I have been a member at CFH since February 2013. I initially sent an email to the gym as requested on the gym's website in order get a free session to see if CrossFit was something I would be intersted in. I was responded to the same day and went for my free class that night. I met with one of the trainers,Cait , explained my fitness goals and what I was hoping to gain from CrossFit. She listened to me and explained what CrossFit was all about. She took me through several excerises and then had the opportunity to take part in the class for that night. From that point on, I was hooked. I had the opportunity to take another free class and then right into orientation. Each new member is required to take part in an orientation which is about 5 hours. This orientation takes you through all of the basic moves used in CrossFit as well as explaining proper lifting techniques, stretching, nutrition etc. I found the orientation to be very beneficial and ultimately made me feel more prepared when it came time to start the classes. I now have three months under my belt and look forward to continuing with CFH. Honestly this has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not only have I made progress towards my fitness goals, I have gained a number of friends through all of this. From the owners to the trainers to the other members at the gym, everyone makes you feel like family. I have been a Crossfit Hershey (CFH) member since January 2013 and I have had a 100% positive experience with all members of the staff...I initially signed up for a free class via the CFH website and was emailed back promptly with confirmation and a phone number to call if I had additional questions. Upon arriving for my free class, I was greeted warmly by Cait who explained the CrossFit concept and took us through a great introductory workout and I was hooked immediately. The staff is very focused on you learning the skills and the weight lifting techniques correctly so you can safely progress towards your fitness goals (orientation sessions prior to you joining the regular classes help you learn these skills). In my short time at the gym, I have gotten more fit and stronger than with any other "program" or workout I've done in the past. If you're concerned you're not "fit enough" to join, there are MANY scaling options to CrossFit, so don't worry - the CFH team will help you! Lastly, one of the unique features of working out at CFH is the environment. The fellow members are encouraging and friendly and cheer you on to complete your workouts. I started at Crossfit Hershey a year and a half ago after really wanting to try Crossfit but not really knowing what i was getting into. I started out training with Brandi and couldn't be happier with my decision. The coaches all are very friendly, approachable and encouraging and really make you push yourself to a new level. I used to go to the "globo-gyms" and just run and do the occasional weight training. Since I started at Crossfit, I now am hooked. I go to personal training sessions and classes every week and everyone at Crossfit Hershey is so friendly, supportive of one another and really makes you want to do your best. I can truly say I am the most challenged, strongest I have been in years and enjoy my workouts now more than ever. There are four (4) Crossfit gyms closer to my home and office but the staff, members and programming at Crossfit Hershey far surpasses any other Crossfit gym in the area and is well worth the drive for me. I recommend Crossfit for anyone who wants to get in shape or just wants to meet new people and challenge themselves and achieve their fitness goals. I have truly learned that its not the time you spend in the gym but the quality of work you put in at the gym that makes the difference. I have been an avid weigh lifter and stayed athletic through the years. I started Crossfit to change up the same ole routine. When I met the owner and coaches for the first time , they were very informative and explained exactly what Crossfit was all about. Due to me not knowing some of the movements, I was able to get a one on one with a educated trainer. They were more concerned that I learn correct form before doing the workouts and getting injured. Also would like to add that the owner , Tim Steel , is extremely educated and has each members health in mind. He's passionate about the sport and it shows. Being 36 years old, he's got me in the best shape of my life. The Hershey Crossfit members are more than members , it feels more like a family. Thank you to all the coaches. Crossfit Hershey is the best fitness facility in the Central PA area. I have been going there for over 5 years and they have the most knowledgable staff, top notch equipment (and lots of it) and programming that fits any level, age and ability. Each person is treated as a human being and given the proper training so you start off on the right foot and set realistic goals so you can see your progress. It is truly a family gym that everyone looks out for each other and no one judges but only encourages one another. Doing Crossfit and going to Crossfit Hershey are the best two decisions I have made. CFH was the best decision I've made in a long time. At first I was skeptical about leaving my comfort zone, aka 'globo' gym, but am now very happy with the decision I made. Being a member for about 5-6 months now, I feel that I am in the best shape of my life. Having been a college athlete I had always considered myself in pretty good shape, but nothing compares to the changes that CFH has given me in the short 6 months that I've been going. I came to crossfit hershey right as they opened the doors. I have seen a lot of changes to the gym over the years, but the one thing that stays consistent is the passion and commitment Tim and all the other coaches make to everyone that comes to every single class. Other gyms that I have been to simply countdown "3-2-1-Go" and then go talk to other people or text on there phone, with an occasional "You can do it guys" with about as much enthusiasm as a bowl of lettuce. I have been attending Crossfit Hershey for a year and a half and I have gained so much more then I have training at my regular globo gym for 3 yrs! I was looking for something more something that would push me other then reg toning classes! The trainers here are very motivating as well as the members are always encouraging each other! On August 1st, 2011 at the age of 54 I joined Crossfit Hershey and I have not looked back since. After working out at other gyms and power lifting for most of my life I became bored with the routine workouts I was doing and I walked away from exercising altogether. Out of any gym I've been to this is the first where I feel comfortable and leave feeling better about my physical appearance and myself! The staff is great, my personal trainer is awesome! This gym has totally stepped up in light of Covid-19. Thankful for the at home training that has been available as well as equipment usage/borrowing that allows me to continue to work hard at home.
