The company who'd replaced our roof didn't replace the flat part. They said it didn't need to be replaced. It was a rainy day when they collected the check. As soon as they were gone, our family room ceiling opened up and gallons of water poured in. The roofing company agreed to replace the flat roof but they did a sloppy job. I had someone on my roof who was screening off areas where critters could access our attic and they told me that flat roof needed to be replaced, sooner than later. I contacted several companies recommended by people on the Nextdoor app. One company came out to give me a quote but never returned my calls. Another company told me they were only doing roof replacements. I appreciated their honesty. I was very specific when I called roofing companies; I didn't need a new roof. One guy came out and told me he could contact my insurance company and tell them my roof had been damaged from a storm. We'd not had any damage to our roof from storms and that's bordering on insurance fraud. I decided to check out Yelp recommendations and saw that Easton had a lot of good reviews. When I called, they were very nice and told me they'd send someone out. The guys from Easton were there on time and they gave me an estimate. The estimate was very reasonable so I called to schedule the repair. The workers were very nice, professional, timely and they were there everyday until it was finished. They cleaned up after the repair so I wasn't finding random pieces of roofing material. Everyone, from the woman who answered the phone to the guys who did the repair was very nice and the whole process was seamless. Easton completed the repair and after years of checking ceilings, I can finally relax. Another contractor I'd used to remodel our house often needed access to the roof. I didn't ask him to check the flat roof but while he was up there, he wanted to check it out. He assured me they'd done a very good job and then asked for their info so he'd have the name of a good roofing company if one of his clients was looking to replace their roof. When an outstanding contractor is impressed with the work done by another company and asking for the company's info, that says a lot. If we have to replace our roof, we'll definitely use Easton and if anyone needs a roof replacement or repair, I highly recommend them. They've earned those 5 star reviews.

If I had known then, what I know now, I would have secured additional quotes from other experience roofers. I do not have issue with the workmanship of the 3 kick-out flashings your employee/contractor. As far as I'm concerned, he's a true craftsman's. I do, however, have issue with what you quoted as related to the amount of time spent on the project and the cost of the materials. If I had known your employee would spend less than 45 minutes at my house I would have gotten additional quotes. I believe the cost of materials (what I would have paid for the parts): Materials: $3.00, 3 each, 8 x 8 Step flashing, modified to be a kick-out flashing $1.00 each $1.00, 12 nails - Less than a $1.00 $7.00, 1 - Partial tube of caulking $11.00 total cost of materials Labor Charge out Rate: $700 less $11.00 equals $689 for less than 45 minutes of labor. My math shows your charge out rate of $918 an hour. You may recall, I mentioned these facts to you when you advised me the work had been completed. I'm going to pay this bill because I did not get additional quotes. I hope others will learn from my mistake of not receiving a second quote.

My husband and I knew it would be a huge project as we had a 40 year old wood shake shingle roof that was not insurable and needed to go probably 10 years ago. We ended up having three different companies out to bid, one we had used before for a smaller project that gave a competitive bid and two unknowns to us. The first unknown wanted to charge us twice as much as what we ended up doing, so it's certainly worth asking around and getting quotes. 1A was the most unknown as it was the only one that came with no Yelp reviews and no feedback from others online. Turns out they are a new company and when Danny came out to quote us on the roof he was really friendly, answered all of our questions, and gave us a price we just couldn't beat. Before we settled the deal we had at least one more call with him and talked through even more questions that came up and felt assured they would do a great job on this project. It took them around 3.5 days to complete our roof and I will say it was a ton of work. Pulling wood shake off of a 3K sq. ft. home is not an easy feat, especially in early June humidity in KC. The crew got to work, and my husband and I got to know Roberto, who with Danny, are the two owners of 1A. Roberto is young, but an honest, kind, and talented roofer. He did a great job leading his team and getting us a solid and nice looking roof in a good amount of time. The thing that probably shocked me the most was just how quickly they were able to clean up and get our yard back to looking normal when they were done.
