that Nick would do the work himself. As promised, Nick arrived on time and surveyed the pool equipment. I suspected that there might be a need to upgrade more than the pump. The cramped way our pool equipment had been arranged left no room to install the new pump securely (see the BEFORE PICTURES with pool piping on a cinder block and the motor hanging off the slab). Nick would need to relocate the pool filter to the rear of the slab for the pump to line up on the concrete, and after some discussion I asked about a new one. Nick said if I bought a pump, filter and chlorine generator, Pentair would extend their warranty for all three pieces for (3) years. It made sense. Nick arrived at our home at 2:15PM, and - not counting a quick trip for parts - worked continuously until 7:30PM. If you look at the AFTER pictures, you'll see that Nick truly is an artist! He managed to line up the new pump on the concrete, facilitated by a new filter taking up less space to the rear, and the new configuration works like a champ, doesn't leak a drop, and is very quiet. I like watching someone work who know what he is doing, and Nick certainly knows pool equipment and operations! We were so impressed by Freestyle Pools that we even decided to try Freestyle as our weekly pool maintenance choice, leaving a pool service we have been using for a number of years! We are not folks given to whimsical changes, but our change was demanded by Nick's outstanding efforts to go "above and beyond" to satisfy our pool needs. We certainly are proud to recommend Freestyle!!

We had our pool project started in March 2020 and finished on January 2021. We dealt with Steve…read morewho was great and knowledgeable. Everything started amazing excavation was done in 2.5 days and they were able to work on a small space. Our issues happened when new subcontractors switched around. The scheduler Lulu dropped the ball on every step possible. The shotcrete people drained the cement mixer rubble on the HOA storm drains. They were suppose to dump chemical water onto the sewer pipes but dumped it in storm drain instead. Our first Flagstone/Tile guy did nothing for 3 weeks and that delayed the project. The new Tile/ flagstone guy did ok work but he buried 1200 lbs of cement and rocks debris in my planter boxes which I had to dig out. They almost forgot to install overflow connection until I pointed it out. The overflow connection was poorly done and takes forever to drain. The pebbletec vendor cut pipe from our auto filler and sprayed over it. it took over a week to locate filler and drain hole and they had to drill leavingcrap load of debris and having to drain 2000 gallons of water. The final inspection took 1 year to complete due to vendor not scheduling. There are a few finishing touches that were missed. Over all I am happy with my pool but I feel like I did a lot of over sight that the general contractor should have done. There should have been someone that visited the site on a weekly period. You have to be vocal and look over the subcontractors shoulders. Sadly they are just doing this for dollar and sometimes very little thought process. My control panel is free standing almost in the middle of our deck I am not sure why I was not consulted where I would like the panel, I would have gladly had it mounted to the house outside wall like a circuit breaker panel. Like I said I am mostly very happy but that was because I had to take matters into my hands.

Padre pools had been our vendor for a few years and it really harmed our community and pool…read more Brickrow Management referred them to us and it ended up being a nightmare. We had two weekly visits assigned per our contract along with many of the standard items such as vacuum, skim and scrub the walls. They would check chemicals and that's about it. Management is absent and the techs do whatever they want, which is nothing much. Our pool was always filthy, had been shut down a few times by the city and their price gouging on repairs were astronomical. Organization and standard cleanliness is not part of their program as they had literally used our poolroom as a dumpster and staging place for old parts and trash. The best part of Padre was getting rid of them. I highly recommend looking for another pool service or terminating them if you currently use them, as if you try and even work with them on contract related requirements, they literally refuse to comprehend customer service and quality of work.
