We try a spa day for our pup 1x a month; however, because this is a popular location, it's not easy to book an appointment unless it's done days in advance. So, get booking if you want a spot for your fur baby. He looked just like my beloved dog that I loved and lost at 16 years of age. We found Max at K-9 Tailshakers and thru research felt we found the best of the best. We had the foster family drop him off. He bit me twice previously, so I knew this was no easy task and the transition would leave me wounded from dog bites. Max worked with him only a week. He was then a totally different dog. The foster family and all of the GS group were amazed and in awe of the work done. Our boy turned into a loving, sweet and behaved gorgeous but still lethal family dog. Max has our total respect and gratitude for taking our doomed baby and making him an incredible companion The education has not ended. We will consider this a process and take him back periodically for training and board. Max is like part of the family now and we feel so indebted for what he accomplished. BUT.....IF you have a dog that is easily spooked and scared and is harder to train, please go somewhere else. Stone City Kennel Club is MUCH better for the skittish dogs. The dogs that are eager to please are the dogs that they focus on. The dogs that are not....well.....let's just say that we did not return for the last 3 sessions as we felt like we were not only wasting our time, but their time as well. I can not rate the business because I used Ian when he worked for another training company. I have read the reviews here and the negatives seem to be about how the new business is being run and NOT about Ian's ability as a trainer. Hopefully Ian reads the reviews and fixes those parts of the business that are causing negative reviews. MY STORY: We adopted a rescue dog (a 80 lbs. Chow) and gets overly excited and therefore no one else wanted it. When we first got her it was difficult for me and impossible for my wife to walk the dog. Although it was funny to watch the dog pull my wife around the neighborhood, something had to be done. We called a company and Ian came over and spent about 15 minutes talking with us about the dog and about us. He asked us what we wanted to accomplish. He then took the dog on a 10 minute walk by himself. When he came back we all went for a walk and I was amazed we had a new dog. Our dog was walking behind him and was constantly looking at Ian for direction. Ian then let us walk the dog and show us how to hold the leash and to correct the dog. Within a couple more visits our dog was exercising on a treadmill and retrieving beers from the fridge for me (kidding on this one.) I will say you will have to continue to be consistent with the dog. Dogs are very smart and will want to follow a leader, the problem is when we forget to be that leader. I've also never had a dog - cats all my life - so I had no port in this puppy storm. Thunder helped me to understand her better and taught me how to communicate with her. Since we started working with Thunder things have gotten a lot better. Our life is a lot less chaotic and overwhelming. She also goes to daycare with Thunder when I have long workdays and I board her with him when I have to travel. She is always happy to see him.
