Seafood history and lighthouses The Crow's Nest has been around for a long time and it's easy to see why. Tucked a way off of Rt 1, it's not easy to find if you don't know the area but it is definitely worth the effort. It looks rather plain from the outside with some limited views of the cove but the inside is actually quite spacious with a nice bar and several rooms. The table are nicely spaced so you aren't eating with someone's elbows in your face. The menu emphasizes seafood but there are other dishes too. Items change on the menu with the seasons and availability. The food was good but then there are lots of good seafood places in Rhode Island so nothing really stood out. The prices are portions were quite reasonable and our server was very friendly and efficient without being intrusive. One of the things I enjoyed best about the restaurant was the décor. Lots of great lighthouse photos hanging on the walls as well as some very cool, old and historic scenes of the area from the past. The Crow's Nest is a cool, sort of an out of the way place that is pleasant, quaint, reasonably priced and has good food. Hands down one of my favorite go to places for a Lobsta roll! The Lobsta is sweet, tender, fresh and tasty. The roll is buttery and warm. The portion is very reasonable and worth the $21.95. The roll also comes with one side. Their white clam chowder is also delicious. Thick, creamy, full of clams and full of flavor. I have to come here at least once a year. Yes, it is an older crowd but that shouldn't stop you from checking this place out. The food is totally worth it! read more

This is a 3.5 star review. I've been here a few times and each time, the lobster was succulent and oh so scrumptiously plump. I would have given this place a 4.5 star review had it not been for the service. Our server was not very nice nor was she attentive at all. I understand that it was valentines' day and that it was super busy there, but that doesn't excuse her from being that way. We had to ask her for extra table settings three times before she even thought about getting them for us. Other than the service, I absolutely love this place. It's very scenic as well with boats, waters, and green encompassing the restaurant. It is a bit out in the middle of nowhere, but you usually find the best stuff off the beaten path. The lobster is always fresh, meaty, and cooked just right. There's always a whole lot of meat too and not just the tail or claws. If you're ever in Providence or Boston, stop by. read more

Small local place on the water in Warwick, RI. Recommended by the desk clerk at the hotel. Not a place I would have found on my own. Based on the recommendation and some of the reviews I had high expectations for this place. I'm not sure what has been wrong with me the last few weeks, but my food selections have just proven poor. I ordered the seafood platter, and I should have known better because it was all fried. I don't eat a lot of deep fried food, but the people next to me had it, and it smelled so good. I started with the New England Clam Chowda. This was the dish that the girl at the hotel said was to die for. It was thick and creamy, but I probably saw maybe 1 tiny clam in the whole bowl. Mostly a bowl of diced under done potatoes. I ended up having to use Tabasco sauce to give it any flavor. The seafood platter was cod, shrimp, bay scallops and clam strips. The greasiest thing that I have attempted to eat in the last five years. I love fish and chips, so I figured that at least the cod would be good. How they got the inside so mushy I will never know. You couldn't even cut it, it just mushed out of the coating onto the plate. Pretty much the same for the rest of the food. If this is what they consider great seafood in Rhode Island, give me CA anytime. If not for the atmosphere, location and friendly service this would have been one star. read more

I've been in Miami since 1993 and The Crow's Nest has always been my first stop upon landing. I was in such anticipation of having my very favorite New England Specialtyf - Fried clams! - Always amazing at the Crow's Nest. First I was surprised to see the price went from $17 to $29. But I didn't care - I knew they'd be worth it!!! However - They were horrible - They were very small - They were overcooked - The batter had a burnt taste - the clams were tuff and rubbery - The French fries were not the natural potato, instead, they were the coated potato (the ones which have a longer life under the heat lamps but taste hideous). My dining companion had the Fish and chips. The fish most certainly was previously frozen, which caused the inside of the batter to be gooey and slimy. As well, the fish was mushy and also served with those horrendous coated French fries! After a terrible meal, I thought I'd at least satisfy myself with the amazing Grape-nut Pudding - Only to find that they no longer serve this. Service, on the other hand, was kind, friendly, and efficient - as it always had been. STAY AWAY! read more

We were up in Providence, at Hall's on Broadway and started talking about dinner spots with the owner and this was her number one recommendation for simple, local fresh seafood and we are so glad we followed her advice! The entrees all come with a choice of soup, chowder or salad. The New England clam chowder was a very good example-creamy, clamy, chunky. We had broiled swordfish with garlic butter & broccoli gratin and fried clams. All were great sized portions of obviously fresh seafood, simply made with all the flavor shining through. The atmosphere is old school (we were the youngest people in the place!), but we loved admiring the photos of lighthouses. And there is even a view if the water. The Crow's Nest will leave you wanting more; although the food was good, I was not impressed enough to consider returning. The menu is dominated by seafood, and the portion sizes are reasonable considering the $15-18 price range for most entrees. Personally, I felt each menu item was slightly overpriced, but business is booming for this little restaurant, so they won't be coming down anytime soon. We were hungry, so we set out for an early dinner, arriving around 5:15 PM and both parking lots were nearly full. There is a very large older crowd that seems to come early, for the restaurant cleared out by the time we left. The food came out in a reasonable time after the order was placed, but service was slow and inattentive otherwise. Our waitress seemed slow to take our order and slow to bring the check. I ordered the Seafood Sauté which was pretty good; it had a large variety of seafood. I expected it to come with an Alfredo-based sauce, rather than the thin white sauce that it came with. The white sauce seemed to compliment the fish well, but the pasta tastes very plain by comparison. It was served with a cup of chowder, which was delicious, and dinner rolls were also brought to the table. This used to be a favorite restaurant and we were looking forward to coming again when it reopened. The staff seemed disinterested in actually serving the guests. There were 5 other tables besides us (all 2 tops) and it was not crowded, so I'm not sure why it took SO long for our drinks and then the food. The menu is much smaller, the prices much higher & the service is pretty much non-existent. The bar tender has NO interest in helping and after giving me my drink, never even came back to see if we wanted another drink or anything else-not even a thank you when we left. Not what it used to be since re-opening under new ownership. This used to be one of the best places in RI for fried whole belly clams and lobster rolls. Not anymore. At our most recent visit (and we won't be returning) the clams were small and chewy, and the lobster roll was overly salty and not that big for $29. The butternut squash was underwhelming, and even the dinner rolls weren't warm and fresh like they used to be. It's a shame that we're unable to return to the Crow's Nest we fondly remember--one with great New England charm and such a long history of providing quality food at a good price. read more

Went out for dinner and the hotel I was staying at recommend eating here. They said it was a local spot which is all I eat at when I travel. (Well at least the first few times until I know the area lol) service was ok. The lady serving me didn't seem that into wanting to be there. Other than that the food came out quick w/o any issues. Long long wait, but worth it. Mostly. I visited the Crow's Nest with my parents on a Sunday evening. We called several hours ahead for 7pm, but still had to wait outside for over half an hour past our reservation. We were seated at one of the tables near the bar, which was unfortunate because it was very loud, and bar patrons kept hovering extremely close to our table, to the point where one attempted to lean against our chairs. The food was delicious (although the mashed potatoes were definitely made from instant flakes) and came out in a reasonable time given how busy it was, but the noise and the bar patrons ruined it. Overall, if you can go when it's not busy or can get a more private table, it's a superb experience. Sadly, the other patrons are the downfall here, not the restaurant. read more

We ordered the baked stuffed lobster and were really looking forward to eating them. They were large, but that was the only thing going for them. The seafood stuffing was made from canned shrimp and imitation crab meat! Pretty disgusting, but the worst part was that the tails were half raw, inedible. Our dinners with 2 glasses of wine came to $170! And we couldn't even eat them. In the end I brought them home, cleaned them out and gave them to my chickens. They at least loved the meal. read more

We had a wonderful waitress who was especially attentive to the fact that my two year old came along. She also did what most waitresses don't and held our dinner order until after we finished our appetizer so that we would have a little space between courses! It was quiet when we went to lunch, but the nachos were fantastic, the clam chowder was okay. There were more potatoes than clam but at least it was creamy and good. And I had the boiled lobster, which was very well-presented but it did not have all the meat included. However, it was less of a mess because they cut some of it up for you. We came upon the Crow's Nest almost by chance this evening. My wife and I live part time in the Warwick area and we are still getting to know some of the restaurants in the area. The Crow's Nest features a very pleasant setting across from a marina with both indoor spaces festooned with aquariums, as well as outdoor seating, and a large outdoor bar area. We were incredibly pleasantly surprised with our experience here. We did not have a reservation but the Hostess seated us within two minutes at a table outside, which was our preference. The wait staff was superb and the drinks were inventive and beautifully made. We can't say enough good things about the food. The Portuguese stuffy's and the grilled tuna are not to be missed. The lobster ravioli was among the best versions of this dish that I've ever had. The overall vibe is terrific, and the service was fantastic from the hostess all the way through to the wait staff. we were totally happy with our experience and we will be back read more
