Our first and certainly not last visit to Crystal Basin Station in Historic Folsom! We joined their wine club a few years back after a super fun Yelp Elite event including a behind the scenes tour and opportunity to make our own blend of red wine. It had been a while since we took delivery of our club shipment so we decided to check out their "new" (to us) tasting room in Old Folsom. Plus, we were lured by the Mourvedre flight offering. Loved this prime location! Not sure what - you know, besides a global pandemic - took us so long! We'll definitely be back.

After walking by the river or going on a walk by the American River a relaxing place to go to cool down and have great wine is Crystal Basin Station. Now they have a charcuterie board . If your hungry good for 2 but really built for more. My husband is a big fan of the bread. Cheers

    Taste!

We invited friends and family for an afternoon tasting, grabbed lunch from the café next door, and expected a warm local winery experience. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the most disappointing tasting room visits we've had. The biggest issue was the complete lack of hospitality and awareness toward an older woman in our group recovering from knee surgery. There was no accommodation, no concern, no acknowledgment whatsoever. Instead of any table service or attentiveness, we repeatedly had to get up and walk inside the tasting room over and over for every single pour. By the end of the tasting, we got more steps in than a cattle drive. The two ladies working behind the counter looked like they were counting the minutes until closing time. No smiles. No energy. No effort to educate us about the wines, engage with guests, or make anyone feel welcome. We honestly felt more like an inconvenience than paying customers. I've seen friendlier expressions on bulls during branding season. What makes this especially frustrating is that the tasting room wasn't even busy -- there were maybe three other couples there besides our group. This wasn't staff being overwhelmed. It simply came across as lazy, disengaged, and rude service. The only thing flowing less than the hospitality was the wine pours. What surprised us most is that we've visited several other local wineries in the area over the years and have consistently experienced warm hospitality, friendliness, and genuine customer care. So this experience really stood out -- and not in a good way. Usually wine country feels welcoming. Here, we felt like a herd that wandered into the wrong pasture. Such a shame because the location and concept have so much potential, and we really wanted to support a local winery so close to home. Sadly, our guests left just as disappointed as we did. This tasting experience had less warmth than a steel feed trough in January. Mad Cow Review Rating: -- Two Bulls Down Great opportunity. Terrible hospitality. Would've had a better customer experience being licked by a pasture cow.

Is this some nouveau wine tasting experience where we communally pass the bottle around like hobos sitting around a fire barrel? Our group of 8 whispering to one another, "where are our wine glasses?" Set before us were bottles of wine but no stemware to imbibe the elixir. We flag down a server; a gawky bespeckled young man sporting an earpiece as if he were cosplaying a secret service agent. The outspoken leader of our group pleads, "please bring us some wine glasses." ......Five Minutes pass No wine glasses ............Ten Minutes pass No wine glasses The spark of fortitude strikes me, a hero stands tall. I make my way inside to the counter and stake my claim to the rows upon rows of sparkling and wanting glasses perched on the bar. Alas, we finally tasted the mediocrity peddled as gold medal winning! This self-serve style of experience befuddled us. The servers were purely ornamental. The vintages left our wallets lighter and gullets soured. Our precious mintutes on earth squandered.
