Delicious bread sticks that go with a tasting
Lexi L.

Literally any Rombauer wine I taste, I like. Their tasting rooms and patio are classy yet casual, and best of all, you can bring your dog inside! The service is great, and the notes on each wine are easy to understand yet in depth and guide you through the thought behind each wine. This is a must-stop when you're in Amador!

If you go here for wine tasting, have nothing less than their reserves. Everything else is available at your local box store or liquor box store BUT you will have a great experience just because of the ambiance. You need to buy your snacks inside their retail store. Their restrooms are like giant porta potties in a trailer. The process is pretty organized. Make your reservation and when you get there, your reservation is assigned to one of their servers. Shrugging my shoulders..... best part of this tasting experience? The server! Go figure!

We were given choice of a flight or glass of wine!

Franklin was our sever today. He poured us amazing wines and was very knowledgeable about them. Next time we will do the chocolate and wine pairing!

Sunny day at Rombauer! Best was to escape the foggy cold valley. Best winery with excellent service!

We had the most amazing experience learning about Rombauer. This service was extremely personable and were given a fabulous choice of non-alcoholic beverages for the nonalcoholic guest. Atmosphere was relaxing on a sunny Sunday

Came on Labor Day to enjoy some family time with my sister, mom, sister in law and niece. The wine is delicious. Started with their 2024 Sauvignon Blanc. So crisp and refreshing! Relaxing atmosphere. Staff is lovely and upbeat! Love this place!

Instantly right off the bat, their cold air conditioning hits your inner soul. It's a nice refuge from the brutal summer heat, although there still are people out there on their nice patio. The 2023 Rombauer Sauvignon Blanc was absolutely splendid. It had a very sweet flavor but also a hint of earthy, wonderful blend. Their complimentary sea salt crackers were the cherry on top. All of their wines are stellar. Absolutely no complaints from me. Bottom line/TLDR: amazing winery.

When we arrived, we had no issues with parking. The location is easy to find and there are lots of parking spaces. We were immediately greeted by the friendly staff. They offer complimentary PH balanced filtered water in stylish aluminum bottles, which kept us responsibly hydrated throughout our tour. Our guide was the experienced and friendly Rachel, who answered all of my geeky questions. We enjoyed tastings and cheese pairings in a well ventilated outdoor setting made up of comfy patio furniture and shade. There is also an indoor tasting room if it's your preference. Our favorite wines were the classic Chardonnays and the Barbera. My memorable moments were also hearing about the stories of the founder. They also have plenty of swag and nibbles to purchase. They are also dog friendly, offering puppy treats and water for your fur babies.

Had a fantastic wine tasting experience here. Rombauer Chardonnay has always been a favorite. We made a last minute outdoor wine tasting for a late Sunday afternoon (1.5 hour duration). It couldn't have been better. We were greeted and brought to a table immediately at check-in. It was crowded and looked like a German beer garden with all the people. Yet, it was very pleasant and relaxing. Our taste master, Jake, was very attentive and did a great job about describing each wine. He also paced it well, and gave us a couple of comparative choices of varietals, which were spot on to taste the differences. The prices can be on the high side, but not out of reason for the quality. We ended up buying some of the better quality choices, and glad we did. Of course, the Chardonnay and also the Zinfandel which were a standout. If there is any downside it works be the number of people, but good for them for a weekend. And parking was challenging. Nonetheless we enjoyed it immensely.

10/10 recommend checking our Rombauer! Just signed up for the wine club to continue to enjoy the wine. The late harvest Chardonnay is amazing and I highly recommend picking up a bottle of the Joy port as well. Rachael is amazing! She helped us out and was so friendly and kind.

We made reservations for a classic tasting on a recent Saturday. It was a bit early for us (10:00 am), but all the noon reservation times were filled. We opted for an indoor tasting. We actually prefer the outdoor seating, but it was a bit on the cooler side so we were happy to be indoors. We tasted six wines. Our favorites were the 2021 Carneros Chardonnay ($40 retail, $34 club member), the 2021 Pinot Noir ($65 retail, $55.25 club), and the 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet ($75 retail, $63.75 club). The tasting fee is $25 per person, but the fee is waived if you are a club member. It really pays to have reservations; when we showed up for our 10:00 am tasting, there was a line of people at the check in counter. We have also come here for just a glass of wine on the outdoor patio, but the outdoor area can fill up too, especially on weekends.

Franklin was the best! Great service and wine tasting! The Chardonnay and Cabernet are my favorites that were available during the tasting.

In my opinion, they are doing so many things to enhance the wine tasting experience, it could blow away the competition. Examples are as follows: 1. Rebuilding, refinishing and updating the tasting room and facility. 2. Hiring the former Sous Chef from Taste restaurant to create food offerings/pairings and provide a small bite sample with wine tasting. 3. Display unique and unusual art in and around the property. (They have seven full size panels from the Berlin Wall adjacent to the tasting room.) 4. Staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. 5. The wine pricing is reasonable when compared to the quality. 6. Both the food and wine are excellent. That said, I think the one possible stumbling point could be their attempt to blend in their east coast sister wines and styles with this region. It might be an interesting idea, but I am uncertain people locally will appreciate or understand the effort. The Amador wine region is not Napa Valley, and I don't think it possesses the international appeal, notoriety or demographics that will support the concept of bi-coastal wines. In any event, we will return to further experience the ongoing evolution of this remarkable winery.
