Compassionate Care and an Excellent Eye Doctor…read more I recently took my mother, who is disabled, to La Paz Optometry in Mission Viejo to see Dr. Mimi Truong, and I cannot say enough good things about the experience. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Truong treated my mother with the utmost respect, patience, and genuine care. She took the time to make sure my mother felt comfortable throughout the appointment and never rushed the process. It meant a lot to see a physician show that level of compassion and professionalism. Dr. Truong was also extremely thorough during the eye examination. She carefully evaluated my mother's vision and eye health and took the time to explain everything in a clear and helpful way. She provided a lot of valuable information that helped us better understand my mother's eye health and what to look out for moving forward. La Paz Optometric Center has been serving Southern California communities for decades and offers comprehensive eye care services, including detailed eye exams, advanced diagnostic testing, and a wide selection of eyewear. Their doctors use modern technology to detect and manage eye conditions early and help patients maintain healthy vision. (Optometric Centers in Southern, CA) Our visit confirmed exactly what their reputation suggests: a professional clinic with knowledgeable doctors who truly care about their patients. If you are looking for an eye doctor in the Mission Viejo area, I highly recommend La Paz Optometry and Dr. Mimi Truong.

Instead, my experience today at. Excel Optometry was the complete opposite. I found a bunch of frames that I liked, I already have my new contacts ordered, and I'm getting a few recommendations on additional follow up care for my eyes. I'm completely satisfied.

(I had an eye doctor get frustrated with me during the exam process as a child, and I still get anxious thinking I am wasting their time if I ask her to show me the slides again.) I am aware this is a "me" problem, but a problem nonetheless, and Dr. Floyd calms me down by patiently showing me the slides again and not showing frustration so I don't get so nervous anymore. My prescriptions are always perfect for both contacts and glasses, and I look forward to hopefully being able to do LASIK with her someday. For such a sensitive procedure, I trust her completely. The front office staff I usually interact with (Sarah and Erica) are informative and helpful. Sarah usually conducts my pre-exam eye checks (puff of air, peripheral vision test, etc), and she is the BEST at distracting and moving through the tests quickly so that this is not tortuous like it always has been for me at other places. The frames here are gorgeous (name brands, lots of variety and sunglasses too), but you will not find a cheap pair of glasses here. I usually find a pair for under $300 to be specific. Insurance is key. The only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stats is because I wish the office had more of a welcoming feel- the overall tone is business first. This may work well for you because everyone is nice, professional and excellent at the medical side of their jobs. Appointments are quick, and I have never waited more than 5 minutes in the waiting room.

However, the experience with the front desk/optometric technician has been consistently uncomfortable. I have visited three times, and each time I was made to feel "stupid" for asking basic questions. Rather than being helpful, the technician would give me a stare like I was a burden, which made me feel extremely unwelcome. Beyond the attitude, the technical service was disappointing. After waiting over a month for my Metas, they arrived and rested right on my cheeks (which the sample pair didn't do). When I raised this concern, the technician dismissively told me they are "universal frames" and offered no help. It feels like the measurements taken by the optician didn't matter. Now I have to buy my own nose bridge inserts to prevent the glasses from causing acne and skin irritations. I want to continue seeing Dr. Grichine, but the lack of kindness and technical support from the staff makes it very difficult to return.
