We ate here yesterday, a party of 2. We had steamers and a fried seafood plate. Service was very good, the food was good, the prices are fair. my biggest complaint here is the butter for the steamers. We will go back....... read more

Some of these reviews are crazy. People ordering cheesesteaks and chicken parm? What did you expect? This is a seafood place people. The Crows Nest is a destination for the 65+ crowd and there are a ton of elderly regulars. The second you walk in you're greeted by a sea of walkers, wheelchairs, oxygen tanks, etc. The food here is pretty good. It isn't an oyster or Chilean sea bass type of seafood place. Basically they specialize in clam cakes, fish and chips, scallops, calamari ... all kinds of deep fried seafood. I have had the fish and chips here numerous times and it's always good. The lobster salad roll is also really good and it's a pretty large portion of lobster. If you're in the mood for fried seafood this is a good spot and it's a fun laid back experience. read more

Went here for some dinner. Of course, lobster. Place could use a once over with a clean bar rag and a friendlier staff. Maybe I just got seated with the old soldier waitress whom no one could bring themselves to fire. She seemed severely bothered by having to serve my wife and I. But I usually tend to overlook surly staff. I've been there myself and I know it's not all smiles when serving the public. However since I have been there I know that I as a patron, am a dream. I pretty much bus my own table, over tip and do not antagonize the waitperson. So why the waitress was cranky through the entire meal with my wife and myself I can't figure out. In any case, the overpriced lobster meal came. I was particularly excited because I used to have lobster every weekend years prior from a restaurant in Newport Beach, CA and knew what good lobster was and my wife had never had lobster before so I kept telling her she was in for a treat. After all, if anyone should be able to cook lobster right it should be the northeast coast. Let's just say, the cooks here need some training. Just boiling a lobster, throwing it on a plate with some Velveeta cheese on overcooked broccoli on the side doesn't cut it. Have some self respect. The plate screamed 'this is just a paycheck for me' and tasted like a boiled crawdad. Wife ended up sick and throwing up all night because of it, too. Thanks for that. read more

Lobster roll and clam chowder was best I've ever had! Cute little place right on the water. Reasonable prices.

We live not too far away, but have never been to The Crow's Nest til this past Saturday. They don't take reservations unless you have an unusually large party, but they do have a call-in system, whereby you call ahead at 5:00 pm (this was for a Saturday night, and the place was PACKED!) put your name on their list for the time you'd like to arrive, then arrive on time and you will be seated ahead of those who just show up - we had a 15 minute wait, which was totally acceptable. Now, for the important information: Our waitress, Laurie (LS) was perhaps the best waitress I have ever encountered in RI! She was friendly, nice, fast, efficient, helpful and did I say nice and lovely! The place was packed, every table full, and she took the time to comply with every single request, pronto. She even brought one of my lobster claws back to the kitchen to crack for me, when I had a little difficulty. She tied my lobster bib around my neck. They don't come much better than Laurie!! Also important information: The food was fabulous. I can see why the restaurant was packed. I had the lobster dinner and my hubby had a bouillabaisse-type dish chock filled with huge pieces of shellfish, with red sauce, served over linguine. Both meals were fantastic. They came with choice of soup or salad, potato and vegetable. My baked potato was SO perfect - really baked, not microwaved like I usually have at my house! :-). The spinach side dish was so great, I wish I knew how it was made, and my lobster was succulent. Our chowder was delicious - we both ordered the red. I had some of my hub's dinner and I am for sure ordering it next time. I also had a vodka gimlet which was really wonderful and it came with a little extra portion served in a little bottle (which I do not know the name of!) and which I love because it feels like I am getting two drinks!! In summary, I think you can't go wrong dining at The Crow's Nest. Great food, great service, and not too expensive prices. read more

I went to this restaurant last night for my mom's birthday. It is one of her favorites so we gave it a try. First impression was that the atmosphere was super loud. I did not care for the fact that we had to yell to hear each other. When we sat, our waitress was very casual and you could tell she had been there for a long time. When we ordered, she asked about sides and mentioned broccoli au groton. My fiancé said yes but without the cheese - her response was very cocky "So you want steamed broccoli not broccoli au groton". My biggest pet peeve is when a waitress corrects a customer and makes them feel belittled. All she had to say was "Okay". When we got out fried calamari, I did not like the fact that it came with tartar sauce instead of marinara sauce. For a seafood place, I was surprised. I ordered the stuffed chicken for my entree and did not like it at all. It was too dry and bland. The broccoli au groton (with cheese) was amazing though! My mom had a great birthday and thoroughly enjoyed her veal cutlet with gravy (which I stole half because I didn't like mine). I don't think I will be dining here again in the near future :/ read more

We went there many times in the past when I lived in Warwick. Food was good and so was the atmosphere. I don't live in Warwick any longer and was looking for a seafood dinner before I left and went home. I decided to go the whole nine yards and ordered a whole stuffed lobster. (By the way I have had lobster many times at other places.) There was a burning smell and I kiddingly said it was probably my lobster. When the lobster was brought out the claws were blackened and could not be crushed with the nutcracker. The tail was unable to be chewed (over cooked). They couldn't even crack the claws. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed. They replaced it with baked scrod which was excellent. They should never have served me that horrible burned lobster. read more

I've been looking for a nice family style restaurant preferably on or near the water to have lobster, year round. I believe just after one visit to the Crow's Nest this might be that restaurant! We enjoyed a lobster lunch on a Monday recently with my brother from out of town. The service was wonderful! The lobster - perfect. Plenty choices of sides. I never eat corn on the cob that accompanies the lobster and here I ordered the broccoli and rice as my sides and I ate them both. The steamers were not sandy and cooked in a garlic, white wine broth. I also tried the red clam chowder and enjoyed it. The white was good as well! The view is of a marina, ducks swimming near the boats all and all a very pleasant area. Parking is a private lot. We ate in the large dinning room, nautical was the theme from pictures of boats to shell garland placed in plants. I did notice a large bar area off to the left as we entered the dinning room, I will check that out next time. read more

Went to Crows Nest for the first time since the renovations and new ownership. Highly disappointed in the food. Not anywhere near as good as it was before. Had lobster roll that was tasteless and scanty. The fries were extra batter or extra fried, not what they used to be. The clam cakes were tasteless. All of those same foods I have had with the old Crows Nest and they tasted excellent. Won't be a customer of Crows Nest again, unless they make big changes and advertise their newer and better menu. I don't see this establishment making it as time goes on. read more

Strolled in for the first lobster roll of the season (and my first time here) on an April Saturday at about 7:30. Walked I. To a full waiting area filled mostly with the 'blue hair' crowd and a 30+ minute wait. I peeked into the very full bar just to find one couple getting up and we snagged the only open seats. At this point I was ready to embrace the slightly older (those are gentle words) scene for this well anticipated lobster roll! Warm buns and a fresh salad later, the she came...loaded to the brim on more of a small grinder roll (not a hot dog bun) and lightly mayoed I enjoyed several large chunks of fresh lobster and left filled to the brim. And get this, the stuffed lobster roll is only $15.95 - cant beat it! Nothing fancy but good food and fresh lobster rolls and who knows what else. Not a bad mid summer joint away from the traditional stomping grounds! read more

Just stopped by for lunch and what a treat! Four of us ate. I had a burger and potato salad, two had clam cakes and chowder, and one had salmon... ALL were delicious, the portions (tho' "small lunch size" were more like dinner size) and extremely reasonable in price. Drinks were also 25% cheaper than most anywhere else. Even better than all that was our server, Malik!! Had to stop and tell the manager how awesome he is. I WILL be back!! read more

Carolyn my server was a 5! The owner I met, Laurie truly cares. The menu is voluptuous with options and the sea food is fresh. Oh and the value is superb. It's casual, but comfortable. read more

We live in the area, and have never had a bad meal here. We always get the 5 baked stuffed shrimp and share it- my bf eats 3 and I eat 2 and we are stuffed. The service is always polite and efficient, and they always split the meal for us before they bring it out, which I think is very nice. They never look down their noses at us because we share a meal. Yes, there's a lot of old people that eat here, but who cares? I'm there to eat, not to look at who's there! This is Warwick, not downtown Boston. And you have to figure if there's so many senior citizens, it must be a good value, because old folks do not like to pay a lot for anything (actually I think they have a special senior citizen menu/discount or something). Anyway, like I said, consistently good food and good service. read more

Seafood was fresh, the broiled scrod, calamari, and the fried scallops and clams were delicious. The portions are plentiful with soup or salad that comes with every meal. Our server, Vanessa, was very attentive and recommended dinners based on what we were looking for. The decor is very old just like the clientele but if you are looking for good food and great service it is worth it. We went on a Sunday night around 6pm and there was no wait (I know others have said there is always a wait so maybe that time is good as the old people eat early on a Sunday) read more

This place was the most disappointing thing since i almost killed my dad skiing and to be completely honest i would have rather experienced that again then eat this cold lobster. The lobster was more cold then a cooler on a ski mountain, i have ate ice hotter than that. I bet they pulled this lobster from antarctic waters and put it on a plate. When we said it was cold they came back with it ran under hot water. i have no idea how this is possible it is to be that bad of chef it might even be a superpower to be that bad at cooking and along side the cold lobster it wasn't even seasoned. For $55 a lobster that was cold unseasoned and tasted worse than dog food i wouldn't come here if my life depended on it. I would eat a brick over this cold unseasoned lobster. They offered us free dessert but we couldn't stand being in that joke of a restaurant one more second. Don't come here please and if you do please i'm begging you don't order their overpriced janky lobster. read more

Ambiance: 2 stars; Food quality 4 stars; portion size: 5 stars. As you drive down the little road leading to this place you will wonder if you made a mistake! I was not sure I wanted to get out of the car. The place itself looks OK, but the neighborhood and unpaved parking lot are off putting. I went in anyway. Most of the reviews talk about the seafood, but I had the chicken parmigiana with pasta and a side salad. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The tomato sauce was rich and thick. The salad had two kinds of lettuce plus carrots, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and croutons. All in all a very good meal. And the portions we're huge! Easily two meals worth. So, for the price, a good deal. Service was fast and friendly. Perhaps a bit too friendly. I have no been "honey"ed so much since I left Georgia! A big negative... Too much plastic! The "doggie bag" was a plastic bowl with a plastic lid in a plastic bag! Come on folks, we really need to reduce plastic use! read more

Wouldn't pick up the phone, never even got to order. Place has gone down hill past few months

Have a very serious surgery coming up so my brother decided to take me for some of my favorite food beforehand as it will be a long time before I will eat normal again. As someone who grew up eating right out of the ocean and specifically appounag cove we choose to eat at the Crows nest....what a great choice it was. The clams were tender whole belly and deep fried butterfly shrimp...nice and crunchy...the fish was excellent but that red chowder was absolutely fantastic....just like I remember as a kid....the hot rolls were fresh and melted the butter right on them.....the best part of my meal was not even the food....it was our server... Dino, he was funny and happy to be doing his job.....he was warm and felt familiar....mostly he was kind....he understood why I was there and made me feel awesome to be sharing that time and memories with him. I'd go back for the food....but I'd ask for Dino next time too... read more

Crows Nest - Best seafood platter but even better was our waiter Dino....I'll go back just for him - Seafood Near Me - Warwick, Rhode Island

Very good seafood, traveled to the area on business, decided to try this place. Service was fantastic, very wide selection on menu, pricing was very reasonable and food was awesome. Highly recommend this place, will definitely return when I'm back in the area. read more

Cool place! The clam chowder was tasty but a bit heavier than I generally like. My baked scrod was very good but my side of spinach au gratin wasn't. The spinach was not only topped with the same cracker crumbs as my scrod but I was hard pressed to actually find the spinach. Overall, a good meal but definitely not the best I had on my trip to Rhode Island. read more

Called in an order around 5:45 to pick up at 6:15 for our plans to eat in the boat, we been there before few times. here are my notes on this place: 1- Next to the marina, good parking, not a big view though 2- Food always good, especially summer like seafood. Hot and good. 3- went in to pick up our food and the lady that works the hostess stand, just not a happy person, no smiles, not friendly, not excited. A young female worker was in charge of getting my food which was all good, for about 5 minutes late, no problem though for hot food, she packed everything very well, utensils and all. The unhappy hostess, she was nice to other older folks coming in, but generally unhappy with no smile, wrong person to be in this role. 4- Food was great. Got to boat, well packed, plenty of napkins and utensils. I am not very patient for unhappy service. read more

In my last review i couldnt say anything better about this olace the last two times i went to this resturant i noticed the food has changed and not for the better. I asked both times has the chef changed i was told yes. The food quality and serving side just isnt the same. I was told my intuition was correct. The portion and food quality is very poor now what can i say i have been going there since a small boy. I will have those memeoriesany how. I wont be going back read more

Service was great, however if you aren't a seafood person, this might not be the place for you. I've come here on and off for decades.Typically, a good meal and service.. tonite ... not so much..restaurant was not to busy, ordered steamers and a cup of chowder.. food came right away... very good quality ... I ordered pasta w red clam sauce, my wife schrod and double veggies.. The server seemed a bit inattentive.. the meal took forever to come out of the kitchen. When questioned, the server said there was a big party in the other room and the kitchen was very busy. Finally the food came. My wife's meal was superb and even had fresh veggies! My meal was bland, the sauce watery and tasteless. The pasta was rubbery.. Our tip reflected the meal..below average (and we typically tip very very well)! On our way out I glanced into the other dining room to eyeball the "big party"..There was none.. restaurant was about 40% full.. Quite disappointed in the experience... Will I return to this restaurant .. Sure. But not right away.. why go back you may ask? Because it's The Crow's Nest.. that's why! Their reputation gets them a pass on this unfortunate experience. After hearing from the owner (via a reply), I ve decided to change my review to a 4 star.. btw.. I sat at a table in the bar that evening around 5 pm and the restaurant was not that busy .. read more

I've lived in RI on more than one occasion over Twenty years and didn't know this place existed!! It can't be seen from the street (Post Road), and there is a sign about the size of a sheet of paper indicating its presence, but it's more like a you-have-to-know where it is place since there is no visible advertising. Once found, I was delighted to see a very well-appointed dining room with a friendly, welcoming staff. I thoroughly enjoyed the chowder and clam cakes (bowl of chowder and 3 cakes, $7), and although I also had steamers, I found them way overpriced at $15.95. That's just another lesson-learned about ordering anything billed at "market price". I might have expected to pay half as much. I encourage anyone to visit the Crows Nest. Since this was a Lenten Friday, getting there at about 5:30 was key. By the time I left, people were "hanging out the door." read more

I don't know how this restaurant got 4 Star RED rating!!! This was the worst seafood that I've had in a very long time. I ordered the baked seafood dish which had more stuffing than you could imagine. If the stuffing was good ,that would be a different story. The stuffie tasted like all bread and NO clams. I would not recommend this restaurant. The best part of the dinner was the wine we ordered! read more

The most I would give this experience is a 3. The pricing is outrageous for seafood. I've gotten better seafood in Narragansett and other places like Chelos, George, iggys better and cheaper. The service was ok at beginning but we had to track someone down for a soda refill and they never came back after bringing the meal. It has gone down hill for sure. I've been there many times in past but between the new much higher pricing for what you get will keep me away. read more

This is a very solid seafood restaurant. Unassuming and cozy atmosphere with excellent service. Went on Monday with my parents...they both had the baked stuffed shrimp and I had the shrimp and scallops scampi over rice. Food was fantastic as was our server. Cudos to him and the kitchen. Will definitely be coming back for another visit...it's now on my "go to" list. I have heard that the weekends tend to be crowded for dinner...for obvious reasons...so weekdays are probably your best bet. Don't miss this hidden jem!!! read more

As visitors from Colorado, we were looking for a place where we could have a giant lobster lunch. Due to some unique circumstances with the weather as it was the day after a recent nor'easter in New England, we were driving back to Boston from the Mohegan Sun and were looking for a place that had indoor seating and overlooked the water and served Lobster, even though its is off season for lobster. We found the Crow's Nest in Warwick. The food/lobster was excellent and we even had quite a variety of other tempting seafood dishes to choose from. The staff was friendly and brought our orders quickly. We found out afterward, the restaurant was running on generator power as the storm knocked out power to the area the day before which makes the fact the food was fresh, flavorful and warm, drinks were cold and everyone was still smiling, including other patrons. BRAVO! read more

Very good seafood at reasonable prices. Mixed drinks were okay. Try the steamers or fresh fish specials. Didn't love the New England chowder, & surprised they don't have Rhode Island chowder. Good place overall! read more

Just love the fact that the portions are so big, it becomes two meals! Place is always busy, but service is strong. The only knock, and it's nit picky... is that the bar regulars are loud and a tad obnoxious. Not offensive, just like to hear them selves talk. read more

Just too funny. This is a place of extremes. Extremely young groups, or not so much. Extremely good food and service, welcoming 'hello' when you walk through the door....not so much. All in all, I really like this place. It is off the main drag, it is where locals go and it is great food with great prices. They really make sure those that may be on a fixed income are taken care of. The service at the table was fantastic and friendly. Calamari app was great. Steamers were excellent. Fish and chips were better than expected. So if you are looking for good food at a great place, this is the stop. Only warning - go early. We went at 5:30 and were seated quickly. When we left at 7:00, people out the door waiting to get. read more

I never think to myself, man, I need to go back to the Crow's Nest, but when you are in need of a Lobster Roll (and that happens, often for me, during the summer) and the wait at Chelos by the Water is 45 minutes this would be my second choice. The Crow's Nest has been in business for what feels like forever. It is off the beaten path so it is kind of a not so hidden treasure. The decor is a bit out dated and the service tends to be a bit slow, however it is friendly and the food is fresh. The restaurant, most like a Greggs, seems to cater to an older crowd. I wish there was some outdoor seating to take advantage of their view, alas you are lucky to get a window seat. The prices are comparable to most other seafood restaurants. Overall, I would say there is nothing great about the Crow's Nest, but nothing to WOW you either. read more

Good scallops and the best stuffies around. Being just a bock and a half away from family this is one of those "Hey while we're here" places. I'm not enitrely sure I'd make the 30 minute drive from home to come here specifically, but if I'm in the area, then I'm probably going to stop. Tucked out of the way in Apanaug and nestled up against a boat stoage yard the Crow's nest is a solid seafood place with the extra ambiance of being so close to the water and seafaring things. You'll wait if you come for dinner or during a busy lunch rush, but it's almost always worth it. I've never had a bad meal here, but I can' say I've ever had a fantastic one here. Consistently high quality dishes are what the Crow's nest does best. With prices that make dinner a good value for the buck. The stuffies are the one consistent stand out each time I come. They're a mandatory purchase in my book. Some may argue they should have some heat to them, but as someone who still feels quality food is about rich flavors and textures and not simply how much pepper can be used to mask the absence of these things, these are close to perfect. So yes, if you're in the are by all means go. It's worth the wait. If you know you're going to be in the area and want to try it out, use their call ahead seating. Once your entire party arrives you're moved ahead of walk in customers. read more

First things you notice when you get here: 1. The menus look cool. 2. There are a ton of old people here. This is like an old folks' regular spot. I was probably the youngest in the room at 23. But, the food was excellent, even though the old white ladies next to me were laughing at me for taking pictures of the food. Don't be hatin! We started with the Steamers appetizer. It was like $15 for a HUGE serving of longneck steamed clams. It comes with a cup of the clam's juices and a cup of melted butter to dip it. An amazing dish. Tons of clams which tasted fresh and springy. We were satisfied with ordering one for 3 people. I got a 1/2 lobster roll and a cup of clam chowder. Lobster roll came with potato salad which I could tell was made in house. Potatoes felt like they were just prepped, but it wasn't creamy enough for me. I like my potato salad to taste like I'm doing my health a disservice by eating it! This potato salad was too healthy tasting. You can tell the clam chowder is made with fresh ingredients. It's a very thick chowder and I kinda got full just by eating half of it. My mom got the Steak Oleo, which was a fatty cut of steak that had the top sliced and topped with garlic butter. The garlic butter's supposed to seep into the meat as it cooks. Her first one came out well-done so we sent it back. Still wasn't that great when we got a new cut, but it's our fault for getting steak at a seafood joint. Lesson learned. My dad got the lobster. Very fresh. Meat was large and succulent. Most entrees come with choice of soup or salad and you get to pick your sides as well. For dessert we got the chocolate ice cream parfait. I was stuffed already but I unlocked my second stomach that's reserved for dessert. They have a large selection of sugar-free desserts here so my dad (who fears diabetes) was excited to try their dessert. I usually hate sugar-free anything, but I gotta say their ice cream was pretty good. None of the crappy sugar-free aftertaste. Icing on the cake: You can order wine by the bottle. My rents got a bottle of Pinot Grigio for $15. Now if that ain't a deal, I dunno what is. Our waiter was attentive and had a cool accent. Come eat if you're staying near TF Green Airport or if you like eating good food around old folks. read more
