What a funky and cool place!! Note: My perspective is that if a Bostonian. I'm a little bit of a foodie snob. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed this place. We stopped in for lunch and you absolutely cannot beat the view of Lake Sunapee, the food was very good, and the service was excellent! We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area. It had been awhile since we were last here but yesterday we decided to go back as my daughter was craving their haddock. Our server was good and very friendly. It wasn't her but the food that was the problem. My daughter ordered haddock and I ordered ribs. The ribs were very weird. They were dry but kind of mushy and had a very different flavor. They looked much better than they tasted. I asked for extra bbq sauce to try to drown them a bit but it didn't help much. The fries and green beans were very good. My daughter said the haddock was not good either. To wet and had a odd texture on the thicker part. So disappointed as it was over 60 dollars for the two dinners and a couple sodas. Will probably never go back which is sad as it's a lovely spot with a beautiful view and used to be really good seafood. read more

This was a return trip after 6 years, as our first experience was horrid, ($120 for 4 people and left hungry). Menu has plenty of options. I started with the onion soup, very flavorful, lots of cheese, but too salty for my taste. Menu price was 6/7, however we were charged $10 ($10.35 using credit). Pulled pork sandwich was delicious and I liked that the bbq sauce was served on the side. Onion rings and French fries were very tasty and plentiful. The seafood casserole spent a tad too much time under the broiler, cracker crumbs were blackened, but the overall taste was very good. Scallops were tender, but the shrimp were tough/chewy. Our initial bill came to $55, but with added credit card charges (no mention of that on the menu) and over charged on the soup, it ballooned to $62. Dock slots available for boat parking! Note that the lake level is pretty low and because it's so shallow, it's not really possible to dock in the two closest spots to the shore. They have a window to order from outside (as well as a more-formal indoor seating and dining area. The only things good were the view and quaintness of the restaurant atmosphere. With more attentive wait staff and a true chef in the kitchen this place would be packed ALL the time. We ordered Shrimp Scampi's ($28) and a couple of beers as are meal. No garlic bread comes with the scampi (odd but ok). The scampi came in watered down broth, no garlic, definitely not a scampi sauce and absolutely no flavor! Had to ask for parmesan cheese, which seemed it was too much to ask the waitress to get for us. We choked down the meal (we had not eaten all day and that was the only way we would have eaten it all it was so bad). We had finished our beers 3/4 of the way through our meal and didn't get a return to our table until the last bites of it and was asked if we wanted another round or some waters as we were waiting for the check. Waitress then went and bitched to another waitress about what her interaction with us as I could see & hear her from our table. Mind you we were never rude and completely polite in asking and not accepting ( please's & no thank you's). We even tipped this individual 18% for a total lack luster job with us. $90.78 w/tip: for two scampi's and two beers total.. Our 1st experience and last experience we will do at this establishment. I rate it a 0! It was our first time there and our last! The waitress was nice. No ambiance and the food sucked! The place needs a good cleaning! They need to change the fryer oil!!! Fish sandwich came out dark because the oil is old. Yuck! It was dry and tasteless. the French fries were misshaped and tasted gross. Tarter sauce had no flavor. My plate was filled with bits and pieces of French fries. We ordered crab cakes which were mushy and tasteless. We were surprised we didn't get sick! My wife and I both ordered wraps and seafood chowder. The wraps and onion rings were very good, the chowder not so much. It seemed to have noodles in it and the broth isn't cream or milk based like a traditional New England chowder. The small piece of haddock I did see, was from a frozen filet. It had the fake crab seafood salad in it and the shrimp were salad sized. The service was excellent, timely and polite professional. There's a patio outside and plenty of seating inside. Nice location by the lake. The absolute best seafood dish I've ever tasted- the Seafood Pie. Scallops and shrimp bathed in creamy, garlicky goodness, topped with toasted crumbs. Now, let's talk about the seafood chowder. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this dish far exceeded my expectations. It's not your typical white chowder with little chunks of meat. The soup base is light brown, with shrimp and way more crab than any other I've had. It was perfectly seasoned. Phenomenal. Sunapee and restaurant options are limited in the area. This was by far our favorite. So much so that on my way out the door I stopped at the host stand to make a reservation for the next night (our last night in the area). Both nights the seafood was great. This review is strictly for the soft serve twist at Jolly Molly's Ice Cream - which is part of Bubba's. I'm not sure what is in their soft serve, but it is maybe some of the creamiest ice cream I have ever had. We hopped here after housing a quick lobster roll at Anchorage, and I ordered a small twist in a regular cone with chocolate sprinkles. I never order twists, but I really should. The small was 'UGE. My friends that I was with joked that no matter what, even if you ask for a teenie tiny scoop - you know just enough to have an equal ratio of cone to cream - they always serve you a monster twist. I think in the future I would skip dinner and just do this. It was so much that I had to knock some ice cream off to get to the cone. They did provide an A+ amount of sprinkles and it did make my night - even if I did feel extremely full after. BUT KNOW a small will likely meet all your needs. read more

I'll only discuss the seafood chowder and ice cream, because that's what I have when I go there. Chowder is served in generous portions, isn't overly thick, like what you'd get closer to the coast. I found a reasonable amount of fish in my portion, and for the location and portion size it's a good value. As for the ice cream there is a line Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but there is a substantial menu and the servers provide fairly sized portions. Just watch yourself crossing Route 103, as the cars can sometimes whip through no thinking of the pedestrians crossing the road. read more

The bubba's burger was just so so, not comparable to the one at Mt Sunapee ski resort. Plus, they did not put the cheese I asked for on the burger. The seared ahi tuna tasted great, though. The house salad also tasted good. The service was kind of slow. We were not in a hurry. So it was no big deal for us. They do not seem to have enough servers during the peak lunch hour. We absolutely enjoyed our visit. First, we felt safe with the pandemic measures taken; tables were spaced well, booths had plexiglass dividers and the entire staff wore masks. That already made us feel comfortable from the beginning. Molly, our waitress, was superb. Chill, efficient, courteous, obviously experienced. I would expect to see waitstaff like that at a fine dining restaurant. We tried the succulent burger, large, juicy, well condimented. Quickie review: we stopped by at lunchtime. Were mediately seated in a booth by the window with a view of the lake. Server came, took our drink order immediately. We asked what was good and she made several suggestions which sounded great. So I had an excellent fish sandwich with fresh cut onion rings. Right up there with the best onion rings I've ever had. The sandwich was great. Mrs. Creosote had a gorgeous cheddar cheeseburger with hand cut fries, all cooked exactly how she wanted. Can't speak for others, but Bubbas was perfect for us. read more

Get the onion rings!! We came to Bubba's for two nights because we were vacationing walking distance. Everything was delicious or at least edible. I thought the portions were good. Personally I thought the seafood chowder was overrated, but my bf enjoyed it. The salads were HUGE. The ice cream cake desserts were also huge. The real star of the show are the onion rings!
