Dante was upfront and honest with me and provided me with options to keep this necessary repair financially manageable. Being convinced of Benchmark's integrity and after seeing their many great reviews, I chose a more expensive out of pocket option to have Benchmark remanufacture my existing transmission rather than take my chances on a rebuilt one shipped from the warranty company. I have put over 12,000 miles on the truck since the Benchmark repair and the transmission is as much like brand new as it was the day I picked it up. I did not expect them to even get to it on Monday since this was not scheduled or anything. Got a call Monday with diagnosis, estimate, and an expected completion date. He called a few days later to update me on the progress and even confirmed it would be done sooner than initially expected. The rebuild included road testing, and the odometer proved that was done sufficiently. The bill came in just a bit lower than the estimate. I had done my research on this beforehand, and spoken to others with the same vehicle and knew this was a fair price. I am confident I wasn't ripped off. No BS, not shady, no surprises. OUTSTANDING!!! I have a 2003 Jeep TJ with a 5-speed manual transmission. After hearing some…read morenoises, something broke and my drive train locked up. I figured I broke something in the transmission (judging from past experience with a different vehicle). Most transmission shops in the area refuse to touch a manual transmission. I went to see Mark at Cottman Transmission in New Castle. He showed no hesitation whatsoever. After we talked, he immediately dispatched a tow truck, at no charge, to pick up my vehicle (on a busy Friday) and had my Jeep in his shop within the hour. On Monday, he had determined that the problem was broken gears in the rear differential, and NOT in my transmission. This was good news! He gave me a very fair estimate, and I picked up my fully repaired Jeep on Wednesday after paying a few dollars UNDER the original estimate. In addition, he had checked out the rest of the drive train to ensure everything was in good shape. Overall, the service from Cottman Transmission in New Castle was excellent, and Mark was extremely professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and very responsive. Honest, reliable, and eager to serve a first time customer, I wouldn't hesitate to come back, and I highly recommend this shop. Lastly, I have a 1979 Jeep CJ-5 with a Chevy 350 in need of a new transmission, and I look forward to working with Mark to get it back on the road for the spring Jeep season!

That said, I truly believe that when someone goes above an beyond what they are expected to do they deserve credit where credit is due. I took my Mazda into Benchmark after doing ton of online research and didn't tell him a thing about what I found. I wanted to see what Joe found. I knew I need a new transmission and Joe confirmed it but didn't try an up sell me on something I didn't need. In fact, he found and fixed simple things that had nothing to do with my transmission as he came across them - at no extra charge. One year later, my trans acts up. Dam. Called Joe. Told him what was up an brought it in. After taking a look and doing some research he found a part that was used to rebuild the trans had been recalled but we were never informed. I will still under warranty and Joe fix everything without a cent. Fast forward to today. More car troubles. Unfortunately, I've moved out of state but I still call Joe. Tell him exactly what the AAMCO is telling me and he calls it like it is and tells me he disagrees with my new shop. He has no gain in my car but takes the time to listen, do his own research, find the part I need and even offered to order and send it to me saving me soooo much money. Joe is legit.
