Owners are selling? Woohoo! After leaving them a 5 star review, becoming regulars, always tipping…read moregenerously, never using my rewards points, helping them do stuff around the bar, bringing more business to their establishment, the wife decides to switch up on me out of the blue one night. Bc she is a somm, I told her I had a question about a wine... with a nasty attitude she told me to ask someone else. WTH? I did absolutely nothing to this woman. I was in complete shock. Needless to say, we never went back and it's now been 4 YEARS. But now that they're finally selling, we just might give the place another shot. Looking forward to the new, and hopefully not petty, ownership! And yes, I agree, the food wasn't great either. I was just giving them time since they were new and trying to be nice to what I thought were new friends. One of the weirdest experiences ever.

I finally got the opportunity to try SG. I usually make decisions on ratings, and word of mouth…read more Therefore SG was on my list. We were a group of four on a Saturday night seeking pizza. Well first the pizzas are an average $30-$40 for a 12" or 16". We don't mind paying a premium if the product matches. This wasn't the case. They advertise wood fire pizzas, that's not what we received. On the way out I looked into the kitchen. I could only see the normal pizza ovens. The pizza did not have the classic bubbling and slightly burned spots as a wood fired pizza has. The pizza we rated at a 6 and that's a generous number. I ordered the bbq chicken pizza. Well I thought I ordered it with chicken ? I rejoiced when I found one lonely strip of flavorless chicken, the pizza was not crisp , loads of sauce and a bit on the sweet side. Usually if there any leftovers, I will take it home. This time , I forced myself to eat what I could and left the rest. Two others in our group had similar experiences. One of our party ordered a sandwich, we believe the salt shaker cap must of came off because all she could taste was salt. The good which is what pushed the rating to a 3 star. Is the customer service. My friend is handicapped and they were very accommodating to him. The beer was nice and cold. Doubtful we will back. There is a house down the road with better pizza

He has an incredible selection of both full and half bottles to pick from, and is very helpful if you're in search of something special but don't really know how to go about deciding. Valley Wine Merchants also has a unique wine club opportunity, that is tailored to whatever region, taste, or combination of both you desire. Don't want NW Pinot?, fine, try something delicious from Italy or France. Andrew also stays on top of the best of the best from the many small vineyards in the area and keeps you in the know related to special opportunities. Highly recommend this business!

We were wandering around downtown Newberg when the skies decided to open up. Unprepared for the…read morerain and with a couple of hours to kill, we decided to seek shelter at VWM to check out the selection and talk to owner Andrew. When I go to a wine shop, I like to see how well organized the store is. I've been in some shops that have open cases of wine at every endcap and it feels disorganized and chaotic, not to mention it makes it very challenging to find anything. On this front, VWM has a well-organized selection and absolutely no clutter on the floors - two walls with wine, and a decent number of labels as well, and plenty of space to walk. The shop focuses on wines from Oregon, which makes sense. Perhaps 60% or more of the labels are from Oregon producers, and most of those are smaller producers that might not see a ton of distribution. There was also a decent selection of champagnes as well as a smattering of still wines from France (mostly Burgundy), Italy, etc. This is a very well-curated selection with some unique wines as well - when's the last time you've seen Beaujolais Blanc or the Saint-Amour cru from Beaujolais? And not to worry if you don't know the first thing about wine. Andrew, the owner, is incredibly knowledgable and knows all of his wines inside out. Whether you're looking for something specific or not sure what to go, you will almost certainly leave the shop with a wine you'll love and within the budget you indicated. In terms of price, you may be able to find some of the wines more cheaply than VWM's price. I looked up a few labels compared to retail prices for shops in my home state and found VWM is about 10% more expensive on average, however I'd gladly pay slightly more to receive the value-added knowledge that Andrew adds to the buying experience - details about the producer, its history, its winemaker, the site, etc. Although many of us that travel to the region are there to visit wineries and do tastings, if you're looking for an excellent shop where you can find some Oregon's best producers all in one place, VWM is definitely the place. Best part is that they can ship to most states so you don't have to worry about carrying a case (or two) of wine back on an airplane and wondering if it'll survive the journey home.

No matter what, you won't be disappointed. The entire place has cozy seating options throughout the entire space. Outdoor fire pit, small alcoves and plenty of regular seating in the front if you want to admire all of the wine bottles for sale. This is a perfect place to stop if you want to grab lunch or picnic items on your way out to the vineyards for wine tasting! Most wine tasting rooms will let you bring outside food to enjoy while you taste. So this is a go to spot for me as I prepare to enjoy my day out near the vines. All menu food is prepared from scratch, so expect to wait a reasonable amount of time for the legit goodness that awaits you. I love their sandwiches but they are known for the wood fired pizzas. A great place to grab a gift if you need a bottle of wine or other lovely local treats to share with another special person... definitely be sure to check it out when you're passing through Dundee next time

The Benedict and Steak and Eggs were really good. Their breakfast special however was not. It was a variation on an omelette and it was just tasteless.
