    Oatmeal cream with berry jam
    Terrence M.

Cookie: oatmeal with a cream and beery topping. Pros: this cookie taste better the next day. Meaning the flavors have to settle in order for everything to work. When I tasted this cookie right off the press it wasnt sweet at all. But together with the frosting it was poppin! Cons: the cookie part was not sweet the day of. Now together with the frosting and the berry topping was great together.

Talk about a guilty pleasure! Ordinarily I avoid "pretty" desert offerings, because their eye-appeal far exceeds their taste. Not so at Crumbl Cookies. These luscious cookies are as good as they look. My favorites are the Classic Sugar Cookie and the Milk Chocolate Chip. For such a busy location, the well-managed Staff do a great job keeping up with the crowds. I find the store is always clean and bright, the outside area picked up, employees neatly "uniformed," and the service is fast and friendly. No shortage of hustle here! TIP: The Crumbl Cookies in Salem is always busy, so to avoid any waiting on my part, I like to order ahead, and take advantage of their Curbside Pickup. Fully deserving Five Stars, I will return - way to often :)

Very lucky that I happened to be in Salem on the day of the Grand Opening. Everyone in line received a free chocolate cookie!! The cookies were phenomenal. Each cookie was very flavorful, soft, and came out nice & warm too. The cookies are pretty big too! One cookie can be good for 2 people. They have a weekly rotating menu as well, so every Sunday they have new flavors that you can choose from. You can always check their social media to see what flavors they have before you visit. I came in around 6:00 PM and I had to wait about 30 to 45 minutes in line, which isn't too bad. The cookies and customer service were great, so it was worth the wait. Lots of parking in this plaza too. My only complaint was how safety precautions were handled during COVID-19. They had markers on the ground for social distancing, but it didn't seem to be 6 ft apart to me. There were also many customers who were allowed to go inside without a mask - it was especially children and older folks that weren't wearing one. Although there were several signs that encouraged pandemic protocols, the staff did not enforce them and made me feel unsafe being near customers that were exposing themselves freely.

Love that they don't run out of popular flavors. I can go late at night and they still have a nice selection. They are really nice too.

Cookies are very dry and way too expensive. I can get better cookies at local bakeries for less.

However, you…read moremight currently find Jen Adams' cupcakes for sale at Adam's Rib Smokehouse in Salem, Oregon. Walking inside Adam's, there was a female employee at the ordering counter. I closely examined her mannerisms, intentionally asking random questions to test her. Not a lot of smiling. A semi-disinterested look, with similar responses. I've seen worse, but I'd hardly call such demeanor acceptable for the front of the house. Adam's should be lucky I wasn't there to rate the staff. Four cupcakes were available from Jenuine Desserts on my visit to Adam's. Chocolate Peanut Butter sounded great, but seemed too heavy for me at the time. Toasted coconut sounded lovely, and the confetti cake with vanilla buttercream was basically screaming at me to pick it. So of course, I went with the last option: red velvet with a cream cheese buttercream frosting. After placing my order, the young female employee went to the back, even though four cupcakes were sitting under a glass dome at the ordering window. I couldn't gauge how long they had been under there, but I got there a bit past 11 in the morning. She brought back a red velvet cupcake in a plastic see-through container. Pink edible sprinkles caressed the top of the buttercream for a great color contrast. But alas, the container was cold. At that moment, I had negative thoughts that the cupcake was cold and not fresh, perhaps refrigerated. In other words, the actual cake would be heavy and dry. And I was correct. It pains me, because I'd think people would yearn for fluffy, room-temperature cupcakes. I can only assume I came at an unfortunate time when staff needed to make sure the older products were sold first. I'm happy that any red food coloring was kept to a minimum, because I've seen those solid red cupcakes that just make me fear a bit for my health. The cream cheese buttercream was well-prepared: smooth and not overly sweet. The buttercream appeared to go to the middle of the cupcake, doubling as a filling. I personally like filled cupcakes, so I felt that was a plus. The overall flavors were palate-pleasing. I'll award at least a small happy panda dance for such fine work. Jen should have other attractive creations available, depending on the season. I'd bet a good amount of money you'd see her at a Farmer's Market in the coming months. Such events are great ways to get your name out there without enduring ridiculously high business/startup costs. I'm unsure if cupcakes are made fresh each day. I'd consider making some for lunch and a few for dinner. Adjust the number of cupcakes made accordingly. It's probably understandable that even this is a tall task, assuming Jen has catering events and other online orders to take care of. The cupcake has promise, but the non-freshness of the product significantly destroyed the experience. I'd consider giving these cupcakes another try, and hopefully, I'll get a fresher cupcake next time.

It's on a cute street in the heart of downtown, just blocks from the riverfront. It's a small space with a couple of indoor tables and a few tables on the sidewalk. We were greeted warmly and given time to look over the menu and space to ask questions. We went with a dozen, 2 of each flavor, and a couple of drinks. We all really enjoyed the cinnamon sugar, which was served piping hot. My husband loved the maple. My favorites were the lemon poppyseed and the chocolate, which tasted a lot like a brownie. My daughter's favorite was the s'mores, you could definitely taste the marshmallow in the glaze. It's astonishing that these are vegan and gluten free! They were better than I expected, better than a "regular" one. My daughter got their strawberry matcha and declared it better than any she had in Japan. It had strawberry puree on the bottom and was dusted with strawberry on top. We also tried their seasonal latte, which was good! This will be a must visit anytime we are remotely near Salem and we would love to see them open a spot in Portland! Just putting that into the universe.

I have been a loyal customer of this cake shop for the past three years, which is why I feel it's…read moreimportant to share some honest feedback. One of the biggest issues I've noticed is the inconsistency in portion sizes. For example, cake slices are often cut noticeably different sizes from one visit to the next. When customers are paying around $8 per slice, there should be consistency so everyone receives the same value. Investing in a cake slicer or portioning guide could help solve this issue. I also recently ordered a 6-inch birthday cake for my daughter, and when I received it, it appeared to be barely 5 inches. To the owner's credit, they did reach out to me, acknowledged the issue, and provided a gift card to make things right, which I genuinely appreciated. Good customer service means a lot, and I want to recognize them for addressing my concern. Unfortunately, the replacement cake I ended up purchasing was disappointing. Nobody in my family was particularly happy with it, and the quality just wasn't what we've come to expect. Over the last year especially, it seems like the quality and freshness of the cakes have become inconsistent. Sometimes they're excellent, and other times they taste stale or simply aren't very good. Customer service can also be hit or miss. I've had some positive interactions, but there have also been times when the service felt less than welcoming. I am not writing this review to tear down a local business. In fact, I continue to support them because I know what they're capable of when they're at their best. However, consistency is important. Consistent cake sizes, consistent quality, and consistent customer service would go a long way toward improving the overall experience. I hope this feedback is taken constructively because I'd love to see the shop return to the level of quality that made me a regular customer in the first place.
