I am writing this post on behalf of my sister Mary Jo Cronin…read more She adopted a cat on 2/27 at the Will County Humane Society. They required a 6 day background check on human but we wish they would have done the same on the cat. They provided a free visit. The cat had a slight fever and was taken Crossroads Animal Hospital on Caton Farm Road on 3/2. They inspected the cat and they gave a shot. The vet never opened the cats mouth. On 3/19 exam, the cat was taken to a clinic closer to home. Dr Jenny Kuhn at Mokena Animal Clinic reported that the cat had already lost 5 teeth and recommended extraction of 17 more. Surgery was performed on 4/9. We are grateful that Dr Jenny Kuhn intervened for the sweet cat. We are also grateful that they only charged $400 to extract all of the infected teeth. But the process prior to her was less than humane or compassionate. We hope this story encourages the Will County Humane Society to watch who they partner with for care of the animals they are trying to protect. If Mary Jo had not persisted, the cat could have died from the infected teeth. As a new cat owner, she didn't think to try check teeth and gums.

I asked for a refund of the medication cost of $85- which felt appropriate given they knew they were in the wrong. Got a pretty snarky email from the owner telling me no way and to go find another vet if I'm unhappy. $85 seemed like a small price to pay to keep my business given what happened. And what's more is they worked hard to make me the bad guy in the email after Emily on the phone acknowledged she knew the vet did the wrong thing. The two main vets here are still good- not hating on them. I just think it's normal if you know you did something wrong to try and make it right. Apparently the owner disagrees.

They're never available when you need them the most, when your animal needs to be seen immediately, and they always want to "sell" you more services like you're somehow an unlimited income stream. Until I finally found Hometown!!! I found them by calling around trying to get my dog in for a hurt paw and was turned away from all local vets until I called this wonderful place. They squeezed him in immediately and took great care of my buddy. Fast forward he got really sick and once again needed to be seen right away and rather than push me off on an emergency vet, they squeezed me in. They have always given the tests they feel are most effective at letting them know what's wrong and don't try to upsell me on anything I don't need. I don't feel like a walking dollar sign when I come here. We had to eventually put my beloved Curly down and the caring, compassion, and follow up were unbelievably wonderful. They even gave us this awesome little gift that if you plant in your yard turns into beautiful wild flowers that come back every year to remember my buddy. If you have ever struggled to find a vet or are sick of being nickel and dimed by your current vet. I highly recommend you take your beloved pet here. Thank you Hometown!

She was super nice from the minute we got there and took great care of our very scared little dogs. One was a puppy so it was her first grooming appointment. We'll definitely be back due to this great experience and would recommend it highly to others!

*shocking!* yet another complete disappointment of a business! My mom has been taking her dogs here…read moreregularly for years now. Well, I finally decided to give them a try and so I booked an appointment for one of my own for a simple bath and brush (no matts). Not only did they call to reschedule me *the day prior* but when I called to confirm my new reschedule, I was given a price increase over the phone as well! $40 for bathing a 6 pound dog that needs absolutely no hair or nail trim? $40 just to bathe and brush a dog with no matts? Lmao. Okay Not only was the woman I spoke to on the phone condescending and did not care at all about my concerns - but their prices are a little ridiculous and flaky. Why was I told it would be $25-$30 when I originally booked the appointment and then $40 when I called to confirm the reschedule? Completely unprofessional - get your prices together and maybe try to fake that you actually care about people that want to spend their money here. To boot, I don't even know why my mom comes here for her dogs. Whenever she gets her dog bathed and cut, he looks horrible. He is never properly cut for his breed and it's always a sloppy job. (sorry mom but you've even said it yourself!) Way to totally turn down a first time client that could have been regular. Grossly unprofessional. Guess I'll find someplace that actually has their business and prices together.

However for my migraine alert dog passing she gave us a huge hug! Then for our last fur dogs passing who we had to put down on February 4th, she held our dog genuinely and lovingly, she provided soft treat snack for her if she wanted it. She refused it at first but she gladly took it. Current doctors who we tried to routinely see if available Dr Straight. She has a beautiful soul and a love for animals! She is patient and kind. She saw our furbaby and worked hands on with our baby till the end. There was another Doctor who we absolutely love. She was gentle and genuine. She was supportive! We added her to our dog list of doctors because she had a ton of knowledge on senior dogs. While she did not put her down, she still came to say her goodbye. Katelyn a groomer there worked along side of our dog. We did let the front staff know if they wanted to tell Katelyn before we put her down that she was welcome to come back. She did come back to say her goodbye to Cocoa when she did not have too. She is a fantastic groomer!!! She takes solid notes. Sofia was a beautiful soul too and we appreciated her. She very sensitive towards the situation. We did ask for clippings of our dogs fur and we never got that from them. So if this is something you want from your dog please do it on your own terms or have a trusted neighbor assist you if you can't. I was planning on turning it into a necklace but never got it. When we picked up our dogs ashes. Staff were sad. One staff she was very kind but she firmly told my husband he was a good Dad. She did not say anything to me on that matter which hurt because while I was not there mostly for the vet appointments. She did not know the work that I did at home or if I attended by phone. So that rubbed me the wrong place. When Katelyn was gone on maternity leave. They had a brand new groomer. She was crappy. She injured our dogs ear. Our dog had to receive vet care. They should have credited full amount back to us but they only gave us partial. That is not substantial when a newbie injures your dogs ear.
