Santa Monica is great place to visit if you are on vacation or in the area. There are great places to shop, eat and walk and the ocean is right there. The Santa Monica Pier to loads of fun and has fine dinning and cheap eats along with rides and shops. One of the great places to eat is The Albright. We just love it and go whenever we can. Now, parking is in the huge lot at the bottom of the pier for a fee and then there is a lot of walking to get where you want to go. Get ready for that. The area is safe and super pretty. I don't think they take reservations. You can dine there or do take away. If you can eat there it is fun. The place is super cute with lots of tables and it is clean. The service is very good and the servers seem happy. All of their food is great. We love their calamari and get it every time we go. All the seafood is super. Now, this looks like a mid range place, but if has fine dinning prices, but it is worth it because it is all so great and much of it fresh. We love their seafood platter which is snow crab claws, fresh oysters on the half shell, tail on shrimp, Peruvian scallops, green-lipped mussels, mini Mexican shrimp, mignonette, garlic aioli, classic cocktail sauce & lemons. Grilled oysters are hard to find and boy do they make them well. They are 1/2 dozen oysters grilled with garlic butter & parmesan. They even have great fish tacos. We love the grilled Mahi Mahi which is a taco with cabbage, pico de gallo, chipotle lime aioli It comes with white rice & black beans. Everything there is great. Have the best time. read more

Great casual spot with a beautiful pier view! It's self-service, but the food is really good. We tried the lobster roll (photo) and its a best lobster iw ever had. Disclaimer: not pictured was the clam chowder and WOW...10/10. In my opinion, the perfect creaminess and I was impressed with the amount of toppings. We also tried the Mexican shrimp cocktail. This perhaps was the biggest surprise! I'd say the closest comparison is a ceviche-esque dish with shrimp, avocado, bathed in a delicious and refreshing salsa. The fish and chips were solid, I'd say a 7/10. They were good, but lacked a little flavor, even with the tartar sauce. We also ordered the mussels and fries! The mussels were drenched in a white wine sauce and they were delicious!! We're locals in SAMO so The Albright has absolutely been added to our list of local favorites. First time trying The Albright. This restaurant is self-order at the counter, and you can choose to sit inside or outside. We ordered a lobster roll with a side of Caesar salad, two cups of clam chowder, and fish and chips. The clam chowder wasn't the best I've had--it was okay but didn't have much flavor. The rest of the food was pretty average, nothing mind-blowing. One thing to keep in mind: this place charges a 6% surcharge. The food was delicious. We ordered the calamari, connecticut lobster roll, and the half dozen raw oysters. The calamari dipping sauce was a bit spicy but we like the little kick. We enjoyed sitting on the outside dining area with the breeze. To order you order at the stand and they gave us a buzzer when the food is ready and we have to pick it up at the window so service was minimal but I'm okay with that. 2.5. We should have known better than be lured into a tourist restaurant, but the Yelp and Google reviews were good. This place is right on the Santa Monica Pier. Your order at a counter and get a buzzer to let you know your food is done. We decided to sit at picnic tables on the pier to enjoy the sunset. The table was so greasy/sticky. Three out of the four of us ordered fish and chips, one ordered the combo platter. All four also came with a side of coleslaw. The coleslaw was actually decent. Now to the rest of the food. The fries were nothing special. They were thin cut fries with old bay seasoning on them. I didn't enjoy them but the rest thought they were the best part. The fish in the fish and chips was heavily breaded and the folks in my group felt it was very very fishy. I k is a weird thing to say that the fish was fishy, but I hope you can understand that not all fishy has an extremely fishy taste. This did. The tartar sauce was bland. The combo had fish fingers and four shrimp. The shrimp were heavily breaded. The two fish fingers were much better quality than the other fish. One of our group got so grossed out by the fish that they ordered a second meal of chicken fingers just so they didn't go hungry. My wife said give it a 2 or at best a 3. Love coming here every time we come to Santa Monica pier! It is situated near the beginning of the pier, so you do not have to walk far to get quality food for a great price! They have regular seafood options, along with options for those who are vegan. They also were able to sub Cole slaw for my mom with corn so we could not complain! The convenience, efficiency, ambiance and friendly service at this restaurant makes it a place I'd want to visit again and again! You order first, then find a seat for your party. Have visited this place twice now and I enjoyed it both times! Although it's in a tourist spot, I found it to be fairly priced. The menu has a good selection. You can grab a menu while waiting in line to order. They'll give you a buzzer so you can grab a table first and it'll go off when your food is ready. There's a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. I prefer outside :). The fish and chips were good and it was a pretty large portion! I'd also recommend the lobster roll as well. Compared to other establishments, their menu is reasonably priced at $8 for this cup of clam chowder. Additionally, upon pick up, server says they don't have any more spoons but only one... uhhhh. Yes, lots of clams (but quite sandy) and lots of potatoes. I've been eating here for over 30 years, and for the past decade, it's been my New Year's Day tradition to come by just for the clam chowder. We stopped by The Albright after a day of traveling, looking for an authentic seafood spot near the Santa Monica Pier and it did not disappoint! It's the combo I didn't know i needed! I'd probably skip the fried calamari next time, as it didn't have much meat. It's not a table service establishment so you order at the counter and find your seat. My wife and I woke up this morning wanting some seafood so we hopped on the metro and headed to Santa Monica to try a random place. Thanks to pure coincidence, The Albright just so happen to be a place with an appealing menu on the window and that pulled us right in. This place has a ton of seating both inside and outside, a super friendly staff, and a menu full of all the shrimp, lobster, and fish you could possibly desire. I just had to order the mix combo with both fish and chips and breaded shrimp and it's a decision I am very much loving right now. The food took maybe 10 minutes to come out and literally everything I ate was delicious. The French fries were crispy and good, the breaded shrimp was extra crispy and extra good, and the fish was so dang juicy I didn't even have to bite down for it to break apart in my mouth. Overall, The Albright is a top notch seafood joint on the beach and a top notch seafood joint in my heart. The line does get long, but you order your food at the counter and self seat yourself. They will give you a pager after you get your order and that is when you will pick up your food. A casual spot with very positive food. Not as great as what I've had in Montery or Portland, Maine, but it's up there. The lobster roll was jam packed with lobster. No skimmping here.
