I've been going to Project Eye care for awhile. The staff here are all really professional and friendly. The pricing is reasonable and they take my insurance. I love the variety of frames that they carry. In particular they have a lot of frames that were made to suit Asian faces. Making an appointment online is super easy. I am unsure of where to begin, but I can confidently say that our experience with Project Eyecare has been nothing short of amazing. My nine-year-old son was suffering from daily headaches after school, and despite seeing multiple eye care professionals, we still didn't have answers. Moved to OC area over 2 years ago and needed to find a new local optometrist. Asked a friend that we lived with where his was and he suggested Project Eyecare (which was a suggestion from his coworker lol). My friend said he liked this place and I trusted his opinion on it so I decided to check them out since I also didn't want to do the research of finding a new optometrist. Upon first meeting, everyone there is SUPER friendly and caring. Front staff and optometrists are very welcoming and never made me feel uncomfortable. During exams, both doctors (I've seen Dr. Cano and Dr. Tsai) tell me in detail on what's happening with my eyes, prescription and give recommendations. I've been so used to rectangle frames that when Dr. Cano said I could do round frames I was shocked. My previous optometrists never allowed me to do so because my prescription was so high - but Project Eyecare made it happen and I love my new frames! I've continued to stay with them since I moved to Irvine and cannot be happier! I've always been taken care of here and the staff is very transparent and don't try to scam you. My son age 7, started OrthoK in March of 2023, almost a year later and we are going strong wearing contacts at night, and 20/20 during the day. It's amazing! His intital Rx was like -6.25, so on the edge of being able to do OrthoK. Wow. Just wow. If you're looking for an optometrist with integrity. This is the place. Backstory: I brought my toddler to a different optometrist that specialized in children last year that left me wondering if I should bring my son to another doctor. My son was blinking a lot so we thought we'd get his eyes checked. He got prescription glasses (which are super cute) but the whole experience was traumatic bc she was pushy and repetitive. She didn't have alternative tests to fall back on so she just kept forcing him to obey while he cried and screamed. She relied on one toy in her office and only one way to test his vision. We had to visit every 6 weeks and you can see how traumatized my 3-year old was from each visit. The office staff was horribly unfriendly and inefficient as well. Fast forward to finding Dr. Cano and Jessica at Project Eyewear. Jessica is absolutely the loveliest person ever with a really good sense of humor. She and Dr. Cano did not pressure my son into any tests and rolled with the whims of a 3-year old effortlessly. I was surprised that they had a number of different ways to test the eyes bc they know that toddlers aren't always going to do what they're asked. Brilliant, right?! My son immediately took to both of them and did not cry whatsoever. It doesn't hurt that they have snacks and a spot for kids to play! Anyway, long story short: they determined my son did NOT need to wear glasses and had better than 20/20 vision!! Can you believe that? Given that they're a new business, they easily could've had me pay money to get my son new glasses but they deemed he didn't and had us come back in 6 weeks just to recheck and didn't even charge me for the revisit. THAT my friends is OUTSTANDING service! Since that experience I've converted over from my old optometrist that's literally 5 mins to my house and am now a patient at Project Eyecare. I noticed that they price their frames at really reasonable rates. I'm so used to optometrists charging $300 or more per frame but they have really cute lightweight frames less than $200 range that is covered by my insurance. I'm tempted to get a second set of frames -- that's how really reasonably priced they are. I also love that they answer the phone "how can I help you see better?" That's super stinkin' cute! They're such good people and deserve all the customers. I hope they survive thru this COVID-19 mess. read more

Dr. Cano has been incredibly educational, going above and beyond to explain terminology and explain what we can do to help prevent myopia in our kids. Wow.. all the reviews are on point. I came here in need of an eye exam since I had moved from my home town a couple years ago. I was way over due. I was recommended by friends and my husband had also recently gotten eye exam, glasses and contacts and he could not stop raving about the service and the office itself. I was able to get a next day appt! My exam was with Dr. Tsai. She was extremely knowledgeable and even diagnosed me with astigmatism. The exam was very thorough and it left me feeling like she truly cared about my eye care and the future of my eye health. Dr. Tsai and the office staff Jessica spent a lot of time helping me choose the perfect frames that took into account functionality, usage, my high prescription, my face shape, and nose contour which I enjoyed! They did not mind my indecisiveness one bit. Dr. Cano also added his personal suggestions and it really helped me choose wisely. Additionally, I work on the computer a majority of my day, and I had voiced my concern about feeling dizzy and getting a headache when driving and using the computer with my old glasses. They suggested a blue light blocker and a lens that helps ease the strain on the eyes with high screen time usage. My glasses came in in 2-3 days! (Awesome) With covid-19 social distancing and restrictions, I was still able to pick up my glasses and contact lens. Again, the customer service, the professionalism, and the knowledge/expertise here is top notch! Not to mention, the office is a beauty--so clean, modern aesthetic, very kid-friendly (speciality in child eye care program)! They had a good selection of eyewear, especially for asian faces like mine. I now wear my salt eyeglasses all the time and the anti-reflective coat and blue light blocker has been a game changer. For eye therapy, they were a waste of time and money. I'm really disappointed with this place. My husband received a referral from his neurologist because he has a concussion that is lasting a long time. The staff were all friendly.. My husband had an exam with Dr Cano and he said he could help and his assistant Jess would get back to me with the cost. We knew they don't accept insurance for eye therapy and paid $300 for the consultation. Jess said that it would be a year commitment at $11,000. We could either pay all at once, or make payments of $873 a month or pay with a credit company. WHAT? That's astronomical! I said we were not comfortable committing to a year because what if he is better in months or it doesn't work. Then she said we wouldn't have to commit to a year but would still have to pay the $873 a month. I asked if we could just pay per therapy appointment like every other therapy my husband does (occupational, physical and speech) and she said no. I told her that would not add up... one therapy a week does not equal to $873. She said it includes the fees and equipment. My husband is on disability and is not working. How could we pay that amount?? That's ridiculous. I think they needed us to help fund the eye therapy part of their business. I called other eye therapy companies and also spoke to his other therapies and none of them understood how we cannot pay per therapy session. This company doesn't care to help people they just want money. I wish I would have known before wasting time and money. read more

I had my annual eye exam for the first time in this area this morning at Project Eyecare. I found them through my insurance, I was having a hard time finding an office that took my UHC plan so when they said they did I snagged the first appointment I could. The office is very nice and clean and the staff were very nice and friendly upon my arrival. Dr Tsai was fantastic. She was very down to earth and understood that I was under a time constraint. She was very efficient and thorough. I also didn't realize that this location has a pediatric optometrist as well, I'm so happy to find a place to bring my kiddos too! I used to see Dr. Tsai at her previous office and really love this new office. Project Eyecare has a very modern and sleek vibe. I noticed that they carry really cool glasses brands that promote social responsibilities as their corporate mission (learned that from the waiting room books on the brands), which I thought was quite cool. When I walked in, I was able to fill out all my information on their tablet in just a few minutes and was quickly taken to do my pre-exam testing. The technician Jessica was so friendly and professional. In my past experience, a lot of times the technicians just go through the motions but that's not the case with Jessica. She really made me feel welcomed. I also love all the technology/tablets/machines they use in the office. Dr. Tsai was great as always. I've been seeing her for years now and she always keeps good notes on my vision's progression. She always recalls how my vision has changed over the years and knew what we spoke out the year before so I know she reviews my notes prior to seeing me. I love it when doctors take the time to do that because it shows they really care. Another reason I love seeing Dr. Tsai is that she really passionate about eye health. She's not just trying to give me my new prescriptions and move on but always asks questions about my contact lenses usage and my overall eye health. I am so happy I found Project Eyecare in Mission Viejo. As someone who has worn glasses and contacts since I was 6 years old, I have been to numerous optometrists and have had a variety of different experiences. I went in for my annual check up with Dr. Tsai and she was very knowledgeable and took the time to make sure my prescription was correct, and also thoroughly checked the health of my eyes. I felt more educated about my eye health in general, and Dr. Tsai helped me develop a care plan to improve my dry eyes. I also ended up getting my Lasik pre and post-op care at Project Eyecare, where I saw both Dr. Tsai and Dr. Cano for my checkups. I could tell that they really cared and took the time to make sure I had all my questions answered and that I understood everything they were checking for. They even discovered an issue with my retina that I need to monitor from now on, which I had never been told before.
