Just absolutely wow. I should have come here a LONG time ago. The mushroom brie soup was amazing, the south of the border salad was ok, but the island thyme bowl was such perfection. The flavors blended well together, and the cauliflower rice picked up the dressing flavors beautifully. The vanilla tea was very unique, and the flat bread pizzas, whole grain, were pretty tasty. We visited this location today, and were not impressed at all! First of all, the girl at the counter, who takes our order, will not make eye contact, and was evasive to answer any questions. We wanted a "pick two", and had questions about the salads and the pizza. Could not get a straight answer, so we just "winged" it, and hoped for the best. I asked about the toppings on the pizza, and you would think it was a major challenge to tell me if I could get sausage on it. We just ordered cheese, as it was easier. Our salad had grilled chicken on it, and the amount of chicken was good, but the salad was very small, and had a very salty, awful tasting cheese on it. Our 4 piece pizza was about the size of a piece of bread, cut into 4 2" square sections. Needless to say, we will not be back. I placed my order online and spent $20 thinking that probably meant I ordered way too much food. I got the cow poke salad and fresh mozzarella starter. When I got there my food was sitting where anyone could take it and I was very surprised with the size considering the cost...$8 for maybe half a small tomato and a couple slices of mozz and I left wondering if given the small salad. We love Crushed Red, and frequent the Olive location. When visiting this location, it seemed as though the employees would rather be anywhere but there. We did not see one of them smile, or greet customers in a friendly manner. This spot is a welcome addition to a generic strip mall that formerly didn't have much in the way of dining options. I was looking forward to trying Crushed Red, as this is a place I would classify as a local mini-chain, with several outposts in St. Louis, as well as locations in Kansas City, Colorado, and (soon) Edwardsville Illinois. The Chesterfield location is the latest link in this chain. Coming here after the lunch rush was a wise choice as the line was not long. The ordering setup was easy to grasp (one line for flatbread pizzas and a separate one for salads, which can be either ordered off the menu or customized). I appreciate that the salads come in a variety of sizes (and price points): the mini, regular, and large. I went with the health nut. I noted that a couple behind me in the line chose the customizable option. I enjoyed my salad, especially the fact that it was chopped. It was cool to see the ingredients being sliced and diced, and everything was fresh. My only minor nit to pick is that I would have subbed grapes for dried cranberries. The Margherita pizza that I sampled was tasty and the pesto imparted an authentic touch, although I usually prefer a crispier crust. Pro tip: Crushed Red offers happy hours from 4 pm- 6 pm (drink specials and $5.50 shareables) even on Cards and Blues game nights. Given the ample seating and plentiful flat screens around the space, I could see this being a great alternative to a sports bar. read more

This is the perfect go-to for a quick but quality meal. I like the set up with the salads made to order at the counter and a wide selection of pizzas and even beer and wine. I have been a few times and recommend the pear on fire salad and goat cheese appetizer! The flatbread pizzas are not necessarily the best pizzas you've ever had and are pretty small, but they are made to order and can be customized! For a midsize to larger group I would recommend ordering multiple salads and pizzas to share, along with the goat cheese appetizer! My husband and I stopped in for a bite, our first "date" in quite a while due to various life obligations. We debated about staying at first because the place was freezing. Other people in line were wrapping their arms around themselves too. However, we went ahead and ordered a pizza and salad to share. They were delicious, and as we paid for our food, we asked if it would be possible to turn up the thermostat a few degrees. (Seriously, the booth seat was cold and the silverware was icy.) The gentleman who took our request must have been able to do something, because before long it was far more comfortable in there. I used to work at Crushed Red. Wonderful bosses, great environment...I loved it. So I thought I'd re-apply. I got hired on the spot. Collin, one of the managers told me he'd just have to check with HR and we'd be good. HR came back clean. I was elated! Until...Collin said he spoke with his boss (Jessica I believe) and they weren't comfortable hiring due to a prior incident. The prior incident was from a mental health breakdown. NOT "outstanding customer service" as the owner espouses! My husband and son came into the restaurant prior to closing. Someone asked what they wanted. Since my husband has never eaten at this restaurant before. He spent a couple of minutes looking at the menu. Others were being served and eating at the restaurant at this time. When he tried to order he was told that they were closed and was refused to be served. He did not try to order past 9 which is their posted closing time. No one asked that they order right then, no one provide a warning the restaurant wouldn't serve after a certain time. It's not like they were shutting down a grill. Crushed Red should lock your doors when closed and tell their patrons that are in the restaurant when they stop serving. I'm also adding that I called the store and spoke to someone after closing, I emailed the store, the general manager and left a voice mail for the owner and NO ONE responded about this. Bad Customer service! I'd like to add I used to be a regular customer at the Clayton restaurant ,which I had really liked.I have eaten at the Chesterfield location a few times. My experiences have been off and on. The restaurant is filthy even when they are not busy. For some reason they pile on the bacon and barely give you any mushrooms on your salad. Impressive upscale salad bar with wood oven pizza & appetizers. You make your own or choose a menu salad then sit down in really comfy booths or tables. I like how the silverware & real napkins are laid out on the table. They serve wine. Very nice staff. Was a great experience. One disappointment that would keep me from returning. Have a 45 minute lunch break, called ahead to ensure that my food was ready when I got there. They said, definiltey it would be ready in ten minutes. I left and was stuck in traffic for about 25, so it was 30 mins when I got there. They hadn't started making my food, I had to stand there and wait for it to be made from scratch. We stopped in last week, noticing the new signage on the building (I forget the restaurant that occupied that space before). The restaurant is trendy and very clean - the staff seemed new and in disarray, thankfully when we entered the line was very short. The ordering process is "assembly line" - you walk along and see the ingredients you can add to your order. My wife ordered a salad, and loved it, I ordered a pizza, and definitely should have ordered something else to go along with it, the pizza is about the width of 2 butter dishes and a little longer. On a workday, ordered 2 salads to go. When I went to pick up, there was a long line to get to the first counter. I looked around for signs where to pick up for delivery, but did not see any. Fortunately, there was a worker at the counter that I could ask (but I felt like I was butting in front of people), who directed me to the far back counter... apparently, this counter is where the line feeds into and people pay. There were people in line there but I guess they figured out I was there for pick up and asked my name. So while they were ringing up someone, they walked away to get my salads, then I paid next.(so again, felt like I was butting in.) Now, the salads were great but I would suggest a better flow with signage. But then maybe your focus is not the workforce at lunchtime for pick up. read more

I loved this place when it first opened, but as a frequent customer, I've seen the customer service go downhill. The employees making the salads have consistently been friendly and efficient. The problem is in the lack of customer service skills by those at the register. One time, my husband's order was lost, i.e., never prepared. After waiting 10 minutes to find this out, he asked for a refund. The cashier never once apologized, or even offer to prepare it again for free. The last time, which was yesterday, after trying for 25 minutes to order ahead online, I was told by the cashier in a monotone voice, "yeah, we are having problems with that". Then I showed him how my small salad didn't even fill the container, and he said nothing, and rang my order up at full cost. What has happened to good customer service? For the price this place charges, I expect more than absolutely no customer service, which is what we have seen. read more
