This is a double review. First, I highly recommend this form of traveling to remote destinations. Campervans / RV's are so convenient and allows such flexibility while traveling. Campervans are easy to drive and can fit into any normal-sized parking space. Regarding this company, they provided incredible customer service and a clean, comfortable Campervan. The fold out bed was easy to assemble and the van included a sink, small fridge and storage spaces. Our van was waiting for us when we arrived. We had the option of choosing different bundles: blanket, kitchen items, tent, chairs, basically anything that enhances your outdoor experience. They even had a donation locker where you could take items left by other travelers. We loaded up and we're off on our adventure to Death Valley. We found that this company has several locations in the US, and they will allow for one way travel between their locations. We are now seriously considering planning a cross country trip! read more

Escape Campervans - "Vines" campervan. - Car Rental Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

The van we got had 240K miles on and it was very noticeable it was not maintained. 1. The refrigerator did not work well at all. Ice was needed our entire trip to keep anything remotely cold. 2. When you hit the brakes at 55-60 mph or more, the brake pedal vibrated as did the vehicle. 3. The headlights were terrible because the lenses were so sun faded and fogged over. 4. I'm unsure if the shocks were ever changed but every bump on an interstate or rough roads at 65 mph or greater, the van shook pretty bad and wobbled more anything. 4. When rented, I took a picture of the odometer at 598 as the last 3 and they claim it was 587 and charged us for the 11 miles we didn't even drive the vehicle. This is the 2nd time we've used Escape because the first time it was a great experience. This time was not an enjoyable experience and we won't be back. For the price of everything, you'd expect a van in good condition that felt safe as well as being fully functional...we did not get that. read more

Kerry was an incredible support for our trip through the Mighty Five in Utah! We had everything we needed and discovered the joys of BLM public land during our adventure. It was a fun challenge to hit all five NPs, but we loved every minute. Our van, Skyfire, while older, had an easily convertible bed, a sink, a stove and a refrigerator. We didn't use the stove, but everything else was useful for our trip. We will probably upgrade to a newer model next time but overall were very pleased with our experience. I purchased the campervan rental. Before my trip I had a back injury and my MRI says I have a severe spinal injury. I cancel my trip. The company says they can't give me a refund and cancel but will give me a credit to the account of $250. I signed up through Affirm to make payments. I call them and they say that I have to keep making loan payments of over $1000. I'm broke and going to have to apply for temporary disability and can't work. I feel taken advantage of and I don't even want this freaking campervan anymore. read more

Rented one of the Mavericks for spring break. The 13-year-old van had 389,000 miles on it, had no useable stereo (only outdated CD player and Aux input), the shocks were shot, the transmission sounded like it was going to fall out, and the heater didn't work. The curtains, upholstery, and even the Sun visors were filled with dust. The temperatures on our trip were below freezing and the lack of a heater in the back of the van was a real issue. We paid over $200 a night for this van, and we're expecting much more for the money. read more

i had a blast traveling through Arizona and Utah Solo with the camper van. Because I like soul searching and enjoying beautiful destinations. However, I am not sure if I am going to enjoy Escape Camper-van again. I rented with them in 2018 through their Los Angeles location and it was a blast! They've provided all the information and received phenomenal customer service. Then post Covid and I've decided to rent with Las Vegas location. This time there was this one guy working in the front desk who couldn't care less for both pick up and drop off. So that was number one off thing. Because they brag about excellent customer service, I was expecting someone more friendly and caring. Can you explain why every single thing you add counts as extra in this van? Bedding kit, aux cable, charging cable all of these are very little things that can be easily provided for customers but these guys are charging so much money for each. (Pro Tip: Bring from home, or buy it on your way from gas station it is way cheaper!) I was extremely disappointed when I pulled to sleep and there were no pillows. I believe over the years this company got INSTAGRAM famous and now it is a bit different experience. They are ruining this beautiful supper hip experience with so many small details, that is not worth it. I am big believer that every business deserves to earn every penny for their hard work and effort to make things possible for us, but there is a very skinny line that can be avoided in between being greedy and serving in the best interest of both business and others. Overall, I am so grateful I can go out there and discover amazing destinations and this company making it possible, but will be looking forward to finding another company that deserves good customers! read more

Amazing! We will.never tent camp again after being spoiled by this place. The staff is AMAZING. They are super friendly, def know their stuff and offer all kinds of helpful tips. They go out of their way to recommend stops along your route they think you would enjoy and do a thorough walk through of the van before rental. If you have never driven or used one of these - no big deal. They are easy as pie and the staff is so helpful and on call if there are any issues. I recommend the no worries on vehicle rental policy but don't need much else. This place freaking rocks. We will be renting annually, at least. read more

This was a great little company to have discovered. The guy that checked us in was very knowledgeable about what places to see and about how the van works. Checked everything is in working condition before giving us the keys. Gave us a lot of disclaimers, but we appreciated the honesty so there are no surprises or hidden costs. I have no negative thing to say about the experience and doing business with this company. Only thing I can say to improve the experience is maybe add a few more convenient things to the van, like dishwashing detergent and dish washing foam. Also to check if there is water for the kitchen in the back before giving the van for lease. Just little stuff. I enjoyed every minute in the van and I hope you guys don't lose that helpful easy going vibe! I will definitely consider renting again, if you guys open a location on the east coast as well! read more

I am saddened to say I did not have a good first experience with Escape Campervans, which really is a bummer since I travel often and was excited to see this business in my home town of Denver. I was looking forward to renting them for many trips ahead, and emailed and verbalized my concerns to the company before writing these reviews and never received a response. I rented from the Vegas location and the check in process was chaotic and disorganized at best. Just a ton of people in a waiting room while each check in took a 30 minute time frame or longer. They have everyone show up at the same time and ask for an honor system on who is next. They either need to hire more people(2 people working) or have the vans ready to go. I registered and checked in online to avoid this, but I was still inside for over an hour. Slow!!!! We were the second ones waited on, but there was at least eight groups behind us, so I am sure that took hours. Now to the van. Great space and layout! But the vans were plain junky...and dangerous. Dusty and dingy curtains and seat padding. It wasn't until I reached Death Valley that I realized we were almost down to the rotors on breaks. I pulled into a lookout point and a man in his own camper said, "you just be crazy driving that down these hills". We were three hours into the trip without service. The van wouldn't accelerate quickly and often hit a 5 on the RPM scale which gave me fear of overheating. This was a 8 day road trip, mostly with cell service in and out, and I think it is a travesty that when I reported this, I was told I should have contacted roadside. Sure, that's just what I want to do on vacation. Be in the middle of no where and have to wait or drive to a van replacement site and lose time, time we were already tight on, Isn't this suppose to be stress free? The breaks were so bad we decided to skip Yosemite due to fear of the downhill-adding additional stress since this was the main reason we rented the van and came out in the first place. The company lets you know you can stop and get repairs done and bring a receipt. Why am I repairing your van on vacation? Death Valley and Joshua Tree was hot and guess what, the air conditioner was in and out. The lining around the door fell off the first day of the trip. The engine had a hard 160k on it and it showed. They even gave us a car with a crack in the windshield and I was told it "shouldn't spread". The front desk spent more time explaining how much everything would cost if we broke it(495 dollars for a Coleman grill is a scam) but it is obvious no one is taking a moment to check on the functionality and safety of the vehicles, and if they are, they are failing. I am curious if there are any state laws regarding giving someone a rental car barely functioning. When you plan a road trip, and spend 1000 dollars, you expect a quality product. Instead we got a fancy painted van with a aged engine and squeaky and shaky breaks. When I let the manager know when we parked it, I was told I should have called. Not exactly the answer I expected. Sent an email with no response. I saw many other rental vans on the road that I am sure have a better focus on keeping customers safe and wanting customers to come back. I am just so disappointed and what was suppose to be a once in a lifetime road trip was truly affected by this business. read more

My only advice is for them to upgrade the kitchenware ( pans were highly used and old) The side shelves were super hard to open and got stuck at times so just left them alone. Also, our van had two little cracks in the front windshield & the van smelled faintly like cigarette smoke, they should get the windshield replaced before renting it out to others. Awful experience. Power steering was not working on the van as it should. We had to cut our vacation short and forgo a trip to zion national park because we did not feel comfortable driving through mountains. we ended up cutting our trip short and driving back to Vegas only for us to receive attitude from an employee of the company who insisted there must not be anything wrong with the van if we chose to drive it back to Vegas. Unbelievable . We had no Other choice as their "roadside assistance" was not available to help us until the following day. Van has over 300k miles on it and was giving us problems from the beginning. Company had zero empathy or understanding for the predicament they placed us in. Will not use again. I cannot believe we spent over $800 on this. read more

Rented a van from Escape in LV for three weeks of travel. Van itself was spattered with problems (fridge and solar powered lights didn't work, ceiling leaked) leading to us having to speak to their customer service team multiple times. Customer service team was incredibly rude on all occasions - seriously never spoke to someone helpful. They made the problems with the van all feel like our problems entirely and offered no help given we reached out "on a holiday". Not exactly sure why they thought we could control when the problems with their van happened but regardless I don't think vehicle rental companies get to take the holidays off when customers are having serious issues with their vehicles. Wouldn't rent with them again because of this. Seriously disappointing and added a lot of stress to our trip. read more

It was my first campervan experience but I am now a zealot. I LOVED it - no tent to worry about in the morning, comfortable bed, we could be flexible on our destinations since no hotel reservations, cold beer 24x7 thanks to the solar fridge drawer, we could sleep at remote trail heads and get out before the crowds, hot lunch on the stove when we needed ... Read their website - most info there and gracious when I called to ask questions. We were going to higher elevations so I brought an extra down throw but we would have been fine with the extra blanket we picked up in the office. They have shelves of food left by previous renters and extra blankets and other items to take for free in the office. We parked in national forests for free, sometimes managed to snag a national park campsite reservation and/or first come first served spot (parks are BOOKED - you need an alternative plan) but usually found an RV park near a park gate and enjoyed their warm showers. Recommendations - add the table and a solar shower to your rental package. Nice to sit down for your meal plus many park campgrounds have no shower which got ... smelly. - rent the larger Ford size. It has higher clearance if you want to go into the back country and a king size bed if you have an expected guest (our son did not read the email saying to bring his own tent!) Customer service was great at pick up and drop off, van exactly as promised and everything we needed included in the rental price. read more

My friend and I are heading to the desert SW next week and at the last minute decided to rent a campervan. We googled around and landed here on Escape Campervans. I called the number on the website and spoke to a very lovely gentleman who explained the terms and sent me a quote. After a brief discussion with my friend, we decided to book. THIS IS WHERE THINGS WENT TERRIBLY WRONG. When I first tried to book, the link for the credit card information didn't work. I called back and got bounced around an IVR. Eventually landed speaking with another guy who told me he couldn't help me because he wasn't in reservations. He told me to call back and push 1. THAT'S WHAT I DID, BUDDY AND ENDED UP WITH YOU. I obliged and called back again, and got the same thing, but this third guy told me they would likely decline my reservation. Ummmm.... I literally had just spoken to somebody no more than an hour ago who said we'd be all good. WTF? I eventually got the credit card info to work, but heard crickets. No email, no phone call, nothing. I called back a FOURTH time to confirm and an not so kind Aussie man said I'd likely be decline. This was a complete 180 from my original conversation and this wasn't even 18 hours later. Again, I ask, WTF? Needless to say, my friend and I pulled our reservation request and decided to rent a minivan and do things our own way. The minivan is more than $100 less expensive per day, and while it doesn't come with a kitchenette, it does come with roadside assistance and a reliable company to rent from. read more

We had a blast on our trip. Drove through Death Valley, Grand Canyon, and onto Lake Powell. The Campervan was stocked with most everything you need, and the bed was more comfortable than it looked. Slept very well, in fact. The only reason for the 4 Stars was I felt that the power steering could have been tighter, and it did take a while for the refrigeration drawer to cool down. I can't say enough good things about this company. They have got you completely covered. Pre-trip, they answered all of my specific questions about the vans, explained insurance options, and even retroactively applied discounts when I asked (they started a special on rentals dropping off before the end of March after I booked). The van was absolutely perfect. It felt like they had thought of everything. Solar panels to power the fridge inside, camping chairs included, curtains for sleeping, they even have a small cabinet for people to leave supplies they won't use after their trip. We wanted for nothing during our trip. Sans a can opener they forgot to include in our van (ended up using a rock and a knife, no biggie), we were absolutely covered. They were forgiving when we showed up 20 minutes late to drop off the rental, and forgave the ~$2 we went over on mileage (which covered the can opener they forgot!) The van really felt like home for a week. It was definitely the most expensive part of our trip, but it was worth every penny. I have never been this satisfied with a company, but I cannot recommend Escape Campervans enough!! read more

The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is the poor condition of the vehicle we rented. We had some mechanical problems on the road and the car itself was old and run down. However, they were great at taking care of us, making everything as easy and smooth as possible in getting the car repaired (they arranged everything, told us where to go, and paid for it over the phone). Even the repair shops mentioned how easy they were to work with. And once we returned they refunded us a nice chunk of our rental fee, for the days lost and general inconvenience. We will definitely rent from them again, especially knowing that the model that gave us trouble is being phased out. Great concept and nice people. These vans make road tripping so easy. read more

We rented an Escape Campervan and used a Groupon coupon (before you get a Groupon do some research on if it will actually save costs for you), for spring break. We traveled with two adults and one 10 year old (who slept in the sleeper on top of the van). There was a lot of space and the pull out bed in the van is actually very comfortable. It was our first time traveling like this and we really liked it and will probably do it again. At times it was hard to find camping spots in the area where we traveled (Zion and Bryce) so do some research beforehand. Customer service at Escape Campervans was great. I lost my fitbit in the van, and they made sure to go back and look and actually found it. The week that we traveled in (end of March) was very cold, it was actually freezing and snowing, a bit too cold for the campervan:( But other than that we really recommend Escape Campervans! read more

There were just 2 of us, so we had plenty of room, and space to store everything. The fridge and stove and sink worked great! I would highly recommend booking a trip with escape campervans! Boyfriend and I rented this van for 7 days with unlimited miles. It was the best thing we could have done to explore the national parks. We visited Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands, Dead Horse St. Park, Arches, Upper/Lower Antelopes, Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend, and the Grand Canyon. We loved the fun style of the van and driving it was easy enough. It was home for 7 days and it took us on a 1,650 mi adventure. The customer service of the LV Campervans was exceptional. Mack and his coworker (Aussie lady, can't remember her name) were so super helpful showing us around the van and how everything works. They also have a stash of things campers have left behind so we took some leftover olive oil, salt, toilet paper, etc. Mack also gave us a lantern to use and bring back to him. They lend things out which is nice, since we flew in from NJ and had to buy mostly all of our supplies at Walmart, which gets expensive especially when you have to buy two big coolers, dish soap, paper towels, and other camping supplies. The van was super roomie, and for the long distances (5 hours of driving) one of us would just sleep in the back during the drive. The bed was extremely wide & comfortable. Only qualm I have about the van is it gets HOT. We had to sleep some nights w all doors wide open. Definitely and highly recommend if you are going on a roadtrip. I guess the Las Vegas office of this company is smaller than their California base as there are fewer reviews for this office - and perhaps less selection. We hired a Maverick van plus roof top sleeper for our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers) for 11 nights. The website suggests you can choose your design but we had no choice as we were getting one with a rooftop sleeper and there was only one available. They advertise as budget and this does show in what you get - the van was showing its age. The Maverick didn't have the greatest driving experience - the steering seemed quite wobbly and the van struggled above 60mph, we had a warning light that mysteriously came on for a few days and then disappeared (the manual said this meant it needed servicing), and the tire pressure light showed all the time (we were told that this was because one tire didn't have a pressure gauge - they should have just fitted the right tire). The CD player was broken. The design of the conversion was pretty basic and home-made and didn't make the best use of space compared with UK campervans and the interior was looking a bit tired - but it did the job. The back seats were pretty uncomfortable for sitting on long journeys but made up into a big double bed (you could fit three adults without much discomfort). The kitchen at the back was adequate - again not the best design and no use if it rained - the fridge drawer and stove worked well, but the sink was too high and there was limited kitchen storage (we had to use the worktop for storage which meant things slid around on top and reduced the worktop space). We paid extra for the roof top sleeper. This did not look anything like the design on the photos on their website - it was a Tepui tent. If you get one of these insist on a proper instruction manual - all we had was a poor photocopy of part of the process and the one member of staff in the office made it sound as though it was straightforward. As seasoned tent users we didn't think we would have a problem, however we would have been completely stuck if it wasn't for another person at our first campsite who had experience of this tent and kindly helped us out. This tent is very difficult to set up and put away on the Maverick as the van is quite big. Escape need to provide a step ladder because the only way to set it up and take it down every day is to clamber up on the wheels and stretch across the roof to deal with the straps and zip. Fine if there are 2 people over 6 feet tall but otherwise tricky to use even once we got the hang of the process. The frayed bit of string on the zip puller was not sufficient! The only time it was easy was when we were able to drag a picnic table from our campsite alongside the van and stand on the table! There were supposed to be some poles for the awnings but these were missing - it was still usable but these flapped around a bit when windy. (We discovered when we were picking up the van that the tent is not insured and you have to agree to pay any damage!) Again our instructions on using the water tanks were not adequate. I had to ask about filling the tank, assuming that there was a hose pipe but you have to use containers that aren't provided - you have to buy a couple of large water bottles and then use those. Emptying the grey water tank was OK once you worked out how to do it (the hose is hiding in a separate pipe at the back) and needed two people as one person had to hold the hose on the outlet and the other to hold the other end over the drain, but it would have been easier if we'd had it explained properly. We also paid extra for picnic chairs and table - which we found useful although you could probably manage without as many campgrounds provide picnic tables. One of the chairs had a bit of a repair job that looked like it wouldn't last too long and the picnic table had a bit broken off although it still worked. Having said all this there is very limited choice of campervans in the USA - all the rental companies seem to provide just big RVs which are not suitable for some roads and limit your choice of campsite, as well as being more expensive of course. So if you want a budget option for a road trip and are OK with a reasonably basic experience this company is one of the few choices available in the USA. read more
