My partner and I came in, only having heard of the place and not knowing too much about it. The front door was a little confusing, but to any newcomers you just flick the light switch above the door on and the host will let you in! It's got a very cozy and fun speakeasy vibe, and I love the dedication to serving second shift/late shift workers. My partner and I both work late, and finding places that are open later in the evening can be difficult. The drinks were incredible, I was especially fond of the "Leatherhead" (I really hope I'm remembering the name correctly). We both ordered appetizers, the pork belly and the lamb. OMG. Everything was delicious and we had to order another round. Wait staff were very nice and helpful. We came here for a bachelorette dinner. It's a speakeasy vibe which we loved! However they sat us in the front of the restaurant and it was a little dead. We would had rather sat near the bar or by the couch seatings. They would have had some music playing it someone playing music. The service took a little while, considering it wasn't too busy. But the drinks were tasty and the few snacks we had were ok. This place has POTENTIAL! I would def go back! read more

My sister and I had a delightful time at a hidden gem in Claremont, NH last Saturday. After we gained admittance to the Crowbar Hardware Store, we sat at the bar and ordered some cocktails. I had a delicious Margarita and Jane had a Go With the Flow thanks to Adelaide. We shared yummy Brussel Sprouts while taking in the decor-so much to look at. For dinner we shared a Pork Belly flatbread that was good-pretty standard. We were able to see a secret location in the store and speak to the owner who was happy to give us some fun facts. I would tell you more, but I'm sworn to secrecy. I will return, for sure, when in the area. And, I recommend going to Crowbar without hesitation. read more

What a fun discovery! I was passing through town on my way to Montreal for an overnight and stumbled across this spot as I walked around town. There is a secret speakeasy in the basement on Friday and Saturday nights. FYI you have to turn the bell at the top of the door to get access to this place. My Manhattan was perfect and my food was delish. The best place to sit as a singleton is at the bar. I highly recommend this place! And, bonus points: Creme brulee on the menu!!! read more

5 Stars for Service. I had at least 2 people recommend this restaurant to me, which means it's worth a visit. Going in is fun because you need to twist a latch and/or flip a switch and then wait to be greeted. Our hostess was hilarious about ceremoniously peeping out to view us and let us in, because you could tell it was just part of the idea of being a speakeasy and she was making it clear she was letting us in, regardless. The restaurant started as a speakeasy on the main level, incredibly nondescript, and then became more open with a window view from the street. But there is still an ample hidden surprise to discover if you are curious enough. Or just check out their Facebook page. There is a massive selection of speakeasy cocktails and this place is great for whiskey lovers. I had the Tangerine Dream cocktail with herbal citrus infusions and whiskey. The food was delicious. They get the basics right, ie a cheese flatbread was super yum. The vegetable of the week is fried and comes with savoury, caramelized shallots. We had brussel sprouts with those shallots! What ever fried veggie app is, get it because the flavors are dynamic. We enjoyed beignets and those were awesome find all the way here in Claremont, NH. I also got the Vietnamese beef sliders seasoned with key Vietnamese ingredients including fish sauce. First bite tasted, for sure, like sausage. Rest of bites tasted like burger and texture was stringy on top. I would skip these. All of the rest of the food was really good. We loved the charcuterie board and the hot honey sauce with it. I think it was Siracha Honey. Loved it. I really enjoyed the creativity with all of the ingredients. And I learned the difference between capers and caper berries, there. Jury is still out....opened recently so I stopped by. They have street parking. Very limited food menu. Drinks are reasonably priced. Vibe kinda fell flat. Decor is just ok. I would like to come back after a few months and really hope they make it. I would suggest a bigger tapas menu. After all, this is Claremont and one does not want to pay more than 20 bucks for an entree in a small place with little ambience. read more

First two times we have been to CrowBar, it was really great. Both the drinks and the food were excellent. Then there seemed to be a fallout with their chef and the food has gone down hill. Went about 2 weeks ago and the food menu was very limited. They took off the menu chicken fingers, and when asked if they had bacon for a burger, they didn't. But they had "pancetta" in a pasta dish that tasted too close to being just chopped up bacon. When asked for pickles on the burger, they ran out. They even took the beignets off the desert menu. So if you're going there for food and a drink, you might be disappointed because it's hit and miss. If you're just going for drinks, the drink menu is top notch. My issue with it is that they keep changing the drinks and items that were there are now removed and I couldn't remember the name. But they can still make them. Suggestion to the mgmt, if the bartenders can still make any of the old drinks, make a menu book of drinks and just have the current curated list of recommended drinks on the main menu. The atmosphere is really good, but the lighting on specific tables could be improved. Either with individual lights on each table (they make battery operated rechargeable small lights less than 12" tall) or add spot lights on the tables. Those who have difficulty seeing in low light might have issues. I really hope they improve their food menu. It used to be a place to go with great drinks and food, but now the food is not on the same caliber as the food. If you're a whisky drinker and want a cool place to hang out, definitely watch for their events in the whisky cellar bar. Great ambiance. read more

Thursday night. Crank the bell or turn the light switch on at the door. Just 2 people at bar at 7:30. "Bar is where the action is" was the advice from the bartender. Had great service throughout the night. Care given to making drinks rather than speed. Stirred not shaken. Chicken tender app made on site rather than freezer. Burger good. Wife had Alfredo which was very cheesy. We would come back but we have sister bar Soles 5 minutes from our house. Tine Time to try speakeasy's in Nashua and Concord. read more

This was my second time visiting and both times were delightful. The food and drink was spot on. The service was friendly and though the owner said that he was short staffed it was difficult to tell. I didn't feel stress to finish up and enjoyed the company of friends. I will definitely be returning. The only complaint that I have is the pictures in the ladies bathroom seem more suited to the bathroom in a gay bar. Come on, give us ladies something to go home and smirk about! read more

I just read the other review which mentioned "little ambience". What?! We're they in the same place I was in?! This is a very atmospheric reproduction of an old-time speakeasy from the furnishings and lighting to the window decor presenting itself as a closed hardware store. You ring the bell to get access. The place was fairly busy when we were there on a Saturday night and we were glad to see it. I had a nice Paper Plane and my husband had a beer and we enjoyed a nice pork belly appetizer.
