Quiet Tuesday, arrived at opening time. Warm, friendly greeting, made our way to the Bistro. Had a nice patio view...too cold to enjoy the gorgeous outdoor spaces and views on this day... Menu was totally enticing and our selections of Mediterranean Plate and Shelby Handheld were delightful. Wine choices of course, and we took bottles home. The Ali D'Oro was brilliant! Representing 2024 in alphabet series for C is C for CrossKeys Vineyards. My girlfriend recommended going here when we were visiting Massanutten in April 2024. This is a beautiful property with acres of vineyards. We did a wine tasting, all very good quality wines. There's a lot of outside seating, and we sat outside on the nice spring day. They give a chart showing various aspects of the wine like acidity, sweetness, etc., which was colorful & helpful to determine the wines to select for the tasting & a heads up on wines we might like or dislike better or worse than others. Staff was nice. We got to keep the CrossKeys wine glasses with the wine tasting, which was nice. Overall, this was a great recommendation by my g/f and would potentially return next time I'm in Rockingham County, VA. It's just less than a 30 minute drive from base camp, a central spot in Massanutten, to CrossKeys, and it's conveniently only 14 minutes or 6 miles from the new Buc-ee's off I-81. read more

Beautiful vineyard with lots of seating. We didn't try the food, but had several wine flights between our group. Our collective favorite was the Cabernet Franc, and we took a couple bottles home to enjoy with dinner. The service was prompt and kind even on a busy Saturday. read more

CrossKeys was such a fun experience! We had Leslie tell us all about the wines and conduct our tasting. She was so wonderful and was both informative and super charismatic. She has been working here for four years and clearly has a lot of knowledge about wines! We ended up doing the Estate tasting which included about 10-12 wines for us to try. It was a variety of whites, reds, and dessert wines. Every wine was tasty--I think there is a lot of variety there. The Chardonnay was great and the Joy Red was also really nice! But ultimately we ended up buying a bottle of the Touriga red wine to have on Valentine's Day. But we honestly struggled choosing because there were so many good options! We were also given a piece of paper to write down our opinions on each of the wines (and to remember which was which). We also really enjoyed the dessert wines-- one was very sweet and white whereas the other was a port. It's unfortunate we don't live closer because I do think this place is really beautiful and rustic! They even do dinner/wine chef nights so you can try food from the bistro and pair it with the wines! read more

This vineyard is so stunning, I was left speechless. My family of 6 came here to celebrate my sister's graduation and our dinner was incredible. The brie fondue is a must, it's so delicious, you have to eat the entire thing!!! Came to CrossKeys on a weekend trip with friends. We came in a large group, so they put a couple tables together to accommodate us. TLDR: hit or miss food, good wine, inconsistent service From the start there was some confusion with the menus. They provided a couple physical menus and a wooden cube that had different QR codes to scan. The menus on the QR code and the physical menus did not match up, in addition it was a little annoying needing to scan each time I wanted to switch between the main menu, brunch menu, or wine list. On my side of the table we were told we couldn't order the chicken katsu because they were only doing the brunch menu, but when the food came out we saw our friends on the other side had gotten chicken katsu. This was disappointing since we had already ordered different things from the kitchen (we did have different waitresses, ours was a trainee but she confirmed with the other waitress on the brunch only rule). We were told up front that our food would come later than our friends on the other side, however it was a lot later than expected. Our friends on the other side of the table had already finished their meals and the party that came in after us already received their food by the time our food came out. I personally got the smoked salmon dip, it was ok. A bit salty and we didn't expect the amount of cream fraiche on top. Unfortunately, my friend who received her order dead last got her ube yam pancakes - they were burnt on both sides, she had to order them again to go. Another friend of mine got the pulled pork huevos rancheros and it was also extremely salty, he barely touched them. However, yet another friend of mine, enjoyed her Reuben, so the food was pretty much hit or miss. I will say, the wine was delicious, we ordered the fruit infused flight from their tasting room and enjoyed trying and comparing the different wines. Overall, it was just frustrating. There seemed to be an issue with timing. However they were accommodating and quick to fix any issues. read more

This has moved to my top favorite Vineyard in Virginia. The food was absolutely fantastic. The sampler platter was the perfect starter for two. The Reuben was a work of art. And you can't beat the ambiance of this place. Nestled in the mountains and its incredible views. I like the ambience here in warmer weather. This time, it was a winter afternoon, so the patio overlooking the beautiful property was closed. The bistro is located an attractive space inside that appears to be suitable for events as well. It was a bit chilly though, so I kept my coat draped around my shoulders. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Food was pretty good, but not piping hot. I got a Caesar side salad and chicken orzo soup. Both had good flavor, though the soup was just warm. Hubby's BbQ chicken sandwich was very good! Fries were a bit cold and have probably been cooked in a batch before we arrived. Not the freshest, but we didn't think we wanted to wait for a newer batch. 3.5 rounded up! The wines choices are excellent, especially for those wanting fruit forward wines. We enjoy the Joy White and Joy Red blend. The staff in the tasting/retail area were very pleasant as well. I would try again, but will wait for the events in the Spring and summer! read more

Each one had its own twist--peach, berry, and citrus were my top picks. Refreshing, not too sweet, and just strong enough to keep things interesting. I had no idea about this place until my daughter recommended it for lunch. It's about 20 minutes or so from Harrisonburg. Great grounds and. Vineyards. We parked right up front as the place was just opening. Good vibe so far. We went to the tasting room and were promptly greeted by the taste master. Easy to understand menu. I chose the red flight and kid chose the sweet flight. I liked all of the reds and kid likes the pear. I sipped it and it was good indeed. We added a charcuterie plate as well. I have visited several times for the spectacular view and the decent food. Unfortunately, I find the staff dismissive at best, bordering on rude. I'm not the type to dress up fancy, and I hope there isn't a racial component (concerning esp based on past reviews), but I have consistently felt unwelcome. I recently tried another vineyard in the area, and the experience was night and day. The vibe was laid-back, and the staff was so kind and grateful for my patronage. I advise folks who don't look like they belong at the fancy country club to either order straight from the bar and avoid table service, or take their generous tips to establishments that appreciate them and don't judge them based on appearance. Thankfully, this is an area with many fantastic options! read more

You know how most wineries you really like a couple wines, most are ok, and a few are definitely not for you? The problem with Crosskeys is that so much of their wine is good! Whites, reds, sparkling, most of them are excellent and it's tough to pick the bottles you want to take. My typical takeaway from Most wineries is 1-3 bottles. Every time (and Crosskeys has become a regular stop) I come here it's at least half a case if not more! read more

When I tried to hit this place two years ago, there was a wedding and a reception happening, and only one person was staffing the tasting room and it was beyond packed, so I had to escape. This time, however, was the complete opposite. And I have to say it was totally worth the wait. I got to do a tasting with a mixture of whites and reds and got a lot of 'joy' out of it! I tried the Joy Red, Joy White, Rose, and another red that was quite bold, but delicious! I enjoyed the Joy Red enough to buy two bottles, and got quite a unique red blend for my parents. Before the sun went down and it got too windy, I was able to enjoy my flight outside with a beautiful view of the hills...but then the temperature started falling like a stone so I ran in. Apparently they have a bistro as well, and thanks to the live music they were open way later than usual. It definitely helps to have their schedule on hand so you can know what to expect. I arrived around 4:40, thinking I'd have to rush through my flight before their normal closing time at 5:00, but that wasn't the case. I would recommend this winery to anyone visiting the area. We had a "girls day" here the day before my friend was getting married in the beautiful mountains of VA and the day couldn't have been more perfect for us. We had a covered space reversed for all of us on the patio that held 4 large tables that sat about 8 each. They have a wine tour where you can go inside (it was limited on how many could go at a time) and sit at the table where they go over the different wines and how they are made, etc. The entire wedding party went in together while the rest of us all stayed out on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful weather and ordered wine and food. It was so nice sitting there, relaxing with everyone with wonderfully made wine and delicious food. The place was pretty busy so we all expected a little wait on the food and we were in no rush. Honestly, they were probably hoping we all left by the time the bridal party was done with their wine tasting because there was a lot of wine going around our party and well, the day before our girl was getting married, we were pretty loud. They were very good about it and just took everything we threw at them. Our waitress did mix a few of our checks up but who could blame her as none of us stayed in our seats and moved around to a new one often. They got everything worked out without any questions. I had ordered the wine flight that was sweet, they have the flight pre-designed based on sweet, fruity, white and red. I ordered the baked brie that sounded so yummy when reading the menu. I should have ordered more of a meal but we were supposed to go to another location after the winery, buuuuut we never made it there. LOL. When the brie came out everyone was like "ummmmm I want some" and I truly had all intentions in sharing with my friends until I took a bite and then well, I ate it all. I looked around to what my friends had ordered and everything looked really good. I did try one of my friends dish that was vegetarian and I surprisingly couldn't tell. Service was very poor. Our party of 5 all ordered drinks and they came out at 3 separate times. Especially awkward because it was someone's birthday and we all wanted to toast her. Four people got their food at the same time and then we all waited for the final order. I ordered chicken and waffles because I never had had them. I wanted to try both maple syrup and hot honey, with them. It came out with just the maple syrup and after I was half finished the waiter said he didn't bring the hot honey because it was an additional 50 cents. I said I would "splurge" and try it anyway. Very petty after an expensive meal with everyone ordering one or two drinks. Food was all right but nothing to write home about. Venue seemed dated and lack luster. read more

Food was 10 out of 10. Flavors were absolutely amazing. Everything was so super fresh. Brussel sprouts are a MUST! Their bread was made fresh daily and amazing. I can't stop raving about the food, I would go strictly for the food. Truffle mushrooms, delicious. Service was good. It was cute inside. The only thing that I didn't love is that the area to buy wine flights was in another area away from the bistro so if you wanted a flight (not a glass or bottle) you had to go to the other area and buy it and bring it back to the table. Other than that, the food just makes this winery worth it. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu. I would 100% come back (2 hour drive) for the food. read more
