She actually had a valve issue that was clearly identified on the diagnostic code he ran and was fully covered by Subaru. Despite this, Al told her the car was unsafe to drive without replacing the radiator and pushed the repair. After the radiator was replaced, the car still did not function properly. The issue was ultimately fixed at Subaru when the valve was replaced. When confronted, Al acknowledged that she probably should have gone to Subaru first, yet he offered no compensation or accountability for charging her for an unnecessary radiator and labor. This wasn't an honest mistake; it was poor judgment at best and predatory behavior at worst. I'm posting this so others can avoid the same situation. There are plenty of mechanics in the area (e.g. Everest Automotive) choose one with integrity who won't scare customers into unnecessary repairs.

I brought it into Royal Tech, and Yen did some research on the issue and was able to replace my transmission solenoids and the ribbon belt instead of replacing the entire transmission. The VW dealership had told me I'd need a new transmission ($2000 repair on a $1300 car? Uh, no thank you.) Yen's wife was able to pick me up from my house when my car was ready. I ended up paying *exactly* what I was quoted - $843. A+ repair work, friendly service, and honest people all at a fair and reasonable price. I will come back to Royal Tech every time I need a repair.

I called around 5:45 PM, explained what was going on with my vehicle, and was told that if I could get there by 6:00 PM, they would be happy to help. Unfortunately, just minutes before arriving, I got caught at a red light, and my car suddenly wouldn't accelerate even though it was still in drive. I had to put my hazards on, turn the car off and back on a few times, and thankfully, I was eventually able to get it moving again. At 5:57 PM, I called the shop back to explain what had just happened. Honestly, I was already prepared to tell them that I completely understood if they could no longer help me because of the time. However, Rick still came outside, scanned my vehicle, and went above and beyond to help me. During the inspection, he noticed that my car was completely out of oil, which appeared to be one of the immediate concerns, especially with the possibility of an oil leak. He even went as far as giving me 5 quarts of oil to help me out. Rick's willingness to help didn't just mean getting answers about my car. By taking the time to assist me, he helped me get home from work safely and still make it to my sibling's birthday celebration. Those were two things I genuinely didn't know if I would be able to do after what happened with my vehicle. What really stood out to me was that Rick didn't leave until approximately 6:35 PM, well after closing time. He absolutely did not have to stay that long, but he chose to take the extra time to help someone who needed it. Extremely Disappointing Experience - Beware of the Final Bill! In the middle of the day, they called to tell me the cleaning had not completely resolved the issue and recommended replacing the spark plugs and ignition coils. I agreed to the additional work, but at no point during that phone call did they tell me what it would cost. Imagine my shock when I arrived to pick up my car and was handed a bill for $1,600! Going from a service that was supposed to cost less than $300 to a $1,600 bill without clearly communicating the additional cost beforehand is absolutely unacceptable.

Before Henry touched my car, the sunroof would at least open all the way but would get stuck when closing. Henry hooked up a diagnostic tool and kept manipulating the sunroof. He managed to get the sunscreen to close but not the actual sunroof. A couple of days later, I realized the sunroof wouldn't open at all anymore after he worked on it. To make matters worse, I later noticed he had loosened a screw on the sunroof and didn't even tighten it back. I contacted him to come back and fix what he made worse, and at first, he said he would--but then gave me the runaround. I paid him $95 and even tipped $20, and now my sunroof is in worse condition than before. Extremely unprofessional and disappointing.
