the water rotted unsafe splintered flooring

Here is the email I sent to customer service when the manager at the Henderson location said she was not with the power to provide any refund. Cruise America customer service offered $73 and a $50 gift card for ruining our once a year family vacation. To Cruise America Customer Service, My husband and I rented an RV this weekend from Friday through Monday (6/27-6/30). We had a terrible experience. The first night was a no-go. After loading the RV for two hours, the rooftop AC stopped working. It was blowing hot air from outside only. My husband spent a long time on the phone with agents trying to reset CGI, but no agent could locate it. The AC worked in the morning, so we figured it was good. But it was not. It was intermittent, at best. It would blow cold temporarily and then just phase out. We sweltered. There was only one working outlet in the whole vehicle above the table. No other outlet worked at all--not outside--not anywhere. The water pump did not work so unless we were fully hooked up at a paying campsite, we were unable to have running water. The toilet smelled so awful it's indescribable. When you flushed the toilet with the lid down, the water would spray forcibly out the sides and wet the floor and surrounding area. It was gross. In the little crevice between the toilet and the shower, there was an accumulation of hair and grime (likely feces, urine, whatever else goes in a toilet) that had obviously never been tended to. What's worse is the one (and only) time I used the kitchen sink to wash dishes at the campground (with their running water hooked up), when I pulled the plug, the stench of sewage, sulfuric and strong, deemed the RV uninhabitable for over an hour. I did not do dishes, wash hands, or use the sink thereafter. The smell was so pervasive that it impacted others and made sitting at the outdoor table embarrassing for my family. The adjacent campsites near to us were gagging and asking what was going on. It was utterly humiliating. The drivability was awful. My husband has a CDL and knows his trucks. Shocks are blown, and the RV barely felt like it safely held the road. Also, the entire cabin above the truck sounded like it would separate and suction back on with every compression. The entire RV sounded like a bucket of loose nails. We are not experts, but it didn't sound like an acceptable or normal RV sound. Internally, magnets did not hold the cupboards shut while driving so they opened and slammed around loudly and our stuff fell out. Sitting as a passenger was quite like being on the hot seat--the floor board and center console were BURNING hot because there is no insulation between the rider and the exhaust running below the boards. It was dangerous, and I had to keep my kids away. The floor on the RV is corroded and water rotted--the floor boards were duct taped together and separated and actually sliced the side of my 2 year old's pinky toe. Although a seemingly minor injury, it ended up ruining our ability to pretty much do anything that required shoes because he would break down crying and refused to walk because of the cut on his pinky toe. He's two, and it was the end of his world. Moreover, we all spent our time trying not to trip over the flooring and hurt ourselves, but it was a 8-10 inch slice in the very middle of the main area that separated more than the depth of my sole of my shoe when either side of the floor was stepped on so we all tripped often. Sand seemed to continually appear from the crack in the floor and that made the rest of the flooring dangerously slippery for our kids. We swept with the provided broom that had a splintering and duct taped handle constantly but the sand was persistent. Flooring was nailed and duct taped indiscriminately pretty much everywhere in the RV. Other things, such as the razor sharp serrated edge of the plastic cover to the handles on the RV door, and the equally sharp and painful serrated edge of the table, or the exposed metal edging that was installed to compensate for some previous problem on the side of the stove that was missing its cover, were painful when touched. It made having kids in the RV an absolute nightmare. We dropped it off today (6/30 around 10:25 am) and the manager at the Las Vegas location did the walk through with us and apologized for our experience and documented all the above. She tried the water pump--it did not work for her either. She saw all of the sharp exposed edges, nails, and the floorboards which had been duct-taped together and separated. We explained the humiliation of the sink draining fiasco. We totally missed out on the first night of this trip and then suffered through the others because of the condition of this RV and that it lacked pretty much all amenities promised. The time, effort, and opportunity to even have a vacation for us is limited, and this ended up destroying our trip. Our young sons went from loving the vacation to begging to go home.

I have always wanted an RV-- I mean, literally since I was 5 years old-- and today I am the proud owner of one. Alex Tawakoli and his team made the process incredibly simple, honest, enjoyable and most importantly....low pressure. It is rare to find good service nowadays, so I was pleasantly surprised to have Alex go well above and beyond my highest expectations to make sure I was happy with my purchase. Not only was he patient answering my every question, he always had a smile on his face and always worked with me to get to yes when it came to my requests. He even had my windshield replaced and had a new furnace installed before I left the lot to make sure the RV was truly flawless. Are you on the fence about buying an RV from Cruise America? You have NOTHING to worry about when you go to Alex and his team. Why spend over a $100k on your RV when you can a solid, simple-to-use, and warrantied unit? In short, go buy an RV from Alex and start enjoying life in a way you never thought possible. THANKS ALEX!!!

It was our 1st RV trip so we didn't know what to expect. Their customer service within the location were all friendly. Raquel took care of us when we picked up and dropped RV. A few RV hiccups but their 24/7 phone assistance truly helped us navigate and guide us in using the RV. It is not for everyone, we had hard time 1st day but got used to the RV life and had a good time.

The videos don't cover all the things that were broken that we had to fix on the way.

the list of defective, missing and inoperable parts was staggering. Dome light that wouldn't turn off. empty water tank. Full gray water tank, 1/3 full black water tank - maybe the sensor is broken also. hot water left in bypass with no way to reach it without navigating and being scraped up with fiberglas. privacy curtains that were ripped from the wall. shower left on full blast - fun when the water was hooked up for the first time. leaking ceiling fan in bath. gray water left so full that none of the drains would drain. called 800 number and were told to pour hit water with detergent down all the drains. here are we supposed to get the hot water. the hot water tank - we finally YouTubed it with injuries only to find that it leaked. The vehicle obviously had severe steering problems and was exhausting to drive. Oh, the sewer hose was 5 ft and couldn't reach anything. And the door holding the short sewer hose in wouldn't stay shut. Had to get tape to shut it - used the same tape to pull fiberglass shards out of our skin. Maybe that's why they chose to leave it full for the next customers. It was a sad trip for us fixing everything along the way. and we got tired of hearing, "rest assured" everything will be ok. but it wasn't ... ever.

Campervans are easy to drive and can fit into any normal-sized parking space. Regarding this company, they provided incredible customer service and a clean, comfortable Campervan. The fold out bed was easy to assemble and the van included a sink, small fridge and storage spaces. Our van was waiting for us when we arrived. We had the option of choosing different bundles: blanket, kitchen items, tent, chairs, basically anything that enhances your outdoor experience. They even had a donation locker where you could take items left by other travelers. We loaded up and we're off on our adventure to Death Valley. We found that this company has several locations in the US, and they will allow for one way travel between their locations. We are now seriously considering planning a cross country trip!

Ice was needed our entire trip to keep anything remotely cold. 2. When you hit the brakes at 55-60 mph or more, the brake pedal vibrated as did the vehicle. 3. The headlights were terrible because the lenses were so sun faded and fogged over. 4. I'm unsure if the shocks were ever changed but every bump on an interstate or rough roads at 65 mph or greater, the van shook pretty bad and wobbled more anything. 4. When rented, I took a picture of the odometer at 598 as the last 3 and they claim it was 587 and charged us for the 11 miles we didn't even drive the vehicle. This is the 2nd time we've used Escape because the first time it was a great experience. This time was not an enjoyable experience and we won't be back. For the price of everything, you'd expect a van in good condition that felt safe as well as being fully functional...we did not get that.

We rented a brand new vehicle with all the bells and whistles and more than enough room to accommodate our group. We could have easily accommodated another two adults and still had room in the common areas. Angie and her team provided a thorough walkthrough of the vehicle upon pickup and was available for communication and assistance throughout the rental period - just a call or text away. Angie was willing to meet me for the drop off and walk through inspection after hours to accommodate my travel schedule. We were able to ship items to the pickup location before our rental for convenience and she even shipped me a few personal items that were left behind by accident after our trip. I highly recommend renting from RV & Boat Rentals Las Vegas and will definitely be renting again in the future. Burning Man specific comments: Competitive pricing for a luxury RV being brought to Burning Man. A playa dust cleaning fee included in your rental agreement ensures you get your security deposit back assuming no other damage caused by driver(s). Angie provides several odds and ends such as painters tape, aluminum foil and floor covering to help combat the elements (heat and dust) you experience at Burning Man and help those living in the RV be as comfortable as possible. I have rented two other vehicles in the past (elsewhere) and nothing is better than renting a modern vehicle when you are going to Burning Man to ensure efficient gas / propone / water usage. Lastly, the fridge / freezer stay cold and the A/C actually pumps cold air throughout the entire vehicle - neither are things that you should take for granted when renting an RV.

The only thing I did not like that they gave me my RV super dirty on the inside. Like they didn't check if it was ready for the next person to use. My mistake was not checking before I left. On the surface it looked clean they even mopped it before we left. When i got home to put all my stuff that's when I found everything. The toilet had old pee around the seat when I lifted it. Under the mattress had crumbs and dirt. I found an old toothbrush under the kitchenette cushions. The cabinets had sticky handles also the stove had residue oil all over it. Like they REALLY did not check. The table was wobbly and I was scared it was going to fall off. The drawers were stuck and at this point I didn't even use them with fear they were going to break. The sensor for the grey water tank was broken, I had to mention it to them that it did not read empty. Like I get it wear and tear but they really did not care about the cleanliness of the RV. The return was smooth-ish the guy said oh just wait here I need to take pictures of the car. I went with him to point out everything wrong with the car instead. Everything is on their phones; even signing the documents and that's kind of odd they should have like a tablet or something bigger so you can see everything better. Just called today to set up our trip and how lucky for me they "updated" there system and any old reservation from 2023 and back are no longer in the system. The trip started fine until we reached the RV park at 12am. No water hoses, sewage lines or TV cable for full hook ups, NOTHING. Next the slide pop out had trouble opening. Next the fridge stopped working and a strong smell of ammonia was coming from it, next the CO2 alarm started going off and never shut off. The alarm was so loud (and rightfully) so the RV park made us leave. We then had to rent a hotel for the duration of our trip. The 1800 roadside service number I called had me on hold for over a hour with finally no one to service us. This all sounds like the worst experience right? Yes, but I was told my account would be noted and a redo trip was appropriate. I didn't want my money back. I wanted exactly what they said they would do. Family trips are not easy and not something we can do every year, but 21 months later and a baby later we decided to have another go at RV'ing. I've rented before from Road Bear and every time we had a issue they solved it, but now with "The new system" I'm screwed? So when you rent from them babysit and double check their work, make sure everything is working and all equipment is ready and if you have any issues just know they will fight you now tooth and nail on their screw up thanks to the "new system". I was told by someone I was clearly bothering that an upper management person would reach out to tell me in a higher paid voice I'm SOL.

This company is awesome, they come from Australia and New Zealand and we are super excited to have…read morea truly affordable rental camper van in the United States! You can rent out different sizes and get an array of gear with them. This is perfect for music festivals, road trips, and for camping in extreme weather. Cooking: In order to cook in the van you will need to get out of the van and turn on the propane tank. It's a good idea to leave the door to the tank open too for extra ventilation. This makes it a bit frustrating when you have to keep going in and out to open and shut the door/turn it on and off but that is campervan life. You will also need to open the top vent(and maybe even the fan) when you are cooking. When you get ready to take off, you will need to shut all the open doors and top vent so it doesn't get caught on anything or taken in the wind. You will need to pay for the propane tank to be refilled or prepay for the tank before you leave. Water: There is a 14 gallon tank on board and we only had to refill it once on our 7 day trip. There is a switch you will need to turn on in order to activate the pump. Make sure you turn it off at night so the pump doesn't freeze! There is not a garbage disposal in the sink so make sure your plates are scraped off before you wash them. Don't put garbage down the sink. It is only cold water for dishes so you will need to boil some water and fill the sink in order to scrub dishes properly. I used the sink for storage of clean and drying dishes when I was travelling too. The gray water tank is 17 gallons so will need to empty it if you refill it at all. You will need to empty the tank when you are done. It is easy pull of a toggle underneath the edge of the van. Food storage: There is plenty of counter space but no way to keep the food from moving around so with the cabinets filled with gear, I had to do some rearranging to get food stored in there too. The fridge was totally big enough for what I needed for my trip(lunch meat, cheese, dips, condiments, beer, and veggies). I even had some ice cream and whiskey in the freezer. It stayed nice and cold due to being run by the solar panels. The microwave is run off external power so you will need to be connected to an electrical outlet in order to use it. The cables are supplied in the van. Sleeping(bottom bed): Sleeping in this campervan was a true luxury. It rained (and snowed) overnight and I stayed nice and comfortable. The Double bed (bottom) was incredibly large, I would say it was as big as my queen bed at home at least. I was able to lay in almost every direction comfortably (i'm 5'6). It was really easy to set up too. Take the table and pole out of the slot and lay the table down between the benches and take the extra boards out from under one of the bench storage spaces to fill in the rest. The rest of the cushions are your back rests for the benches so you just lay those in the middle. It took me about 5 mins to set up my bed fully each night. The cushions were the perfect blend of firm and soft so I was able to toss and turn and stayed sleeping comfortably on all sides. Sleeping(top): This bed packs away and can be used for storage of sleeping gear when not in use too. I kept my bag up there since I didn't use it much since it was just me. This extra bed is perfect for traveling with 3 people but I lasted up here for about 20 mins before I became claustrophobic. I toss and turn at night so sleeping where I could touch the ceiling when I turn over on the bed wouldn't work great for me. For kids, or smaller adults or people that don't move in their sleep, this would be just fine. The cushions were the same as below so they were comfortable. But there isn't a stopper at the end so I could see myself losing part of my cushions to falling below in the middle of the night. It was also a little awkward to get up there too, you have to climb up from the counter and if the bed is already in place, you will need to be a little acrobatic(or nimble) to make it happen easily. Warmth: I will say that the van is not insulated so I did use a small space heater for one night while camping when it got below 20 degrees but otherwise I didn't use it much unless I was spoiling myself to warm up in the morning or before bed.*If you use a space heater, you have to open the top vent or a window for ventilation. The heater in the front cab was quite warm as well, although the heat seemed to come from under the dash instead of the normal air vents. Easy of access: You will need to be going in and out of the van often as there is no bathroom in the van. I found that going out of the back of the van was easier(and faster) than going out of the side door. The handle for the side door to open and close it from the inside was behind the cabinet so it was a bit awkward to reach.

U-HAUL WITH A BED!…read more Ever driven a U-Haul? Imagine one with a bed instead, painted orange, and not red! That's basically travelers autobahn! These vans are fine if you are moving within a city, but taking these old, ~200k mileage vans for a road trip to super remote areas is incredibly risky. Accidents and issues may come up on a road trip, but if you pick such a beaten down van, the probability of you facing an issue gets a lot higher! We made that wrong, cheap, stupid move! I rented their van for Thanksgiving and it pulled a false park on us. False park is when a van rolls off when in park because they are not fully engaged in park. This happened after staying steady in park for 5 mins and then roll off in a blink. They are cheap because they have the trashiest vans in the market. Please go with other companies; they are newer and will make the whole experience better.
