Was searching for a 'whole-house' inspector for purchase of a home. Viewed Google and Yelp which…read moreshowed 'Direct Inspections' had many positive reviews. Setup an inspection date and met Chris Dollmann(Certified Master Inspector). Chris is personable, extremely knowledgeable and fully explained every issue which needed immediate attention, or anything that should be corrected, but not critical. Have purchased three homes during my lifetime(this being my last) and can say Chris is by far the most comprehensive inspector I have dealt with. All items documented and sent via PDF (with pictures). Due to Chris's thoroughness, estimates totaled $8,000 (mainly roof and electrical) of which I forwarded a copy to the seller resulting in $4000 being paid via seller at closing. Highly recommend 'Direct Inspections' and very appreciative of Chris's expertise.

Nelson Allsbury conducted an inspection of a house I purchased in July as a rental. As I am out of…read morestate, I relied on his inspection and purchased the house "as is". As soon as the tenant moved in, problems began showing up. Of course, he blamed the tenant, but one problem that definitely is not the tenant's fault (not that I think any of them are), is that the garage door was installed incorrectly. His answer to that was that it opened and closed okay. A good inspector would have seen that the installation was incorrect and noted that on the report, which he didn't do. The cost to fix all the problems has been substantial, and he takes no responsibility. I don't recommend the use of either this company or Mr. Allsbury.

As a Kansas city realtor, the inspector I recommend reflects directly on my business, and Steve has always taken incredible care of the people I send his way. My clients frequently comment not only on how thorough and knowledgeable he is, but also on what a genuinely kind and personable person he is. Over the years, he has gone above and beyond in many situations . whether it's accommodating scheduling challenges, helping navigate unexpected issues with a property, or simply taking extra time to make sure my clients truly understand the condition of their home. One thing my clients consistently mention is how comfortable Steve makes them feel. He takes the time to talk with them, answer questions, and connect on a human level, not just rush through the inspection. Many of them walk away saying, "He was such a nice guy." That matters to me because there has to be trust and connection between the inspector and the client. Steve brings both professionalism and warmth to every inspection. I recommend him not only to my clients but also to other real estate agents. If you want someone who is knowledgeable, reliable, and truly cares about the people he serves Steve is your guy.
