Chose the Crows Nest specifically for the outdoor seating near the water. I submitted a reservation online in the morning to ensure I could get a spot for dinner. Arrived ten mins before my reserved time and checked in. At that time I was told it would be a few mins. Ten mins after my reservation time passed and I watched multiple parties walk in and get seated I asked how much longer and at that time I was informed there was no outdoor seating for me. Two larger parties called in and since my reservation was placed online they bumped me. I wish I was informed when they realized they doubled booked me and I could have made alternative plans for another place with outdoor seating. Instead they waited until I was already there and waited ten minutes pass my reservation time. Our server Junior was friendly and attentive. Food was nothing to write home about and we discovered most dishes were made with mayonnaise which is a food allergy for my husband. Doesn't live up to the hype and not worth the hassle. read more

My first visit since the reopening. They have redecorated with their flare, clean looking. Staff was friendly. We sat at the bar which was half full, tables were full in the bar area and we found it to be terribly noisy, so much so that you couldn't hear the person next to you without tipping your head in. There is nothing to absorb the noise. The new owners are seasoned and should know this. I had chicken piccata which came with a half a pound of pasta and two tiny pieces of chicken for $23. The capers were missing. The fish and chips were good and ample. I will give it another try and hope for a more positive experience. Many happy memories there. read more

I went in yesterday to get stuffed lobsters with my daughter and her friend and we did not like them to the point we had to return them and get a different dish which we did not like either, I believe the new taste has to do with the new ownership because in the past I had the stuffed lobster and was highly satisfied. read more

Our first visit since the re-opening. Very welcoming, good menu and good food...the salad and veggie side were so fresh! I appreciate that they now take reservations, and , Gabriella, our waitress, was excellent. The renovations did a good job of keeping the feeling of a clam shack, while making everything new and clean. My only observation for improvement would be that the acoustics are still noisy when the restaurant is full...not sure how you would change it, though, with the high ceilings. Excellent restaurant. Appropriate atmosphere for a waterfront place. Music that was in the background was at a perfect level. I can't stand music that's too loud. Food is top notch. We've been a few times and ordered different items from the menu and haven't been disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised how good the fish tacos were. When I think of tacos, fish is the last thing I would think of but they were prepared with ingredients that were nicely balanced. As for our server, Kris, she was a delight. Seafood history and lighthouses The Crow's Nest has been around for a long time and it's easy to see why. Tucked a way off of Rt 1, it's not easy to find if you don't know the area but it is definitely worth the effort. It looks rather plain from the outside with some limited views of the cove but the inside is actually quite spacious with a nice bar and several rooms. The table are nicely spaced so you aren't eating with someone's elbows in your face. The menu emphasizes seafood but there are other dishes too. Items change on the menu with the seasons and availability. The food was good but then there are lots of good seafood places in Rhode Island so nothing really stood out. The prices are portions were quite reasonable and our server was very friendly and efficient without being intrusive. One of the things I enjoyed best about the restaurant was the décor. Lots of great lighthouse photos hanging on the walls as well as some very cool, old and historic scenes of the area from the past. The Crow's Nest is a cool, sort of an out of the way place that is pleasant, quaint, reasonably priced and has good food. This is a 3.5 star review. I've been here a few times and each time, the lobster was succulent and oh so scrumptiously plump. I would have given this place a 4.5 star review had it not been for the service. Our server was not very nice nor was she attentive at all. I understand that it was valentines' day and that it was super busy there, but that doesn't excuse her from being that way. We had to ask her for extra table settings three times before she even thought about getting them for us. Other than the service, I absolutely love this place. It's very scenic as well with boats, waters, and green encompassing the restaurant. It is a bit out in the middle of nowhere, but you usually find the best stuff off the beaten path. The lobster is always fresh, meaty, and cooked just right. There's always a whole lot of meat too and not just the tail or claws. If you're ever in Providence or Boston, stop by. read more

Small local place on the water in Warwick, RI. Recommended by the desk clerk at the hotel. Not a place I would have found on my own. Based on the recommendation and some of the reviews I had high expectations for this place. I'm not sure what has been wrong with me the last few weeks, but my food selections have just proven poor. I ordered the seafood platter, and I should have known better because it was all fried. I don't eat a lot of deep fried food, but the people next to me had it, and it smelled so good. I started with the New England Clam Chowda. This was the dish that the girl at the hotel said was to die for. It was thick and creamy, but I probably saw maybe 1 tiny clam in the whole bowl. Mostly a bowl of diced under done potatoes. I ended up having to use Tabasco sauce to give it any flavor. The seafood platter was cod, shrimp, bay scallops and clam strips. The greasiest thing that I have attempted to eat in the last five years. I love fish and chips, so I figured that at least the cod would be good. How they got the inside so mushy I will never know. You couldn't even cut it, it just mushed out of the coating onto the plate. Pretty much the same for the rest of the food. If this is what they consider great seafood in Rhode Island, give me CA anytime. If not for the atmosphere, location and friendly service this would have been one star. read more

We were up in Providence, at Hall's on Broadway and started talking about dinner spots with the owner and this was her number one recommendation for simple, local fresh seafood and we are so glad we followed her advice! The entrees all come with a choice of soup, chowder or salad. The New England clam chowder was a very good example-creamy, clamy, chunky. We had broiled swordfish with garlic butter & broccoli gratin and fried clams. All were great sized portions of obviously fresh seafood, simply made with all the flavor shining through. The atmosphere is old school (we were the youngest people in the place!), but we loved admiring the photos of lighthouses. And there is even a view if the water. Three of us went to the Crows Nest on a Friday night during the summer. The place was packed so we decided to take out instead. The people at the front desk could not have been nicer and took our takeout order right away. Two of us got lobster rolls. At $21.50 each, they were good but no better than what I have gotten for $15 to $18 elsewhere. We also took out clam cakes that were okay but could have used more clams in them and clam chowder that was thick and flavorful. For dessert we took out key lime pie that was a bit creamy and the lime a bit too subtle. The crowd here tends to be older and more laid back...which is not a bad thing in a place this popular. They are on the water but I did not see any outdoor dining. I would definitely give them another try on a less hectic day. read more
