Great Job by Zack yesterday... spent over 4.5 hours with my wife and I as we inspected 2 homes we are getting ready to buy. After his inspection on the 1st house, it was obvious to him and us that there was major foundational issues w/ the house in the crawl space. (also electrical, sewer, fire place, and just poor workmanship that you wouldn't pick up when doing a normal walk thru to buy a house..) So his inspection saved us from some potential money pits down the road with house #1... For which we are grateful.. spending a little bit of money to have a pro look over everything, is a wise investment to save from potential problems down the road. On house #2 - he spent another 2 hours going over everything in the house and he was honest with us about some of the issues he found with this house, but none of them were really huge surprises, and we saw them when we first went in. When your buying a 50+ year old home, there will always be issues - fortunately for us, Zach was able to have easy access to the basement and attic.. so no real surprises.. (he even pointed out some issues with the new roof they put in, so we are definitely gonna bring that up with the seller..) So bottom line.. If you want a good home inspection team behind you - these guys are first rate. We had another group work with us on our other 5 homes we bought last year, and they didn't spend nearly the time or effort to look over as much as folks from Crown.. and their reports are awesome.. great pics, very detailed.. Good Luck with these people. they say you get a 90 home warranty through them in case they miss something.... that couldn't be further from the truth!. here is why.... I purchased a home tht was recently remodeled although the inspector was super nice he missed a horrible plumbing problem ( drain was filled up with mortar and when the shower filled up with water it started draining through the downstairs ceiling) found out about this the 2nd day i was in the house... I thought to myself no worries so i called the inspection company and they in return shuffled me off to the 90day warranty department ( I thought this will go super smooth) talked to the warranty people and i did what they said, got an estimate and emailed everything i was supposed to. 2 hrs after i sent the emailed they call and said they will not cover this plumbing issue because the people tht remodeled the house installed the shower pan and drain wrong.... i started laughing! and said your kidding right? and my next question was if you wont cover this what do u cover, thats the whole point about a home warranty, it turns out she was serious! at tht point i was furious..... because the estimate was $2500. so if you do go with this company and they say you are covered under warranty for 90days in case they miss something, Just know they are lying! because they have all of these little rules to get out of covering big ticket items If you think im kidding call me 414-213-1728 unlike this company i stand behind what i say lol read more

Would not recommend Crown Home Inspections!!Inspector that came and inspected our house for a potential buyer let the place in horrible condition. several items were left undone after the inspection. I had a timer on one of the faucets to water flowers and this was turned off and now my plants have died! Also where he accessed the attic the insulated was all over the floor and our clothes. we have a gas fire place and when we returned the pilot light was left on. Would not allow Crown Home inspections and their inspector Mike McLawhon touch as house. read more

I have to dock a couple stars for some items that were missed during the inspection that we've become aware of after living in the house for a week. I can't say I'm super fired up about this, because as the home buyer we should've been vigilant, but I feel that a thorough home inspection should've obtained notes on the following two items. 1. There are no exhaust fans in the bathrooms, which are full baths and contain showers. We'll have to get these installed so we don't have mold issues later on. This will obviously be costly and we are not equipped to do it ourselves. 2. There is no water line to our fridge. This one is weird. My husband and I assumed there was since our house was remodeled and the fridge is new. This was not the case... We have no ice and no water even though we have dispensers for both. Not sure how this one was missed, when little items like 'secure stove to wall' were on the report. Unfortunately if we ever want to use the built-in dispenser on the fridge, we'll have to pay to have this installed. Again, I'm not really upset about this, but it's more unfortunate. I wish we would've been informed of this so we could've asked the seller to install these items. read more

We did the inspection on the home we are under contract on today with Kevin and was the most pleasant experience we have had with inspectors. Kevin had already checked the outside of the property prior to our arrival and was prepared to go over this with us when we arrived. He then went through the entire home thoroughly with my husband. He and my husband discussed every aspect of the home and we felt even more confident in our decision afterwards. These guys were great!!! Showed up early to start and were extremely thorough. They showed us problems throughout the whole inspection, rather than wanting us to just stay out of their way. With each issue, they explained everything and gave us recommendations on companies to do the repairs. Very disappointing! We hired Crown to inspect a 5100 sq ft home we were purchasing. Though the inspector was professional and courteous, he was unprepared, missed many serious flaws, and did a very poor job overall. In particular, he mis-diagnosed a serious foundation problem as a minor crack needing caulk, mis-reported a serious electrical problem, and didn't notice major exterior deterioration problems. He didn't have a ladder tall enough to reach the second story to investigate rake/fascia issues, never opened or inspected casement window operators and members, and failed to inspect faucets/drains among other things. Even worse, the final report failed to convey the seriousness of these and many other flaws with the home. We reported all of this in detail to the main office and they "thanked us for the feedback". No apology, attempt at remedy, etc. A total waste of almost $1000 after all was said and done. *Update: They also shared my contact information with "partners" who are now calling my mobile phone with offers of additional services. We recently went under contract on a home that had it's previous offer fall through on. Prior to our offer we were able to see the previous home inspection. Once under contract our Realtor recommend Crown Home Inspections as we wanted to get our own inspection completed. These guys were awesome. Unfortunately we lived out of state when our inspection was done, so we were not able to be present at the time of inspection. The inspection report was ok, but I've definitely seen better. The inspector missed quite a few very simple issues with the home (missing door knobs, non-working attic fan, etc.). When confronted with this information they did immediately offer to refund our fee, but only after indicating that the missed items were OUR fault because we weren't present. If you need to be there to spend the time inspecting the home yourself - why pay for an inspector?!? Out of the three home inspections I've ever taken part (admittedly not a large sample size) this was definitely the worst. read more

At first they make it seem like everything is great...but not even being in my house for less then 12 hrs major repairs are needed due to items "missed" during the inspection or not even checked! I have had many clients use Crown Home Inspection when purchasing a home. The inspections have been thorough and cover issues from minor to major. These extensive reports have been great tools for buyers to determine which items they need repaired and in some cases the houses aren't worth the risk due to major issues.
