My two friends, husband, and I went to Crudo E Nudo last night for dinner, and it was absolutely delicious! We had such a fun evening, and we loved the food. The service was lovely - our waitress couldn't have been nicer. We had the perfect amount of food for 4, and it was a great way to spend the evening. The menu is handwritten on a chalkboard daily, and they recommend you take a picture of it and then sit down and decide what you'll have. It was a cute idea! We ordered several dishes, and they all had such vibrant flavors. I absolutely loved the tuna tartare toast (along with all the tuna dishes) and the rockfish. But everything was really tasty! We also ordered a pouron of wine, which made for such a fun and goofy night with friends. The catch about ordering in the pouron is that the restaurant only allows you to order it if you agree to drink out of the bottle the entire evening. No glasses! I would definitely return, and I'm excited to bring more guests from out of town here. I loved the ambience of their outside deck, and I think many of our friends would love it here! This was a really frustrating and disappointing experience. They asked two of us to wait even though there were plenty of empty tables inside and outside, and we could clearly see multiple servers moving very slowly. After waiting, they casually came back and said they couldn't accommodate us because they were "short-staffed," which made no sense given the empty space and visible staff. The whole situation felt disorganized and unprofessional. Turning customers away like that is just unacceptable. Definitely not a place I'd recommend. read more

Crudo e Nudo is located in Santa Monica and has a relaxed beachy vibe that is fitting for where it is located. They specialize in raw seafood and crudo type of offerings. The menu offers a good variety of items, while the food was enjoyable, we felt that nothing really stood out and justified its pricing. Some of the dishes felt especially hard to justify such as $25 for 2 chocolate clams or $18 for a few bites of scallops. The quality was decent, but nothing truly stood out. During the day, they offer counter service and at dinner hours, they offer table side service. There are no printed menus, however, they do ask you to take a photo of the menus before being seated. This allows you to remember what you would like to order. The experience was underwhelming, and the restroom situation was quite interesting. To access the bathroom, you have to walk through the kitchen. The restroom itself wasn't well maintained and appeared to be used as a storage area with items on the floor etc. It definitely did not make for the experience and felt turned off by it. If you are looking for raw seafood and crudo, there are other spots in the area that may be a better choice. We enjoyed the food, but overall experience, we would probably go back to Si! Such a fun date night spot! Got the chef's tasting menu which ended up being a genuinely massive amount of food that I couldn't even finish so reasonable price all things considered. Everything was good. Favorites of mine included the tuna toast, kanpachi Crudo, and the oysters. We also got a bottle of wine in a pouron for $40 which was hilarious. The patio was lovely. The service was great. We were there for almost 3 hours despite the 90 minute time limit (through no fault of our own). read more

While the taste overall was quite good and they plate things beautifully, I agree that this is definitely overpriced especially given that it gave my parents FOOD POISONING :( I feel like we ordered almost everything on the menu (2 of certain dishes), but no one was full at the end. We had 7 people. We got the Bread and Oil service, Caesar Goes Vegan Salad, Garlic Noodles, Oysters, Prawns, Seared Scallops, Spicy Lobster Gnocchi, Mussels and Tuna Tartare Toast. Taste wise, our favorites were the caesar salad and prawns. The oysters were not good and were actually quite fishy tasting. The celery mash served with the scallops was also meh. Note this place is really small. Their indoors section only fits like 10 people and they can't take large groups indoors either. Unfortunately, due to the price and food poisoning, we will not be returning here. As a seafood lover, I needed to check this place out. The atmosphere is great, especially if you can grab a table outside. The outdoor seating creates a relaxed vibe, although the tables felt a little closer together than I would have preferred. Service was okay, nothing particularly memorable, but nothing negative either. The food itself was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The biggest surprise was the oysters, which were extremely salty and not quite what I was expecting. The gem that is Crudo e Nudo is a must visit! Located on Main Street in Santa Monica, you'd be forgiven to think this may be an overpriced tourist trap. But what you're really getting is a thoughtfully curated, responsibly sourced, and creative seafood based menu in a cozy and home-like environment with excellent and friendly service. We felt very welcomed from the moment we stepped in to the time we left. It was more akin to visiting friends than going out to a restaurant. The service was intimate and friendly without being overbearing. The suggestions were helpful and clearly reflected our preferences. While some of the dishes took longer than expected, overall we don't have any complaints with the extraordinary service. The ambience was cozy and special. The design isn't over the top and fanciful but rather modest, comfy, and intimate. Much like the name, it followed the theme of raw, naked, and unfiltered. Lastly, the food was amazing! They made each ingredient shine. From the tuna tartare toast to the lobster gnocchi, every dish was carefully curated and even the supporting ingredients (like the oil) were high quality and carefully curated to fit. The uni taco bites were to die for. Don't sleep on the secret menu caviar nachos either! Not a single dish disappointed us in any way; you're paying for quality. Found this gem in downtown Santa Monica and let's just say we were very impressed. Started with the crudo trio, lobster, scallops and rock fish. Then we had roasted fish collars and roasted octopus. So many great reviews on this place, had to come check it out, plus we were super sick of Thanksgiving leftovers.... Parking is not easy on Main Street, but behind there is plenty of meters in the lot. Place is very small, four tables inside but a nice setup outside with heat lamps. Warm greeting at the door and explained to look at the blackboard as their menu. It changes often based on what's fresh, in season, etc.. Pretty simple menu and all about fresh fish which was perfect after all that heavy holiday food. Kanpachi - Super fresh and delicious with the perfect amount of pickled onion to not overpower the flavor w/a great yuzu oil We almost ordered another one it was so on point Cioppino Stew - I've had this a few times and it can be too heavy or garlicky; this one was well balanced where the muscles and scallops where the star and not overpowered by other ingredients Just the right amount of bread for dunking Lobster Gnocchi - Talk about a winner! Service was lacking. The menu here feels like one where the waiters need to explain it well, and even though our waiter partially walked through the menu, we still felt confused. Even though it was our first time, it felt like they assumed we would know what things were. They were slow to refill our water and seemed to never notice our empty plates and would not take it away. We also had an empty beer glass and bottle that sat at the edge of the table for a majority of our meal. We got the kanpachi pretty quick after ordering but the uni taco took weirdly long considering how simple the dish is and doesn't require cooking. We waited 50+ minutes for a lukewarm ratatouille and between 60-75 minutes for our main dishes. The ratatouille and tagine were quite salty, with the tagine basically being inedible. Not sure we would come back. The crudo dishes were good but I wouldn't recommend getting their non raw fish dishes. There's a metered parking lot one block west. We ate here Saturday and I have to say the experience was wonderful. I would urge anyone going here to take a moment and appreciate the way the flavors combine in each dish. Each dish has a combination of flavors that you really should take the time to appreciate. The scallops for example have just a hint of asparagus which is perfect but let it happen. The shrimp first looks like shrimp with cocktail sauce but pay attention to the twist in the sauce. There's a spice and a roasted pepper flavor that needs to be appreciated. Same with the oysters. It's all in the little twist and combination of flavors. I think it's worth taking the time to recognize when someone takes the time to thoughtfully prepares food and gets very creative with flavors. We had such a great dinner at Crudo e Nudo. The service was honestly amazing and our server, David, made the whole experience feel really special. He took the time to walk us through the entire menu and helped us choose dishes he thought we'd love, which we really appreciated. Some of the standouts for us were the bluefin tuna, kanpachi, papas bravas, and the garlic noodles. The fish was incredibly fresh and everything was packed with flavor. We even ordered a side of bread just so we could soak up all the amazing olive oil and seasoning from the dishes, which was totally worth it. David also helped us pick out some wines. We told him the types of wine we usually enjoy and he came back with some amazing recommendations that paired perfectly with the food. We ended the meal with their homemade chocolate and almond butter cup, which was such a delicious way to finish everything off. Overall it was just such a lovely night with great food, great wine, and really thoughtful service. If they could tone down the salt, I would have given this place five stars. Everything was good but standouts for me were the tuna tartare toast and the roasted collar. The bread they serve is delicious! I think they would benefit from a good dessert. Also, they have a system where you scan a QR code and pay on your phone, including tip. Dropped in for some happy hour and we were lucky to get fit in. Restaurant is pretty small with about for 2-4 seating tables indoors and a patio just outside. Service was good, waitresses served us quick. We only ordered 1 baked oyster and they made it for us. half order of mussels - the mussels were quite different from what I'm used to. Its a light olive oil based sauce that allows the flavour of the mussels and ocean to be brought out. Would recommend! squid ink fried rice - Another interesting dish. The rice was crispy reminescent of the bottom of a chinese clay pot rice. The squid ink does not provide much flavour, but their chili crisp on top of the rice made it super tasty. Would recommend! Holy cow is the service atrocious. Be prepared to wait an hour for a bread basket. Zero kid friendly items on the menu. Each dish took longer than the one before to come out and there was zero cooking required for the Crudo. The wait staff had a nice time chatting amongst themselves as we waited for tables to be cleaned so we can sit down for our reservation. I ordered a flight of wine and received one of the four wines yet that charge was on the bill. The food actually tastes amazing when we received it but it was severely overshadowed by the horrendous wait staff. There are only about 8 tables and there were 4 servers so the math is not mathing on how the service could be that bad. The kitchen is the size of my powder room so I guess that's where the bottleneck is happening. Don't waste your time here! read more

As seafood-lovers and eco-conscious consumers, we were looking forward to trying out Crudo e Nudo's raw seafood dishes. Our group of four had the first reservation of the day on an overcast Saturday when the restaurant opened at noon. The inside was a lot more narrow than I imagined and had only three seats along the window, whereas the outside area with the wooden deck had seating with actual tables, but still felt rather cramped especially when more patrons arrived. Since it's Santa Monica and they offer outdoor dining, we happily brought our dog to accompany us. Our friend had asked us to join her for lunch here, so we gave her full reins on what to order and she immediately opted for Neptune's Flight which is a 5-course tasting menu selected by the chef including on + off menu items. Price paid the day we visited in the summer was $89/person. Food: * Beverage: Fermensch Kombucha "Bloom" Blueberry Lavender Chamomile. Kombucha came in a can and I think those who don't care for this stuff may enjoy it. I personally liked this a lot because I enjoy the flavors of blueberry and chamomile and thankfully the lavender wasn't too strong. The purple-pink color is especially pretty too. * Crudo: Rockfish, Kanpachi, Uni Taco Bites, Percebes Barnacles (LOL I see why this is an off-menu item - never thought I would ever eat these gnarly barnacles!) The Kanpachi arrived in a shallow pool of calamansi juice and yuzu oil. The Rockfish came drizzled in white soy sauce and a mandarin oil. We all really enjoyed the citrus-based oils. Each of us got about two slices of fish. The Uni Taco Bites did not come in a tortilla, but a sheet of nori. Perhaps I'm being overly critical, but there's nothing about this that makes it a "taco" other than it should be eaten with hands. The Percebes Barnacles are unique in that I've never had this type of barnacle before. My dining mates said this was their least favorite dish. Barnacles had an appearance very similar to little turtle feet. * Vegetarian: Caesar Goes Vegan Usually not one to order Caesar salad, but I do appreciate the generous addition of furikake here. Definitely added more oomph to an otherwise basic salad. * Compositions: Smoked Fish Dip, Caviar Nachos, Squid Ink Fried Rice, Fried Fish Collar The fish dip was good and packed with flavor. Pretty astonished that they used potato chips for their Caviar Nachos. I suppose I expected something else to be used as a base with caviar for this dish. Squid Ink Fried Rice was not the most enjoyable because I didn't care for the "crispy" rice which kept getting stuck in our teeth. The fried fish collar was good. Glad it didn't get overly cooked/burnt. * Dessert: Maple Almond Butter Cup A healthy adult version of the peanut butter cup, but yikes this dessert immediately started melting once we lifted it up. Decadently tasty and I like that it's not super sweet, but it was also very messy and not the most ideal way to end a meal. Such a great experience at this gem on Main! Have been meaning to try this restaurant for a while and finally decided to stop in with my partner. I'd recommend a reservation here in general, but they were able to take us without one that night. We decided to get the tasting menu to make the most of it and the food did not disappoint! We tried so many delicious dishes - oysters, tuna toast, a delicious salad, and fish collar. We enjoyed a nicely paired bottle of wine with our meal. I will say that if you are going to get the tasting menu, be prepared to EAT. We did have to bring some food as they kept sending out more dishes for us. We ended up trying this on a whim since it was part of the Resy/Amex platinum dining credit bonus and are very glad we did. Amazing food - great variety even if you don't eat any crudo or raw fish. We had the bluefin tuna to start, melon salad, squid ink rice, and prawns. Bluefin tuna had a smoky salt on top sitting in this bed of tomato confit sauce (we had to order bread just to not let the delicious sauce go to waste). Melon salad was super fresh with pickled onions. Squid ink rice was extra crispy all over, and the prawns had a nice spice and kick to them. All of it was delicious, unique, with interesting flavors paired together. I was very impressed and definitely will be back. Limited seating inside with a bit more seating outside. I've had my eye on Crudo ever since noticing what looked like delicious, fresh, locally sourced seafood while picking up Sunny Blue's Omusubis next door. I finally had the chance to stop in for lunch with my brother, and Crudo absolutely lived up to -- and exceeded -- expectations! The moment we walked in, we were greeted by Natalia with such warm, positive, and welcoming energy. She guided us through the menu with eloquence and enthusiasm, painting colorful descriptions of each dish. Her service was exceptional from start to finish -- knowledgeable, thoughtful, and attentive. With her knowledge and fluency through the menu...I was blown away when I asked how long she worked there and she said it was her 4th day. She was also light and fun to chat with throughout our experience. She's truly is an absolute gem and a tremendous asset to the Crudo team. Both the food and service were phenomenal. I always walk by this place but I've never had the chance to try it. So when my friend suggested we go for dinner, I hopped at the opportunity. It's a cute little restaurant tucked amongst some others along main street in Santa Monica. It has a very small seating area inside - probably fits 10-12 people max. There is an outdoor patio with heaters, which is where my friend and I sat. They change their menu regularly (daily I think) so at checkin they suggest taking a photo of the one on the wall for easy reading at the table. It's mainly just fish dishes, which all sounded great. My friend and I opted for a lobster dish, blue fin tuna, tuna tartare, and an order of bread. Though we thought we'd probably end up ordering more, this was actually quite filling. The tab came out to about $100. The lobster dish was interesting. I think it was like cooked and chopped lobster mixed with chunks of some kind of citrus. It wasn't super flavorful aside from that sour profile. The citrus seemed to overpower the rest of the flavors. The blue fin tuna was fantastic. It kind of reminded me of a caprese but without the mozzarella. The basil complemented the fish well and it melted In my mouth. My favorite was the tuna tartare. It was mixed with an onion confit and served on toasted bread. I liked the caramelized onion flavor with the tuna. It felt like the heartiest dish we ordered The staff were attentive, and friendly. The other patrons were pretty lowkey and chill as well. Towards then end of the meal a group of obnoxious young women were seated near us - they kind of threw off the vibe on the patio. It had been mostly just couples enjoying a nice evening out, but then it quickly devolved into loud cackling and conversations about inane topics that are better suited for high school lunch tables.
